Would you PAY to level up your character ? P2L
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/20/09 3:47:01 PM
It's a terrible idea and model mainly because you have to stick to a level system how would you do it if it was skill based? You can't. What about alts? You want to pay for them too? Is $10-15 per month really that much? Christ you spend that, if not more at a movie theater in a night. Oh shit I got level 20 let me charge it to my card! How dumb is that. Hang on guys I gotta charge it before I ding! Not many will like this model it gives not freedom. You going to charge people to craft items to? How about an in-game tax on item selling, awesome! |

Cannot get newly built PC to work, please assist
Hardware « General Discussion 5/29/09 6:29:48 AM
One of the main things that Asus would tell you right away if you got a hold of them is that OCZ is not a supported memory company. They will tell you to pick up Corsair. I've never had problems with OCZ on Asus until I ran into Crossfire boards then it is a whole different story. While it is possible the mobo doesn't like the memory it isn't likely it's just something tech support would tell you right away to cover their ass. At any point an Asus monitor probably was one of your ill purchases on your part. It's just not quality for what you can out of it. If you need both pins plugged into the monitor that is just unheard of and defiantly your problem. Most mobo's can only read one setting at a time even if it says it can distinguish between the two of them they normally can't. Perhaps also dropping to DDR3 1333 may make your life easier as well as everything else on your mobo is supported upward with O.C. just a thought. It's hard to really tell what is going on without being their first hand to diagnose it. It could be any number of issues from plugs not being in correctly to unsupported devices/brands. It helps when you have a knowledge on what you are building so you know when things go sour why it is happening and steps to fix it. It doesn't take a genius to put a PC together but it takes someone with a PC background to make it work when it want's to cause you hell. So if you lack the background I'd take it to a friend or a shop that knows a thing or two about the internals. |

How exactly do you "grind" chess. Chess is a game with one common goal an MMO is a game with many common goals. Many being the factor that grind can exist. Was a poor example. Rule #13) Do not grab the dictionary to look for the biggest words to try and make you look more intelligent because you probably already failed. The "rules" you dreamed up have many flaws because later down the road the game could completely change. A good example: I used to love SWG now I hate it. Why? Cause the game completely changed. |

Don't mix reality into games, you think I like putting my money into a bank. Or watch interest rates, no it sucks but it's part of our society. Putting a real life system in a game not only kills the fun just annoys the hell out of people. It's not done because devs know it's a buzz kill. Games are suppose to be our alternate reality not our 2nd reality within our 1st reality. |

Well once you have 3 alts at 60 another in progress and done RAD runs up to your ears then you'd feel my pain, but I envy you for taking the content so slow at least you have something to experience. What they have plan sounds great and even the level cap is fine with me as with level cap increases comes brand new areas to explore and tons of quests to experience. Just atm the end game is a dead end that you keep bashing your head into a wall over and over again until something pops. Hopefully skirmishes will change that. |

Basically at 60 you pay $15 a month to login and sit in the 21st hall until you logout. It's the cool thing to do after you got all your radiance gear and run the watcher every once in a while. There is a complete lack of content but from what I am hearing from Book 8 things should change and give us more to do, too bad that's in June though... |

POLL: Do We Really Want SW:tOR, or a SWG 2?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/20/09 6:06:16 AM
SWG was an innovation of our time that many will remember and still have hurt feelings. It wasn't the first to develop a no-level skill sandbox MMO by any means but it was the one with the biggest impact. However with all my memories and fun times, it is just that memories and fun times. I trust Bioware to bring an innovation in story telling like no other studio produced before. I understand it won't be a true sandbox and that is alright. The point is you need to let go and let Bioware do what they do best, story telling. |

Part 2: The Final Top 3 MMORPGS - Angry Joe

Those videos were ill-informed and a scripted mess. Only thing you got going for you is the effects, I'd drop the angry bullshit. |

The day skill becomes running around jumping shooting arrows and swinging swords in circles while preforming river stomp is the day the pigs fly. Could you imagine an all out world war with nothing but the enemies and allies jumping and dancing around shooting their guns and screaming pew pew. For christ sakes... |

warning this game is not meant for the casual gamer

I think it brings realism and awesomeness combined. So to this day let MO be known as Relsome with a side of muffin or pudding which ever you prefer. |

"Meaningful PVP" I'm not sure what is so meaningful about killing a guy damn near bare ass for the fear he will loose his gear. |

Yep EA acquired it a long while ago. |

When your offered a free trial and this is the message you get when you enter the promo code. One wonders what the hell the free trial offer is even up for and it seems an advertising poly rather than the real deal. I don't understand how the game is still up, I can play if I buy a copy, but I can't try it first. That type of logic is just pathetic. |

Fasaria World - great MMO for fans of old school EQ type MMOs.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/08/09 4:20:04 AM
First of all I want to say you made a brave move coming into these forums to defend your company's MMO. You will get wanted attention but mostly unwanted attention it happens with every new MMO be it indie or otherwise. I understand you are going word of mouth because advertising is expensive and I'm not saying you are taking the wrong steps but spending your time here instead of over on your own turf is a mistake. People base opinions on other comments be it good or bad. However you answered and responded very professionally up to a point, once one user came here say something negative about the game I got a glimpse of the unprofessional yodablaze. As an indie gamer and application/web programmer myself I commend you on your achieve of launching your first 3d MMO it is defiantly something to be excited about. However the more and more I read about the game it turned me off when I realized the money digging is already starting. I understand you need money to keep up development and there in lies the problem with current payment model. As other people stated it would be way better as subscription base, even just $5 a month for a decent indie title, gamers will be willing to pay that to support the MMO. My main problem with your current model is one time payment, you can't grow with that income there is no way in hell. You are hoping to god people will buy the cash shop items. The community features really had me shocked:
So charge people for how the world wide web operates freely; youtube, flickr, twitter, facebook, myspace, msn, yahoo, skype and every other video sharing, image sharing, chat shoutting, community feature site does 100% ABSOLUTELY FREE! It's insane, an MMO is not a content site where you can freely run advertisements to rake in extra income, but you can not pull this off with this payment model. I beg you to rethink this payment model. You say most of the members enjoy and like how things are but really how long can you run a business under this model? Not very long. If you only have a handful of dedicated members, I'm sure your members would appreciate it more if they can count on continued development on the game rather than seeing it shut down shortly. I hope you don't take this as offensive and take it as constructed criticism. Also as said many of times get that trial out there ASAP this will be your main selling point be it any payment model. In this day and age in a world where the economy is still recovering from a lot of the major players, people are less willing to just chuck money your way and hope for the best. However if they try it and like you got an instant sale. Think on that yoda, cheers. |

Did Mines of Moria kill LOTRO?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 4/02/09 12:57:02 AM
Since MoM well really after book 12 in the original game the quality of the programming and support has gone down hill. There are exploits all over and some yet do exist, the anti-exploit system has fucked up in a big way. Nothing is more annoying then a mob stuck and you can't get the thing to respond and you all have to force log out. This is everywhere in any instance not just Moria, they screwed something up. They made a new raid had to bring it down shortly after just releasing it because of the amount of problems with it. Now today they opened up an april fools quests had to bring it down cause of server load and now they can't even get the servers back up and functioning correctly. Turbine used to be quality but now they are taking a shit dive straight to satan's asshole. Each book just brings more and more problems and less and less quality. It is apparent to me that the original team got shipped on a different title or next expansion for lotro within the company and a new team is taking dev on the updates and doesn't know the code all to well and now we get dog shit instead of supreme lobster. |
