It's actually either the same, .1 second longer, or .1 second shorter excluding rogues and druids in cat form.  At least come up with reasonable flames sir trollykins.

There's nothing wrong with people disliking the game, everyone's entitled to their opinion. There is something wrong, however, when they just can't seem to let go of that and continously try to ruin it for other people and go off on a crusade to prevent others from trying it.

You mean like the community over here do with the people who like WoW?

Anyway, the new mmo feeling will fade in time. Everything new is fun for a while. Wait and see in a few months when most people playing now are capped and done most of what WAR offers at the moment. You are allowed to dislike or like a game though, but the trolls will shoot you down no matter what, or atleast try to. That's forums for you

If you knew the people from WoW who posted here, and read their posts you would understand why WoW players get a bad name.  Just read up on coffee, bodypass, and fingis posts and threads.  They are the main three from the WoW community who come over this way.  You seem intelligent and literate.  Please read their posts/threads.

Very well written write up, and follow up.  I added this to the review compilation sticky.

If you try and discuss the cons of a game anymore you get decimated by the fanbois, I feel there are some very signifcant issues with WAR which I just posted but I know I will be flamed by fanbois.

Yeah well before we discussed the good and bad in a constructive way.  Ever since the game that shall not be named has come out it's extreme in both directions.  I only remember seeing one or two well put together posts discussing the negatives of the game, and they have a lot of good discussion about it.

I wish I would have done more comparisons from before to after.  It might just be that because it looks smoother I notice how much more immersive the environments are, but it just feels a lot better.

Yeah definitely.  I have the perfect MMO created in my mind.  I have thought about it for like 5 or 6 years.  It is nothing like WAR.  Not even one aspect of it.  That doesn't mean I can't enjoy WAR.  I want a good sandbox as bad as anyone, but I still have fun with WAR.  I had a lot of fun for the first 60 or so levels of AoC too.  I also had a lot of fun in Vanguard.  All of these games brought out the trolls.  Now the Sandbox guys are teaming up with WoW fanboys to flame WAR because they forgot how to enjoy MMO's.  These so called sandboxers are shallow as hell.

This used to be a place to celebrate launches and find fun in new experiences, but now it is full of pety crap, immature trolls, and people who have forgotten what gaming is all about and how to have fun.

What's happened to the people who play MMORPG's is the real question.  This post, and half the posts here make me embarassed to be a part of this genre.

Unless you title it, 'First Impression Review'.

You know the PvE part of this made me realize how crappy PvE/AI etc. has always been in MMO's.  The thing is older and more classic MMO's had harder fights that required teamwork like in FFXI the AI is as basic as can be, but because it takes 6 people to fight something your level it just feels more right.  When you solo PvE and blast through content this kind of AI shows it's flaws.  PvE in WoW and WAR are both equally as boring as far as quest grinding, but then again so are all other previous MMO's.  At least there are PQ's to add in some spice.

I think it is too hard to put a number of PvP so far and I am almost level 20.  Some of the scenarios have been ridiculously fun, but some have been average.  In general of the 12 scenarios I think the worst is still better than the best in WoW which is a plus for me.

I find it hard to rate the game though other than labeling it a 'first impression review' because I try to imagine what the game will be like towards end game.  I know in WoW I can either grind out weaksauce battleground's or do arena, or be in a dramatic arse guild and repeat the same PvE dungeons with the same annoying tools on vent.  I know in FFXI I can hunt down gods, grind out merits, but at least in FFXI the social aspect is there and I can never predict what a play session will be like.  With WAR I just don't know.  I can see a constant struggle of power going on as each side tries to take the others city.  I can see a lot of crazy PvP.  The thing is I can't really put a finger on it right now.

Anyway thanks for your opinion.

Just to have a look at the inside of this man's head  - and hate against a .... game .(?!?!)  ...I highlighted the insanity of it all.

Man you ARE fucked up. ..

So you think that the dwarf/greenskin scenario played at 50 meters distance with each flag 20 meters apart and played on a surface of say 10% of the original WSG is still better designed than ANY BG of WOW ???

You dear boy, lost ALL credit to everyone.

----> What did Blizzard do: rape your mother ???

First you highlighted half my sentence.  I said PvE in WoW and WAR are both equally as boring as far as quest grinding.  If you think quest grinding PvE in WoW is less boring then I don't know what to tell you.  Instead of having to kill 10 lions for 10 lion heads you have to kill 40 lions for 40 lion heads.  Damn so much less boring.

Did I stutter?  Yes I like every scenario I have played in WAR more than any BG in WoW.  Whip out all your little area % stats that you want and it doesn't change the fact that I have more fun with scenarios in WAR than with WoW.  Maybe because WAR is a team based game and BG's/Scenarios are a team vs. team competition.

Yes most end game WoW PvE based raid guilds are more dramatic than a 9th grade classroom.  I am sorry for this fact.

Ok for each Tier (1-4) there are 3 pairings.  In each pairing for each Tier (3 races x 4 tiers = 12 large zones) there is a large RvR area.  At each of these areas there is a warcamp for each side of the army and at these camps are flight masters.  From those you can fly to any other camp in the game, and to the main cities.  At any time you can fly to another pairing and participate there and as you move into Tier 2 you will want to jump around to do quests in different areas.

For scenarios there are 12, one for each pairing in each tier (or 1 per large zone that I talked about).  They are all very different and offer different play styles.  I think empire vs. chaos is the most popular pairing so there will be more action there (more zerg though).

Armor drops from mobs, bosses in PvE and RvR, other players, and is rewarded via quests.  Great armor and weapons can be earned doing PQ's and spending your influence points that you get by doing them.  Renown gear should only be available now I think from keeps that your side owns and is great gear as well.  You can definitely mix and match as you go.

The quests you go on will guide you as you get close to level 10-11 out of Blighted Isle and into the next Tier for your pairing.

Woah I just got to 'i'll give EQ2 and AoC a try'.  I wouldn't do either honestly.  I wish you played more than a couple hours a night and I would say play FFXI.  FFXI is more EQ2 than EQ2 will ever be.  Either FFXI or you can give this a try and maybe you will enjoy the RvR/PvP.  Honestly though, I would look into FFXI.

Get past tier 1 and you will see that it is pretty balanced.  In huge Zerg battles like what happens in Tier 1 ranged dps will always seem powerful because they are the ones doing damage.

I think I talk too much if anything.  I collect any of the gear for certain classes that aren't mine and give them to people randomly and start chatting with them.  If I run into someone PvE'ing I usually hang out for a second, and in Scenarios I have a lot of fun chatting especially on the RP server.

We won 9 out of 11 battles in the T2 elf pairing today.  It is one of the ones where zerging really hurts your chance at winning.  Usually when you get spanked there is a large amount of total level difference on the sides.  When it is even Order wins 7 times out of 10.  Maybe.

Hmm maybe someone will make an .iso of the dvd's and upload them at some point.  Keep an eye on torrentz.com.  It isn't pirating because you would have to buy a key anyway.  If someone else doesn't do it maybe I will sometime.  I know a lot of friends in Europe are having us buy them the package and send the key over.  I bet .iso's will be floating around soon.

Actually the first thing I would do is look at someone like bodypass's post history and then decide whether or not he is worth your time.

Meh I wonder how far you got before you judged animations and spell effects.  Think of other MMO's and show me badass spell effects and animations at level 1-10.

I was just wondering if we could please have another 5 pages of reviews from players who haven't gotten out of Tier 1.

I want a GOOD game to come along to compete with WOW and  Warhammer is not even close.

So your only gona buy an MMO because it competes with WoW?

Edit: 1st post

WELCOME TO ALL THAT IS MMORPG.COM.  You registered just in time for a mainstream launch.  I guarantee the varying levels of intelligence and petty arguing on an internet forum will be epic and will make you question the meaning of life.

They have game time cards.  I saw about 100 of them at Target this morning.  It seemed like they were all 29.99 so they are probably 2 month cards.  Maybe they have other durations.
