If I got more than 10 hours of entertainment a month that would still be a good deal. I would happily pay 50 bucks a month for a game I enjoy.

Here is the simple answer, I've worked with professors who research AI, and does consulting for EA and other Canadian companies.

He's done a lot of work with Bioware and here is the main, glaring reason.

Nobody wants it. AI isn't a selling feature worth investing in. Current AI is handled by 1 developer generally, maybe 2 and it might just be a side job of 1 developer.

Assuming you pay a developer 80k thats 40-120k development cost per year on AI

To get better more interesting AI you would need more people, specialized people. AI developers in other industries pull very large salaries, and if you wanted a team of 3-4 guys working on it, you'd be looking at 300-400k+ a year in development costs.

Is a better AI going to sell the extra 100,000 copies needed to make it profitable? Proably not, players would much rather see better graphics, physics or longer stories.

Currently, AI is not a finacially viable area to push in game development, this may change. For example you've all no doubt seen F.E.A.R which moved videogame AI from the 1940's all the way into the 1970's. Thats now the standard, but has anybody really pushed AI to see if there is a market? No. There may or may not not be a market for it, but nobody wants to take the financial risk.

Because the soul system has done what other games have tried to do for years and failed in terms of raiding.

Rift allows you to bring the player, not the class.

Or you could just still enjoy gaming, and still be a mature productive member of society...

Crazy but lots of us have very happy, productive lives and have never "out grown" gaming.

If you're really curious, there was a poster on Reddit who actually had knowledge about missiles and put up quite a lengthy explaination/discussion about this particular event.

1) Canada can produce rare earth metal, we just don't because the value is so low. If China cut out the higher price would likely make it viable.

2) Do some more research on India and China. Its really common for people to think they are these sound, growing nations, but they are both having HUGE social issues as well as an entire economy that is built around trying to make ends meet rather than improve. If you've ever been to India, you'd know the place is a giant garbage hole. There is dead bodies everywhere, garbage piles up in streets and rivers. People kill with no fear of retribution from government and there is rampant disease.

I wouldn't jump on that fear bandwagon just yet...

Happens all the time in every game I know of. Connections make the world go round. Especially in a beta if you know somebody is gona be useful, invite them. 12 yearold journalism at its finest!

Edit: I've been a part of several beta's where connections got me past the random invites. Thats not corruption, thats just life. Especially in beta where there is no real tangible benifits lol.

I'm in a relationship right now, and I spend ample time with my girlfriend but she understands that I love videogames and want to play them. I still go out and do things, perhaps not every time people I know go out, but I still try to get out and do things other than lanning.

Yes and yes, but my girlfriend and me are very happy. I love my life and maybe I wont bag 200 differed chicks over the course of my life, and sure I don't have a dozen good drinking stories, but I have a few. I've been with a few women, I've had my "Uh oh" morning with somebody I shouldn't have slept with.

But at no point do I regret my memories of being the first guild on my server to drop Ragnaros, or leveling really fast and being one of the first guilds in the world to down the raid content in LOTRO. Nor the time to took to write a minstril guide that was later translated and used as the players guide on the official LOTRO chinese site.

Its part of who I am, and I love gaming. I often chose to not hang out with girls in my life and I can say without a doubt I don't regret any of those choices... perhaps I could have swapped a few, you know made a lan party when I instead when to a lame party or vice versa, but overall I think I'd be less happy a person if I put girls infront of videogames all the time.

There is a few reason I like her.

A) She is a body shape that is very under represented in pop-culture currently.

B) Shes smart and makes it very apparent in interviews with non-pop magazines. She's simply doing work, and this is how her job works. Shes a pop star because she knows what the industry wants, what her audience wants, and she provides it.

Notice the lack of sex scandles and drug abuse problems? She's a smart woman in the industry, and I can respect what she has managed to accomplish.

 It is looking like I am not going to be able to do that. Due to my fathers condition, he is no longer able to understand what people are saying to him at the moment, and after my mothers actions and responses to physicians and other staff, the hospital and state may be moving forward on having them both evaluated. The social worker has already approached both me and my sister about taking over power of attorney, and my sister contacted an attorney today about us possibly getting joint custody if they are both deemed incompetent.

If it comes down to us being left with no other choice, we will accept it, but we will not do so unless the state gives us no other options. We certainly are not going to allow them to be turned over to the state, but we will not initiate it.

My mother is unable to care for herself, or my father. In this circumstance, it is a matter of life and death, and the mistakes that have been made by both of them have resulted in him deteriorating further.

Unless we have some miracle, he may never be returning home again. There is no medicine I can give him to fix him, from here it is completely up to his own body to work around the damage already done.

Having had to deal with a power of attorney debate vs to government with my aunt, if the doctor says they are unable to make decisions, and you aren't already given the enduring power of attourney when they are unable to make medical decisions; There is no way to get it.

From what I was told (atleast in Canada) only the person can grant an enduring power of attourney, and in order to do that they must be of sound mind and deemed able to make that decision. If your sister is already an enduring power of attourney you will be able to make decisions. It is highly unlikely that given what you've said about your parents that a doctor would give a notary the okay to change their enduring power of attourney.

We managed to get an okay from the doctor, I really hope you get the same... I feel for you, its not easy when family starts to go and the government safe guards start making sure you aren't abusing them.

GA by a long shot. CO barely lasted me a week, it was really frustrating and a waste of my money.

GA I played for a couple months, I've ran out of things to do, but with the quality and frequency of content upgrades, I will no doubt be back playing it eventually.

Not liking Starcraft is one thing...

But thinking its not going to be a huge release that takes a chunk out of everything is just silly. Starcraft 2 is huge, huge budget, huge fanbase, huge advertising.

Just because you don't like WoW doesn't make the any less of a glorious success.
