Final Fantasy XIV: New Patch Coming October 4th
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/27/11 2:00:51 PM
Holy piss fit, this is always how mmorpg.com has been doing their news. It's always the basics like if you have an ADD child read a paragraph they pick out key phases. I'm sure there is laziness involved too, using the same pics saves the agonizing chore of uploading or linking an image. Really for this site it comes down to the headline. If headline doesn't say it all nothing does, I don't usual read the two sentences of their "overview" I just instantly click the link or watch the video. In other words it's expected this is their lazy routine and why I don't make much stops here anymore. |

Look you guys are here and made what you are because of MMO games. Instead of pissing us all off make an rpg guru site branding. There is no place for single player RPGs on this site and never will be. I don't care how close you want to call an RPG such as Skyrim to an MMO, the clear and simple point it is not an MMO. I've been creeping around this site for a long time, long before I even became a member. I've seen changes both good and bad but these have been tolerable. Change this into a RPG hub and you will see the backlash of your members as they find another site for their MMO news. There is a saying that should be taken into consideration here... Don't put all your eggs in one basket. |

You forgot an "e" its Nexeon. But otherwise it's good to see this game coming back from the dead. |

At least this time you guys used a unique layout and not farm out another guru template. Site looks nice. I'll be checking it out. Nice work. |

Final Fantasy XIV: Firefall Festival Begins Soon

It's also just an ingame event and not a title of a game so you know the whole legal name action is moot. |

None, stop making MMOs from IPs that already exist because then you are restricted to what is there and what you can make. But what you can make is always limited to what is there. You shoot yourself in the foot by using an already existing IP. Make new MMOs with new IPs. |

EA removing content from Steam. Forcing users to pick sides.
General Gaming « General Discussion 6/15/11 3:31:47 PM
The reason why steam has such a cult following is not only the sales but the DRM is virtually non existent. Add it to your cart, buy it, download it, and play it. It keeps a huge library, has tons of developers and publishers, the catalog is in amazing numbers. Now you got EA updating the EA manager but taking away digital games and making them exclusive. I'm all for them doing w/e they want (I won't fuckin use it) to games coming out, but when you list something on a service and take it away that's some bullshit. I believe that's where the OP is saying it's strong arm tactics. Valve exclusively sold Half life and portal series, but they never listed them elsewhere and then took them away that's where the line is drawn. For those who have Crysis 2 on steam I'm sure its still there to dl and play but you can no longer purchase it on the steam store. Which is a lost sale for them cause i wont buy it on origin that's for damn sure. |

Point fingers all you want, it isn't going to help the game. I'm just glad they realized their mistake and fixing it at quite a rapid pace. I'm having a decent time in the game now after waiting it out this long from beta and it's only going to get better with improvements. The new team deserves our credit, they are fixing what the old team screwed up. |

General: RTSGuru.com: Throwing Open the Doors
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/09/11 4:27:01 PM
Originally posted by Stradden Fair enough, just surprised none of the soon to be released RTS trailers are not in the videos, like shogun 2 for one. Just seems more full, I guess I never liked clicking on link to see "no resources" or "coming soon". I'm sure the site will eventually gain content but with the resources out there already for this kind of thing, besides a community forum what did you plan would set you guys apart? See mmorpg you guys had something from the start it wasn't something covered, but this type of thing ign, gamespot etc all have exclusive resources for this type of genre. All in all wish ya guys luck. |

General: RTSGuru.com: Throwing Open the Doors
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/09/11 3:39:49 PM
I'm not a fan with the design at all, it looks like an ad site the way it laid out and the basic elements of it. I see more ads then content... I was expecting videos, tons of reviews, there's nothing in there to even look at. I can get an RTS gamelist with google that's really all I see there. I would have worked on the content before opening the doors with nothing, people will come and see there is nothing there and then leave. That's my 2cents anyway, just seems lacking in every way. |

Selfish behavior and a complete lack of kindness from other players is running rampant...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/09/11 1:38:48 PM
I think it has everything to do with the new generations coming in. Kids these days are so unappreciated, hand-held, hand-feed. I've heard 12yr olds talk to their parents in a way I never thought possible. The rudiest insults I've ever heard yet they are living in this world for nothing. More kids getting in trouble with the law these days. You need to think these generations are mixing in with the MMO scene, like it not that's the attitude that is going to show since there is a lot more of it. You can thank WoW for this, games used to be "taboo" "dorky" now it's the best thing since sliced bread. It also doesn't help the newest MMOs do not focus on the community but the solo player gameplay. There is no community when not forced and everyone expects to get what they want no matter what they have to do, even screwing everyone over. |

If you like strategic PVP (Not just standing there clicking shit) you are going to very very let down... |

Don't be surprised when SWTOR gets millions of subscribers, cause I won't be. Nice post OP you dug up some information I didn't exactly know about or heard of in that context. Good find. |
|
I argued the point cause you threw it in your mix of points not because I personally agree or disagree with the art direction and world building. |

Have you never heard of FFX or FFX-2? That was clearly mainstream and the suck of the series. Excuses man just pure excuses. As for your OP there is logic in there that is entirely flawed. The lack of AH is nothing but a hassle for everyone, there is nothing special about it. If you like to randomly click retainers waiting for the next grab bag be my guest but don't tell me this is a clever feature. That would be like google sending me off to search results of apples when I searched for oranges. The copy and pasting doesn't save memory to process if anything it enhances it. As someone stated before me polygons are polygons they need to get rendered no matter what there is no special rule if hill A is loaded the rest is, it doesn't work that way. It was just lazy and more than likely they were crunched for time, but don't sit there and tell me it saves system requirements cause it doesn't. I'm sure the monsters get tougher as you climb that's any game, but most people are doing exactly what you said opposite. They have a rotation, it isn't FFXI strategic at all. I think they clearly missed the mark with what they wanted. It is in no way casual when that's what they wanted to appeal to. It's clear to me that mixed ideas started to get implemented in the middle of the project cause this blunderbuss of a situation for this game. I'm waiting it out, it'll improve but atm it is nothing to defend. |

How's the game? ("bit" of ranting involved)
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/25/10 8:18:38 PM
I won't rehash what others have been saying, it has it's problems sure and it is no where near polished. I will say this I loved FFXI and I've been a final fantasy fan since the dawn of time, I even tolerated ff13 when many criticized the hell out of it. Be that as it may I have passed on this game and will be waiting a few months watching the updates and fixes as they come out. My beta experience was more of a "wow this looks really awesome" however that excitement was quickly killed off with "wow this game plays like shit." Give it time and I'm sure it will catch wings, FFXI took a while I'm sure this will too. |

Final Fantasy XIV: I Think I'll Rest For Just a Moment
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/27/10 10:05:45 PM
Couldn't have been a better fanboi/fangirl comment. Yes lets all just accept a shabby system because the developer said so, the last I heard I vote with my wallet and it's them who loose out on the potential sale not me. If you are going to leave your opinion why not try backing it up with a little more than your rose colored glasses world. |

Final Fantasy XIV: I Think I'll Rest For Just a Moment
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/27/10 2:03:35 PM
Here's the problem with the system as is: Why the hell should I give a rat's ass about anyone else's time. I'm paying for it why I am getting penalized because BBQ Joe has to work his BBQ stand more hours out of the day then he can play. It is a penalty specially if you are one who likes to blow their weekend away cause that is the only time they have off. Who are they to tell me I suddenly can't level a mage job up that I enjoy because I hit the fatigue cap, that's absolute shit what if I hate the other classes now I'm being punished by having to sit and wait. I've been waiting for this game for a while but this is a bone-headed move, I'm waiting to hear a change or canceling my pre-order, I'm not going to play a MMO that compares my time with someone else's and then punish me because I can play more than said person. Pretty shitty if you ask me. |

You gathered all that from watching videos huh? Defiantly the smartest tool in the toolbox today. |
