Generously put 4-6 months. Hope I'm proven wrong and it lasts longer than that. |

I'm thinking that if you find yourself with full best-in-slot before an expansion (and thus new levels, gear) is released, it'd be a good time for a break you hardcore freak. ;) gearing in this game will be a hell of a grind, trust me. Deal with this fact now rather than later. |

In order for a game to finally achieve "WoW killer" status, it will have to be simplistic enough to lure away the braindead masses, thus being of no real interest to players such as myself, who don't want it all on a silver platter. Indeed, I am thankful that Aion will not be a WoW killer. |

Outrageous... $75 for the normal version? $115 for full-loot version? Obama... I need a bailout!

1.For the most part, I think the game will run OK on your system using medium-low'ish settings - in raids and large scale PvP I can forsee issues, however. Consider upgrading if you want a better experience, I think you could upgrade quite significantly on a low budget. 2.Yes the Beta is not constant, but events every few weeks. 3. The headstart, as far as I'm aware, is 5 days in the EU and 2 in the US. |

I'm afraid the joke is on you, friend. 'Going gold', in the context of game production, means the development stage has finished and the game is going to print or is simply ready for release. It is not to be confused with the certification used in music that indicates a number of units sold. |

So far I feel that Fallen Earth is shaping up to be the next best thing. I'd take a populated and well-supported Neocron over it anyday, though! |

Mostly agree with the OP, except on the first point. Just because one hasn't PvP'd before, doesn't mean Darkfall shouldn't be their first PvP experience - in my first MMO's I was ganked and looted numerous times before I found my feet, yet it never put me off. Perhaps you should replace it with; "if you're the type to give up instead of improve and adapt" |

Yes, I wasn't completely sure if insurance prevented items being looted or reimbursed the player - I'll have double check and amend it if I've assumed wrongly. Thanks for the positive words, I only recently started to try my hand at blogging :)
:edit: Seems I was correct: forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php" "items are not duplicated thus creating inflation, instead the victim gets to keep his insured inventory and the killer gets only those items that were not insured" |

Here's an early preview of the game that I wrote, it's based on the little information the developers have released so far, I hope it's informative to those just discovering Earthrise :) http://theobstinator.blogspot.com/2008/12/earthrise-early-preview.html |

Nothing is fun about being ganked, PK'd, and losing hours of hard work.

To the OP and all those talking about 'being interrupted is no fun', 'being ganked is no fun'. The game is obviously not for you, why not play one of the many carebear games available to you instead? Some of us appreciate the immersion factor of risk versus reward, yes we're a minority, but we're a minority that this game is promising to cater for. I don't understand the mentality behind already having 95% of on-line games on the market catering to your needs, and still feeling the need to have the other 5% bend to your will also. |

Waiting to join with a group of people

I just recently decided that I might return to the game. I played it back in '04 when it hit in the US but only lasted a couple of months due to the group wait times driving me nuts. I might bring a couple of friends of my own, but I'm not yet sure if they'll like the game. But we'll still need more people for regular groups.. so, perhaps we can hook up :) Only thing is, I'm in the UK so timezones may be an issue depending on where you are.. |
