Not to mention that if you are just starting out, your swordsmanship will be at such a low level that you wouldn't be hitting for very much or know any techniques with it.
The way UO had it was that items had some sort of basic strength requirement, but essentially any newbie could wield any weapon. They would miss a crap-ton if they had a katana of vanquishing and no swordsmanship/tactics skill to compliment the weapon, and their hits would be weak, and they would die and get it looted, but they could still weild it. I would assume that the Darkfall system will be at the very least reminiscent of the UO system. |

I really like how you pointed out how bad the argument is, and then used it at the end of your post as your own argument. |

graphics aren't EQ1ish or AC'ish. They are decent. Graphics aren't bad , the animations are.

who cares? I don't want other gameplay areas lacking because they wanted to spend more time and money on something as silly as animations. I don't want to wait another 2 years so their 5 person art team can get some great animations.
This game isn't about the graphics or the animations, if you can't stomache it, there are hundreds of other games that'll have some sick new animations, go play one. |

Why do MMO companies think they can charge monthly for a beta game?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/20/07 4:02:10 PM
This is where companies get off thinking they can charge 15 bucks a month for a beta game: Because we allow it.
Just because it doesnt make sense, is wrong in your eyes, or for whatever reasons, doesn't mean that companies shouldn't do it. It's actually quite smart tbh... until the consumer says no, and the company no longer deems it worthy to do.
You vote with your dollar, period.
Hopefully companies will take a look at what happened with Vanguard, and decide in the future to wait to release thier game. |

experiences with buying games online
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/18/07 10:20:10 PM
I have been away from MMORPG's for a few years now, and looking to get back in. Since I can't really afford anything I started to look into ebay and amazon stores. What are your peoples' experiences with buying from these guys? I mean they seem incredibly legit, with over 97% positive feedback, thousands and thousands of other items, etc. But the price is only 1/4 of what I would pay at the store or a publishers site. I can get the game I'm looking at for 6.00+3shipping from an ebay store, where the publisher sells for 40, amazon for 30. Am I going to not be able to create an account? Not get the CD key? Get scammed? Or is this legit?
The game + a free initial 30 days for HALF the price of one normal month of subscription fees... seems too good to be true... |

FPV restricts from seeing over objects your crouched behind, around walls your hiding behind, etc. In DAoC you could be behind someone, and be seen, they could be completely behind a tree watching you, you could be almost on the edge of wall, but pan the camera around to see whats on other side, etc etc. As for melee being funner in the FPV, the devs switched it to a tight 3PV because they thought it was funner to melee like that rather then a FPV. |
