People have been successfully raiding and grouping in mmorpgs for many years without voice chat.   I hate how the 360 / ps3 crowd can't figure out how to type and fight at the same time.  Its really not too difficult. 

Voice chat is the lazy persons excuse to not learn how to type and besides, it introduces a new element in gameplay that isn't necessary and one that is more distracting than anything else.

I suppose mythic will give you voice chat eventually.  Enough people will whine for it. 

Yes it is very simple but I had no idea flight masters could do that.  I've seen one or two and never bothered to click either one thinking I had to run to the other zones (due to no one helping me in game....seriously, no answers in chat or through tells).  I asked chaos I had seen in the greenskin zone and the only answer I received, "......go northwest basically", didn't help at all.  Thanks for the info.

I've noticed the chat channel is dead 99% of the time.  Its somewhat disheartening because I like to see a busy chat channel.  Many of my tells go unanswered even after I see the player stop in mid run to read what I sent....and then keep running. 

I've asked many people and received no reply.  I've run all over the greenskin zone trying to find a way to chaos.  Could someone tell me, give me a roadmap of sorts, how to reach the chaos zone with my squig herder.

Someone at funcom must have caught wind of stock prices being listed and threatened this site to take them down or funcom would discontinue paying for ad space.

When a publisher goes to the extreme of moderating what happens on another web site, even though no apparent rules were broken, the situation for that publisher must be desparate.  The stock prices are public knowledge I guess.  This is a public forum.

I seriously believe funcom has employees patrolling forums sprinkling bits of love and praise for AoC among the heaping mass of hate in a futile attempt to save their rep and the game.

The people who run this site have been accused on numerous occasions of being the back pocket of their advertisers, and this thread is rampant with conspriacy theories yet again.

There are so many hate posts about AOC on this forum a reasonable person can't possibly believe that theres an organized conspiracy to strike this one.

Couple that with the site's managers publically denying on many occasions any changes to their editorial content based on advertiser's pressure.

If you want to believe in black helicopters and wear the tin foll hat, fine go ahead, but then again, there's probably nothing you can ever trust in this world, and certainly not on the Internet.

Me, I'm  more of the opinion that a moderator just got sick of the subject, and felt stock price discussions weren't really in spirit of the web site.

  P.S funcom stock at 9 bucks. Was at around 40 I believe when everyone told me I was nuts on the bankruptcy note.

I dont miss AoC in the slightest but I know how you fell about the pc.

I can run Crysis at max res DX10 graphics at 40fps and poor old AoC was lucky to hold 20fps with DX9 graphics maxed.

But at least the pc runs Warhammer smooth and it doesnt crash or have the wonderful OOM errors and it can use my quad core with crashing unlike AOC.

And I feel the $9 a share is some payback for the screwing Failcom gave the community.

The AoC engine is fubar.  How people manage to experience seige warfare without dropping to 10 fps bewilders me. 

I'm not sure where I read this, I almost want to say it was in the official forum and was posted by a dev or maybe it was common knowledge at the time (before I quit) but it was recommended for everyone experiencing graphic hitching to max settings for better performance.  What?  It should be the opposite.  Lower settings for better performance.  Yep, total fubar engine although I've been told peformance has been improved.

I suppose many people hating war will appreciate it more once they return to AoC and remember how much better war performed on their pcs. 

Message to funcom:  performance  is greater than gameplay (how can you enjoy the game if it performs  awful?) and gameplay is greater than eye candy.  To appease the 360 and ps3 generation and whining video card manufacturers funcom chose eye candy over everything.

As far as in corcerned, when people talk about next generation, or steps beyond the norm

WAR is past and present, AoC is the future.

When i compare AoC melee combat, ranged combat, animations, character movement, atmosphere, graphics....all of it is better than WAR.

I fail to see a problem here

The updater froze with me continually for days.  When it froze the the estimated time for completion shot up to 60, 70, 80 hours (like the swg patcher does for me now....dammit).  Out of frustration I reinstalled vista and with absolutely no other software installed I reinstalled AoC.  So I had vista 64 and AoC....thats it.....on my hard drive and the updater still froze.  I gave the patcher and client all permissions, disabled UAC, disabled firewall, did every  tweak and temporary fix I knew to do (and was suggested to try) without success. 

I noticed the patcher kept hanging at a shader.bin file (I think thats what it was or maybe it was shader.cfg) and someone in the official forum posted a link to the latest shader.bin file.  I downloaded it, moved it to the AoC folder, replacing the old file and bam!  I was in game.  The updater completed normally.  I believe some of these AoC discs are being released with faulty / buggy clients as lots of people at the time were complaining about the patcher freezing and dowloading the same files over and over.

I'm happy to say I have since quit but that new shader file helped me.  Determine what file the updater is freezing with and ask someone to post a new one.  Hopefully that will help.

For those of you that care about eye candy and refuse to play a game that looks outdated or waiting for a graphical update to sub again you're as shallow as your excuse is stupid.

Its an option for those that want it. The hardware industry has been screaming out for the software to catch up and now its starting to happen.

If I have an expensive rig, I would like the choice to play in what ever API is on offer, the better, the better for me justfying my hobby and enthusiast hardware.

Hardcore pc gaming is a niche market and keeping graphic standards high will only keep it a niche market although the hardware companies will be happy.  Its no wonder why the hardware industry is screaming for the software to catch up.

I'm not a huge wow fan but blizzard is smart.  Low requirements means more people can play and the more people that play means more money for everyone involved in creating / publishing wow.  Its a win overall.  I really believe if wow looked like AoC there would be far less subscribers.
