That's interesting, so people who are tired of playing the same type of game over, and over, and over again are "stupid"

 

To me this game felt shockingly similar to WoW at lower levels, even more similar to WoW than other games like Rift and SWTOR that were labeled WoW clones.  This is a feeling though, perhaps you saw something exciting there.  I did not.  Trying to argue that people who want a new experience are "stupid" is a bit well... humorous to me.

Ok people wanted change and innovation here comes TERA with its political system and fresh new combat .... That game is doing so well that when I logged in yesterday the servers channel for 5 hours never went above low . GW2 people were again all on the combat and wow npcs talk....so...much..you want to choke them . That game because a disappointment . RIFT , SWTOR need I say more .FFXIV V1 was different so much so people hated it so hey remade it.  The fact that over the last 5 year MMOs have SUCKED is because of people saying its the same old same old then they make something new and people are like sweet this is so great then 5 months latter  meh? l rather play WoW or FFXI .....Going back to the same od same old . That is what is stupid

The biggest gripe we had was this quote " Our play session during the beta weekend was filled with similarly-leveled pugilists and spellcasters joining in unison as we beat down the aforementioned Opo-opos and Ixali birdmen until we had fulfilled the required amount of mob deaths. "

How the hell did he test as a Pug ? It was not in phase 2 ? Unless he is lying .  But he said he did . There is a lot of misinformation out there if you do not know go read and educate yourself on this game . Or wait when NDA is lifted and everyone can see the game . Trust me this will be he game of the year MMO wise . I know a lot think tESO or Neverwinter but im going to say this those games are F2P and like every F2P game if you enjoy  lag fest and a buggy game by all means play . If you enjoy spending over 200$ a year to get that piece of gear you will not use 2 weeks later by all means play that game . IF you want a lag free , bug free well maintained game that will cost you 150$ a year and you can get anything you want on a level playing field with everyone else then this is the game for you. ( My opinion)

I agree but todays MMO players are lazy , and want things NOW! and do not want to work for it . So as you have seen the past 5 years MMOs are getting easy and really watered down from the ones 10 years ago .

I believe he was a big Dark Age of Camelot PVP player. Thats why there will be 3 faction PVP with the companies.

Yes that is it DAoC , He was one of the top PvP players in that game . SO he will make a great PvP style and system

Suddenly any themepark direction AAA MMO = WoW.

The 1 character armoury multiple classes/abilities, player housing, pvp, FATE system and limit break battle/party dynamics have yet to even see open beta and already people deem "a p2p title that is very similar to Wow, but not Wow."

Not to mention your notion that people wouldn't play a well done WoW-style game with amazing graphics is also debatable given WoW's success.

But that's a different point entirely because anyone will quickly recognize the differences between Blizzard and Square Enix game design and personal touch once this game launches.

A) Yes the armory system is awesome on so many levels and saves me from having to make alts, which I love.

B) Ok you got me there again, and I do actually love player housing.

C) You sighted pvp as something that would differentiate AAR from WoW, which is hilarious on so many levels.

D) Ok, ok, the "FATE" system was taken from the cornerstone of gw2's design not WoW.  But to be fair gw2 made enough of a splash that even korean games like Tera are trying to add dynamic events... not successfully, but still trying.

E) And to your last point all I can really say is we'll see how well they implement it.

 

But to be fair to my point...

If those are really your strongest arguements from why AAR is not a WoW-style game... 

I believe you could  make a far more compelling case for why SWTOR is not a WoW-style game...

But we all know SWTOR is heavily patterened after WoW...

And we all know how successful it was...

Even using arguably the best IP America has produced...

I love it when people do not do any kind of  checks into past FF titles . First  part "D" In 2007 a Exp. Pack for XI came out called Wings of the Goddess ,  In WotG you travel back in time , one new feature was campaign . In campaign strong holds would come under attack and you had to defend them ( like the FATEs) if no one came to defend them the beast tribes would take them over ( Like FATEs ) People are so damn quick to say this game ripped this off another game . When that is not the case at all . RIFT had real time active events , Well RIFT came out 4 years after WotG Exp. PAck for FFXI . Just putting that out there , The only thing that is WoW like is questing  . Because that is now the MMO standard .  I wish i could tell you all more info but i cant . A lot of people who claim WoW clone will be shocked when you get to play and you will feel mighty stupid for saying such things . Yoshi-P said he tok things from WoW and even played WoW to see what it was that people enjoyed . He never said the game will be just like WoW . And it is not :)
