Originally posted by bcbully I agree. I really, really hope that they add a game mode that focuses on killing the other players. It doesn't have to be straight team death-match, but the fact that I spend more time running from one point to another, or camping one point than I spend fighting players is annoying to me. |

Not yet I don't think. The problem is that there are just way too many problems with sPvP right now for an eSport scene to grow. Some of them are: 1. No spectator mode, so commentaries will always be player perspective which is definitely not the best. 2. Lack of statistical information at the end of a fight, like no damage numbers etc. etc. 3. Paid tourneys are incredibly inaccessible to new players. Right now, just a few teams dominate them and any newcomers will just get stomped and lose their tickets that they got with real money or grinding. Not very fun. 4. Current metagame leads to too many "cookie cutter" teams and not much variety. 5. Conquest game mode is a turn off for some. As for me, I LOVE the combat system in GW2, and I think that it could develop a great eSport scene, but sPvP REALLY needs some help before that happens. Right now, I feel like WvW is far better for PvP action. |

If you could travel back in time and tell the Pre-GW2-Beta "You" something about GW2, what would you tell yourself?

Originally posted by Calerxes Well first, I didn't accuse him of being a hater. All I said was that this thread was just another way for people to state whether they like GW2 or not. And come on, you know it is. There are only two main answers that people will give to this question and they are: 1. I would tell myself to definitely buy GW2 = I like GW2. 2. I would tell myself to not buy GW2 = I don't like GW2. Also...in order to be a spotlight poster I think you have to post in the pub. It just means that one of your threads was put "In the spotlight" (stickied) by the mods. |

I would tell myself that in the future, people on MMORPG.com will find many creative ways to rehash the same old subject of "Do you like/hate GW2?" Because apparently, letting people know your opinion on the game 500 times is very, very important.

Threads like this are why I deleted my account lol. Please guys...just step back and look at what you are doing. It's such a waste of time...you don't need to sit here and try to learn accounting just so you can justify your opinion that a game is failing or successful. Imagine what you could accomplish if you channeled all this energy into something else. Maybe next time you have a test coming up, just imagine that your teacher is trying to prove that GW2 is a failure (if you are a fan) or a great success (if you are not), and the only way to disprove her is to get a great score on the test. |

Empty PvE Zones across most Servers > Server Merge ??
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 11/06/12 11:46:46 AM
I mentioned this being a potential problem before. It's not that people are leaving the game in droves or anything, it's just that the natural evolution of a themepark MMORPG always has people spending less and less time in mid level zones, and more time in max level zones and end-game activities. So this IS a real problem for people that would like to level with others there and not be in empty zones most of the time. Two solutions that were suggested were: 1. "Reverse overflow" servers, which means that the game would essentially push players in a zone from any server into just a few instances so that the zone would be more populated. 2. Periodic events that would "highlght" certain zones in hopes of drawing players to specific zones for the event. |

Hey guys, it's Creslin. Elikal posted a comment on my YouTube account asking why I left, which made me check on these forums and I noticed that a bunch of other people were wondering as well. So anyway... There are basically two reasons why I decided to delete my account. First and foremost...I didn't like how much time I spent on these forums. Whenever I sat down to do something productive, it was all too tempting to hop on these forums "just to check" and then inevitably involve myself in some silly argument that would occupy me for like 2 hours lol. This had really made me comtemplate just deleting my account to help stop me from coming back for a while...kind of like a symbolic ripping off a band-aid I guess. If I continue to visit the forums too frequently, I will be deleting this one as well haha :). Second, I didn't really like what most of the threads on these forums had become, and how I had become one of the main participants in what I didn't really like. What I mean by this is that I used to come on these forums and actually post fairly thoughtful things that I found interesting. And then I would have fun discussions with everyone about them. But now...everything just seems to be one circular argument after another. I can't tell you how many times I have argued that GW2 is social or that it's a good game, or whatever. These arguments never go anywhere, and the sad thing is, that most of these arguments are based on simple misunderstandings...and I often even know this, but decide to argue anyway just to kill time. For example, in the huge antisocial debate I had with grimal, I knew that he probably felt the game was antisocial because of his particular experience on playstyle, but I didn't really want to just ask him that and try to understand because that would have resulted in resolution and I wouldn't have had a fun argument to kill 2 hours with. Eventually, I started to see a parallel between arguments on these forums and arguments in politics. What I mean by this is that, much like politicians, it seems like I (and we in many cases) stopped caring about why we are arguing, and really only care about winning. Many of us will go through a crazy amount of research just to prove the other person wrong, like digging through their post history, or spending an hour googling to find some obscure dev post made in the distant past. And since I disdain politics with a passion, I started to hate how we argued on this site. At one point, I just decided to poke fun at everyone's arguments with meme pictures, maybe to lighten up the mood or something. But I wound up getting banned for posting a "beating a dead horse" picture in response to a guy who had basically made the exact same argument for like 3 pages. This was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back, because it gave me the impression that the status quo was basically what was desired around here, even by the moderators. So I decided that the only way out of it, was basically to just walk away. Anyways...I did actually like some of the discussions we had here, so I don't want to give the impression that it was all negative for me. I will still try to check in every now and then...but I'm going to try to spend a lot less time here. Thanks for the memories all! |
