We are not locusts - Why the MMO genre must re-invent itself
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/01/12 1:04:37 PM
I think The Secret World will change the way we look at mmos. They will open the eyes of many mmo producers. There is other ways to make a mmo games than the standard "WOW" way. |

We are not locusts - Why the MMO genre must re-invent itself

Originally posted by nikoliath I think this was somewhat funny. No offend. But , I just turned 40 last year and have been playing games since early days when Commodore Vic 20 and Amstrad was the top notch. I have played all type of games and also have spend lots of time in mmo games. After World of warcraft entered the scene I have spend all my gaming time in several mmo games. I think I have totally 8-10 charachters to hit the level cap in all the mmo games I have played, and that is 4 games. We are here talking about players that are going trough content like their life depends on it. I just wonder, Nikoliath, if you should answer this thread with that nice lines of references of games you have played, mmo games. I'm just saying...... |

By reading this you might want to learn a little more about us to see if this is a Guild that can be of interest to you. We are a mature guild with most of our members between the age 25-40 yrs old. Most of us have rather extensive gaming experiences from other MMO and FPS games. Our main goal with this guild is to create a comfortable and fun journey in the world of Hyboria for all our members. We are loyal and helpful towards our ingame friends, and espesially towards our guildies. As mentioned earlier community and friendship will be essential in running our Guild. Needless to say due to our prior gaming experiences we are ambitious and serious gamers and will not be mistaken for being pushovers in any sence. Still if your goal is hardcore raiding, grinding and sieging 24/7 we might not be the Guild to fulfill your ingame ambitions. We all have RL obligations like work/school/family life etc. which can be quite time consuming at times so we will probably never become the first Guild to new content or be the first to take down any high end bosses. We aim to become about 100-120 members in total evenly divided among the 4 classes. This might be adjusted as we go along depending on what we need to reach our goals in regards to raiding/city building etc. We want to be small enough for everyone to get the family feeling about the guild, but also big enough to be a force to be reconed with. We have a complete tier 2 city going for tier 3, website, ventrilo and a hell of lovely bunch of members. We aim for BK's and raids in the near future. Guild recruitment: Assassin - Low Barbarian - Low Bear Shaman - High Conqueror - Medium Dark Templar - High Demonologist - High Guardian - High Herald of Xotli - High Necromancer - High Priest of Mitra - High Ranger - Medium Tempest of Set - High Before any applicants are considered as members we need to know a little about you. - Nickname (real name is optional) Every new member will have a 2 week trial peroid in which they can get to know other members of our guild, and we can also get to know them better. During this period we will look at your level of ingame activity and how you interact socially and gamewice with your new guildies. You will during this peroid be treated equally and regarded as any other guildmember. In addition click this link to our guild policies : Send in an application here : Thank you for reading and we wish you all the best in the glorious world of Hyboria. |

I am totally agreed with you on this. This review is a discrace. This game blows lots of others mmo's right back to the scratch table. How the hell can AOC get a lower score than for an example Matrix Online ????? Come on, Who the hell bought this review ? After this, mmorpg.com have dropped some stepes on my ladder. |

People, grow up. Its a game. Some actually like it and some dont. Whats the big deal if someone like the game ? Someone have it their mission to try to convinvce the poor guy that he have to be stupid to like it and hurry over to another No named game. I know alot of people thought this was going to be their big game for this decade. Lots of people did not get what they anticipated, and got frustrated and sad. In this frustration they maybe found their goal in life, make all other not to like the game either. I have played the game from early access, and yes there have been bugs and there have been performance trouble. I have been lucky cause nothing was so off that it broke the game for me, so I stayed with my friend playing. Its really fair to say that funcom have fixed a lot of bugs, and the perfomance is way way better than the release. But still it not the game for everybody, and I cant say that you and you will like it, just that I like it. If you have a problem with that, go someplace else, cause I dont care. And if someone wonder, yes I have a Lvl 80 and several other characters still loving the game. |
