There can be no more than 10,000 people playing SWG.   That is probably a generous total considering s lot of them were on Vet Trials, etc.  SWG is quite dead, contrary to what anyone will try to tell you to get you to spend your money playing it.

Anyway, Chilastra isn't the biggest server, but it's near the top for populations and has one of the (if not the) best communities in the game.  There's a free trial you can get by downloading the Launcher at http://launcher.station.sony.com and roam around pretty much the entire game for 14 days.  You'll be able to have a look across the servers and see if they suit what you're looking for.

i would play swg right away if the devs actualy tried fixing ALL of the 100s of bugs that have been in the game without 1 fix for a half of a year but since the devs them self said the game is broken and no plan on fixing whats the point in playing this game anymore

The game changes were awful. But what truly pissed me off is how Sony responded to it's vet community. It insulted us, belittled us, made fun of us - and did it all OPENLY and PROUDLY.

Well now there *is* another place to go. I'm curious to find out just how big that "vocal minority" really is (since Sony won't release the numbers). I'm betting it's more than 51% of the old player base (meaning that Sony is lying when it calls us the "minority".)

I'm also happy to see the NGE apologists going in to panic. After years of free reign on boards sympathic to Sony where NGE lovers talked down to us, told us to get over ourselves and other mean things, it feels good to say it back to them. The Sony boards are alive with sour grapes and the funny thing is that a lot of these posts are being left up. Once upon a time, you couldn't even question the NGE or suggest playing another game on the Sony forum.

It's nice to know that we (the Vets) were right. If the NGE was such a great game, they wouldn't be panicked. It's nice to think that there might be a place where old SWG vets would be welcomed rather than shunned an impuned.

It's also nice to think that these Sony Devs, who we had no way getting to (other than cancelling our accounts) might finally get the pink slips they have coming to them. It's nice to think that the people making the decisions at Sony might finally get pulled in by their higher ups to answer for some of the things they've done. From where I've been sitting, SOE has been getting away with a lot of terrible things for years.

So after years of laughed at, made fun of, treated like garbage, talked down too and so on it's quite a relief to think that the people who did all the above might finally get what's coming to them.

It's a small victory though. I doubt the new game will be anything like the game I love - but that's not going to stop me from enjoying the Sony Titanic sink....

 

 

 Sorry bud but that is totally false information . I don't know how long you've been following the progress of this topic on these boards. But the attacks started when VETs started bashing and insulting current players back in 05 (anyone remember the target audience insult posts?), since then there has been a war between the two sides. Which led to the creation of the VET Refugee board you see today(and the creation of quite a few non censored sites). This is largely why I've been at Odds with a segment of the VET community for a long while now(though I rarely comment on the subject anymore). But as you see they are at work again with all these "" I R WINNAR""ELEVENTYONE!!!111>>> posts.

Anyone who ever defended the NGE was advocating that companies should be allowed to do what SOE did without consequence.  The NGE, and especially the way it was sprung on the players, was unethical.  Are you surprised that people who were pissed off that they were lied to and had their game taken from them would also be pissed off at the folks who told them to "Get over it"?  Hell, you yourself seemed to have signed up for the forums here to defend how wonderful the NGE had made the game, and rub the fact that the fun version of the game was gone in the noses of the folks who were pissed off about the NGE.

Looking at some of your early posts to this site does help explain why you seem so offended about me pointing out the fact that the NGE is not any fun.

 

 

maybe because swg is a washed up trashed mmorpg no one cares about anymore and are tired of people crying whining 24/7 about the only thing good in there lifes it seems no one on the internet cares if you dont like something or not hell i would care more about losing a dollar then you being shot and killed or whatever lol

well on farstar youl have about 10 standing afk outside starport thats pretty much for swg now days and at night you might get over 20 people standing afk if lucky lol thats about it

people keep ignoring the fact that this game will never be fixed again the devs them self have said they cannot fix it and that the game code is broken so on why you do all keep wanting others to play the game its not that the game is boring or whatever but the fact its broken with 100s of bugs that ruins the gameplay ALOT and wont be fixed ever

vanguard is not revived not even 5% from vanguard uses these forums give it up

There's a lot to do in this game besides the endless grinds that go with virtually every mmorpg and some funky gadgets to tinker with. For a change, crafting is actually kinda complex , not like many of the leading games (wow, lotro etc) and things break in this game!!! This will probably put a lot of people off..............those that want their  uber sword/bow/etc to last forever.

 

this game is PACKED with people you cant go anywhere where there isint people and that means its a good game its also one of the most uniqe mmos youl find a game that actualy comes up with there own ideas rather then copying each other like wow aoc war

just imagine wow but diffrent models and textures  grind=raid=wait till next raid=stand afk

Can we get back to the posts topic and that is trying to make an opinion of what I am seeing in game right now? This thread is not here to bash SOE or any other gamers its simply here to express my right to an opinion of the experience I am having with swg as I wait for Ryzom:) Please if you want to make a reply or post stick with the topic. I would love to hear some opinions from other players who ar now trying the game out or who are currently playing it:P

the game is broken the devs them self have said it them self several times that they cant fix it either so why would anyone have a good experience playing this game?

'Chitty' is subjective, even assuming that you have had any experience with the game to make such a statement.

I personally applaud diversity in the genre and wish the game luck.
