instead of going F2P, why not simply reduce the standard 15$ a month fee?

What makes people so certain BW can't make a good mmorpg?

Final Fantasy XIII-2. (Yes - that's right)
General Gaming « General Discussion 1/23/11 4:58:53 PM
That's true. Merger's happen though. No stopping them. Some interesting ideas there, but PC market is pretty much dead for developers. It's a sink due to easy access to piracy and the fact that many people own a staggering variety of computer systems, so requirements and accommodating for all that limits them further. New breath of life is something a company such as Square is unable to do simply because they are so well known. Perhaps this latest may set them back on track, or it will continue down the same path it has always done. A developer changes as they grow, and that become apparant in the games that they produce. Different goals. Though, to be fair and balance out a little bit, there are games that look like they are likely to be quite fun. Things like Mindjack, Deus Ex, and Dungeon Siege. Though you're right, Final Fantasy does get overused way too much. |

Originally posted by QuasiRain I think the liener aspect of the game that most people tend to object to. Final Fantasy game have always really been seen as games where there's the main storyline, but the main enjoyment is to go out and explore, do quests and stuff, find treasure. It was a bit of a shock to me when it was made so...streamlined shall we say. |

ANYWAY. What do you lot think? Good/bad? If it's the same old stuff I think it'll cause a bit of an upset with an already disgruntled FF fanbase. Though they are promising a lot of changes with this one, so maybe. I mean, FFX-2 made a good game turn bad, so perhaps it works vice versa as well? |

Ever notice how 5/10 is considered bad these days? Shouldn't that be an average game. Seems 7/10 is more toward the average level mark. I like the summary in a few points to sum up a game for me, cause that's what most of us tend to do inadvertently or not. That, and the timeline and maths summaries too help e compare to other games I may have played. Maths Example: Graphics + World of Warcraft = Rift That sorta thing. |

Artist who did the avatars are pretty good, though there are a couple of games that are like that, quite a number get taken down by Nintendo for copyright. Still, I'd like to see a Pokemon MMO that was based directly as an online version of the DS games. It'll never happen though unfortunately. |

PlayStation Network Seemingly Has Way More Users Than Xbox Live

Free is generally where people will go if they had a choice. Seeing how blended the consoles are these days, the exception being Wii of course, then yeah - freebies for the win. It's one of the main reasons why Final Fantasy XIV is only being ported to the PS3 as of yet, because of the pricing plan. It's painful to pay a sub for a game, followed by a sub for a service to go online. There's upsides and downsides of each of course. Latency, types of players etc. But you all know that already. |

Final Fantasy XIV: Fun, Live, Reboot, and Rebuild

As long as they try to improve it and keep doing so, I can't blame them for effort. Shame I don't have a PS3 yet (Late Xmas present I hope) cause I'd like to try this on the Console, which is what the game seems to have been designed for. |

I think Consoles will one day rule the earth personally. Can't complain if everyone has the same settings/hardware can you developers? |

Yay! The sequel to my favourite MMO has won. I'll be playing both Star Wars and Guild Wars of course. They both deserve it methinks. |
