Yeah the rush is cool. I quit though because it became more of a job than a game. And I got tired of losing ships I couldn't afford to lose. Not my fault my corp had suicide gangs. >< |

I think the game looks pretty cool. But, as much as I play (60 hours a week), about the only thing I can play is subscription games. Other wise I'd be playing about 250$ a month in microtransactions lol. |

I really want this game to succeed. I played beta and I think it's really come a long way to where it is now. Just hope the player base stays strong.
I agree with you on about nearly everything you said about MJ. He's so much fracking better than fracking Kalgan. I can't stand that guy. MJ, for now, at least addresses real issues. |

Hands down, Pre-Screwup SWG. |

WoW is a 2 headed monster.
In one hand it has risen the "quality" (and i put that in quotes because when you really look, there isn't much depth to the game, although thats nearly any MMO) of what we expect from games.
In the other however, because of the "sucess" of its sales and subscriptions, and hear me, I do not say sucess of the game, it has "pushed" the MMO industry into a one dimensional world. The sucess of WoW nearly purely stems from 2 sources.
1) It's a social networking game. The Facebook/Myspace of video games. 2) It's Blizzard.
Anyway, the only danger I see to the game is Kalgan. |

but yeah, Gamers are sometimes the industries worse enemy sadly... :(
It'll last. I don't play any subscription games at the moment and don't plan to play any MMO's in the future, until the industry does change. And for these past few months I've contented myself with all my old first person shooters. And Oblivion, of course. Although I am waiting for Spore and Fallout 3. |

The gaming industry is very fickle and its a shame that we, the gamers, are our own worst enemy.
We want new groundbreaking games, but do we buy them? No. Well maybe, but if we do, do we continue to support them? Of course not.
But, on the bright side, I have been WoW free for 6 months now |

Do we take it too much for granted that all mmos are alike?

I concur. Which is why I made

It's more than about just one game. Its about what games are in general. |

I have been thinking about the design of such a game, but there is one major problem, and by major I mean one that I don't think could be over come.
The problem with Harry Potter, is that it is a story, that encompases huge amounts of time, places, and scenarios. The reason fans of Harry Potter like Harry Potter is well, the story that is being told, obviously. I could go on and on but then no one would read it.
The first thing that came to my mind was, well, why not have every player go through their 7 years at Hogwarts? But, who is going to play a game for 7 years? Make the time shorter. What are you going to do after you're out? Make the game just in the universe of Harry Potter, and you can simple do what you want. How about a game set during Voldomorts first rise to power? Or how about it after he has been defeated?
What will the skill system be like? Of course if you had school years, that would definatly make it easier. Each year you get more skills and so on. But at year 6-7 everyone is just going to be spamming Avada Kedavra right? Well maybe not if you just make it usable on NPC's, but then everyone in the game would be on the same side and I know people will want to play Death Eaters.
Another thought would have everyone always be in school and for fights or whatever have them compete in duel tournaments. But then that game would be so limited and narrow no one would want to play it. With todays gaming mood, it has to be open world of die.
I feel that this MMO can't not be done at all, until someone invents a new generation of MMOs. It has to be something that hasn't been done before, but I doubt any company would want ot take that kind of risk with that much money to try and figure out a whole new science of gaming.
Maybe I am just a little bit |

Why do people complain about grinds?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 7/28/08 5:53:06 PM
Well, my favorite progessions in MMO are both SOE games.
Star Wars Galaxies professions when it was first released. You could be 5 or 6 professions at once.
And Planetside. This is how MMO skills should be. Not based on levels, but on unlocks for playing the game a certain amount of time/achievements.
EvEOnlines skill progression system is ok, but the real time training kind of sucks if you like to get in and progress quickly. |

What MMORPG Gamers Really Want (very long)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/26/08 5:44:59 PM
We need love.
Seriously though, I played stoned a lot. I played WoW for 3 years. Thats why it s so succesful. You can play totally trashed and still clear BT on a weekly basis. Then I can waste flasks in battlegrounds and get my kills way up there, all white smoking some Cali Kush. Mhhm. Any game where you can do that, is a great game. |

will you go back to warcraft if warhammer(or conan) delivers ?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 4/15/08 6:42:23 PM
The only reason I have kept on playing WoW for the past year and a half is the PvP, which really blows, but, I have so many friends there. It's more of a social game. I do it out of boredom more than I do it because I enjoy it. Which I don't really enjoy the game at all. Just my friends. Every other MMO I have played, its been hard to get a good community of friends to play with. It seemed like in EQ2 I could run a dungeon and never see the same people again.
I think there will be so many people try WAR that this wont happen. Anyway, as soon as it launches I am signing up a 6 month sub just so I can't leave. I have read almost everyting about the game from the official website, Warhammer Allinace, and TTH, that from what I am reading and watching in vid's i wouldnt want to leave anyway. I just hope the World RvR > Scenarios. |

could there be an exodus from warcraft this summer ?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/02/08 2:21:36 PM
I will be giving WAR at least a 3 month subscription to give it the shadow of the doubt. No games are perfect at the start so I think 3 months is plenty of time to get most of the main launch bugs out. I just hope other people are willing to stick to it that long, because most people I know play it for 2 weeks then go back to WoW because they "think" its better because it don't have those bugs. |
