More soloer venom. You guys really hate that some people work together and achieve things you could never even attempt.  That's ok though, you can have your shit games mechanics that act 100% as a timesink and nothing else, I'll be playing real games like L4D2 or Borderlands having a blast in Coop.

More grouper delusion.  We don't give a damn what you do, just don't try to force *US* to do it too.  That means you don't deserve any extra rewards, group-only content, etc.  If you want to go take on higher-level content and make extra XP, go for it.  Have fun.  We don't care.  We'll get there in our own sweet time.  But of course, it's attitudes like this that make a lot of soloers think groupers are complete assholes.

And unfortunately, a lot of them are.

Well if you think grouping doesn't deserve extra reward then why should solo content deserve the same reward as group? The reason why I think group content should deserve an extra reward is they are taking extra time to get a group together. They are having to work together to achieve a higher goal, there is more chance for them to mess up because there are more people.

It just doesn't make any sense for someone to solo something and get the same reward as a group,  it makes grouping pointless  if you can just go in and solo it. Why bother taking the extra time to get people if you can do it yourself.

Now I agree game should have solo content, like quests and stuff because I sometimes don't have the time to find a group but some things should force you to group up to get the better rewards.

The thing is with most mmo's now days there is really no need to group up most of the time. If you can solo quests then why group up and make the game even easier. Im guessing people want a challenge because I sure am looking for a challenge when I play a game and group up. Most of the time when I group up in a game I feel like im in God mode which really isn't fun.

Now if quests would change for how many people in the group to give challenge that would be awesome, so if the people want to solo they can but if people want a challenge and group up it will get harder. Thats the way to do it because ive experienced games where its just a solofest where you can only find a party to get phat loot and nobody else wanted to group up after that because they didnt really need to.

So if ur lazy and only read this part this is what it all comes down to. It seems that people will only group up unless they are forced to group up because im sure if people were able to solo dungeons they would.

Some people are just stupid, need I say more? America has gone sue happy our judicial is being abused and some judges actually are in favor of the tards that sue. Like that one lady who spilled coffee on her and sued because she didn't know the coffee was hot. I mean how fucking retarded are you lady? if you don't know coffee was hot  you shouldn't even be driving, hell me 3 year old niece knows coffee is fucking hot.

Well if people are playing MMO's to relax thats cool by me there are tons of them out there that have auto target spam 12345. But why can't devs make more MMORPG's for people that like  twitch combat and don't play games to relax but to stimulate the mind and body?

I mean come on how hard is it  to move your hands maybe a total of 6 inches to a foot at most? Even though its not much movement it does stimulate your body improves your hand eye coordination. PvPing always gets my hyped up and im more alert and sometimes I even get a bit nervous when playing. Call me lame if you will but this is why I like to play games.

2. an activity or recreation that provides such relief; diversion; entertainment.
3. a loosening or slackening.
4. diminution or remission of strictness or severity.

a. the return of a system undergoing dissipation to an initial state of equilibrium after being displaced from it.
b. the approach to steady-state operation of a system that has undergone dissipation and a change in state or has been subjected to an abrupt periodic disturbance.

The first thing basically says Relaxation is the relief from bodily or mental work.   Even though gaming is entertainment it still can make you think or do physical stuff so its really not relaxing.

Likewise, definition two states: "an activity or recreation that provides such relief; diversion; entertainment."

As well, you can't possibly say that playing games is taxing or effort; FPS or not.

Well I guess relaxation is different to other people.  when I want to relax I don't want to think at all. Playing games no matter what game it is makes me think and playing the Wii surely isn't relaxing to me since im constantly moving the remote.  But I guess to some people playing games can be relaxing.

I'm not sure you know what relaxing is.  Puzzle games challenge your brain, they make you think.  Relaxation is a state of mind where you're not doing much thinking.

Maybe you should look up "relaxation" in the dictionary.

From your definition ..notice the "OR" ?

Gaming isn't for relaxation.  By it's very interactive nature you are supposed to be involved in what's going on on the screen, not sitting back and watching it.  If you want to go relax, go do something passive like watching a movie or TV, or listening to music.  This is by far the thing that bugs me the most that people bring up as to why they play games.  It makes about as much sense as drinking coffee to relax.  IT'S FULL OF CAFFEINE!

If anyone ever needed to be told that gaming wasn't for them, it is by far these people.

Haha, wow.  What a crazy statement.

I imagine if you ever walked into a gaming cafe you'd start shaking the first MMORPG player you saw, "GAMING ISN'T FOR YOU! STOP USING GAMES TO RELAX!  DON'T YOU SEE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!?!?"

Meanwhile, companies will continue to make games with relaxing pacing, and continue making good money by doing it.

I think youre completely missing his point. Hes right, gaming isnt meant to be "relaxing", its meant to be fun and exciting and entertaining. If i wanted to just sit there and stare at a screen and not have to think and react at all and just have everything on auto-pilot... well i wouldnt bother playing games, id just do like he says and go watch tv or read a book or something. If the combat is extremely boring and repetitive (which the majority of games have become lately) i lose interest in the game extremely fast, whereas in FPS/twitch games (when done properly), the combat constantly offers something unique, it is pretty much entirely based on skill, reflexes, quick thinking, etc and you constantly find yourself coming up against other players who are improving their skill and give you a greater challenge and keep it fun, rather than basically just level and equipment being all that matters, with practically no skill involved in winning a battle.

Actually, it really depends on what genre of games you are talking about. Puzzle games and Adventure games for example are fun , entertaining and ...RELAXING...and yes, they are still called "games"

Puzzle games aren't in the least relaxing to me at all. Ever play safecracker for the Wii?  That game fries my frickin brain it gets my thinking so much.  A game will either stimulate the mind or the body in some way.  When I relax I just watch some TV or play some guitar.

I, personally, hate FPS games.  I avoid them like a plague and would avoid any mmo that took up that play style with no choice otherwise.

I don't like FPS as well but the Action RPG or as I call them FPSRPG, I love them. I love FPS combat but since there is no character progression not really any customization of weapons and armor i get bored of shooting people really quick.  But with games like Fallen Earth, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Morrowind and Oblivion, i am so hooked on those games. You get to interact with NPC's make choices that effect the game and other things just like any other RPG but with the sweetness of twitch based combat. That is good in my book its like having your cake and eating it too.

I may not be the best at FPS and get owned a lot when playing against people but I still have fun though.  What is it that you don't like in FPS style combat and is it just the combat that wouldn't make you play a FPSRPG?

I like the Ideas of the op.  If they make less quests but ad bonus XP to those quests it would be sweet, as well as having multiple ways of completing a quests be it slaying everything or sneaking around or just talking your way out of something.  Quest xp was introduced to try and disguise the grinding of mobs but in all reality its just the same thing but a little stupid story to go along with it.

We need quests that will make us think and aren't just go kill X creatures because they are attacking the village.  Put unique puzzles in games make us ask every NPC in town to find quests or to find the right information. More exploring and less killing that is what will make a game not seem as grindy.

One of the most impressive "graphic features" of MO, something that strikes you almost as soon as you log into the game, and something I didn't see that impressive since Asheron's Call 1, is the view distance. That makes for an immersion level no recent game has managed to achieve, and certainly not darkfail and it's lame very close "war fog". You also don't see the sky and the moon through water, through the fog, through the floor, like on that other amateurishly designed engine.

You think the screenshots look nice? It looks 10x nicer when you are in the game and everything moves :)

Looks great indeed, and I can think of one that matches it. however, I wont derail the thread. The visuals are good in mortal online.

There were indeed a few games that had a quite long view distance, like e.g. Age of Conan. Problem is in those games, what you see in the distance is mere decoration, and you will never be able to get to it. In MO, if you see it, you can get to it, or very close, it really exists, it's not just fluff added to look good. Just like in Asheron's Call. That's what makes one of the differences between a "world" and a " theme park".

Yeah it does have a nice draw distance and there is one game as well that I know of if you can see it you can get to it. Save for when you get killed by radiation but the world has to end somewhere right?  This game looks really good but im not sure if I could handle FPV all the time.

Vampires are cool as in WoD type vampires or Underworld is cool too. Sorry but I thought the Twilight style vampires were gay, literally they sparkle i mean come on how gay is that? I only watched it because of Kristen Stewart.  But hey if you like that sort of thing more power to you, after all it was made for girls,so lets just agree to disagree.  Who knows someday they might just get their own MMO.

But yeah every MMO will have a grind in some way or another but. Im so glad that WoD is coming out, I just hope CCP don't mess this up cuz I was very disappointed with DDO. I hope its a huge open world, and has a awesome character progression system. I will be playing a Vampire because Ive always loved vampires even before I started playing the  WoD tabletop game.

I was like you for a while but I didn't quit playing games I just had to find a good MMO again and finally found one. I used to do nothing but play video games since I can remember.  Its best to do other things as well as play games, like pick up playing guitar or some instrument if you don't already play one or find some other hobby.

I tend to go through these phases where I might do nothing but play games, work on music or just sit and watch movies.  I also try to hang out with friends on the weekends and play games during the week so im not doing the same thing 7 days a week.

Wow man some people are just unbelievable, saying Aions xfire numbers are faked, but yet they swear by their games xfire numbers. LOL oh man it just slays me.   Then the whole thing about an Aion post being in the Pub kills me to, its not like there isn't other posts about WoW in there either.  I think it belongs in General discussion. Yes it could go into Aion's part of the forum but this is some big new and it should be seen by everyone not just the people that only look at the Aion forums.   I say let more people have a chance to see this game, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean someone else won't.

I guess people are just so scared of their game getting knocked down a notch that they will bitch about anything. Its sad really, but its just some peoples nature to bring other people down so they can feel better. Yeah the game may have some similarities to WoW but WoW had a lot of similarities to other games before its time.

If this expansion or whatever comes out before FFXIV then I might just have to check out this game, maybe they will have a free trial by then.

If you like to do a solofest of quest grinding then group up to get some phat loot and everyone scatters, the go back to a quest grind and repeat all that over till max level. Then get in groups and do the same raid instances over and over and over again to get that phat loot, then this is the game for you.  Oh wait I guess you could do the same BG over and over and over again for phat loot too.

Old info.

Get an update on current WOW play please.

24/7 group play at any time at any level as of patch 3.3. (ty cross servers).

And in Cata two new leveling systems: a guild leveling ranking in PVE and PVP (together with rated BG's (like the Arena's now) and a new end game leveling system (Path of Titans).

More than enough challenges to a newbee.

The thing is it wasn't all that hard to find a group for a dungeon, that wasn't the problem, the problem was that you couldn't find a group just to do quests. Id tried so many times asking people in the area I was doing quests, if they wanted to group up with me. Most of the time I never got an answer. Maybe it was just my server or something but ive never met so many anti social people in my life.

But its cool that they are adding in some new stuff to do but Im just tired of fantasy games in general.  Sorry for not being up to date, I don't really pay attention to games I don't play anymore.  I was just stating my experiences from when I last played 6 months ago.

If that is the way you play WoW, then yes that is what you get out of WoW.

Believe me I tried to get people to group up with me all the time, but it don't happen why? Because you can pretty much solo the quests and if there is no reason to group up people wont.  If you could solo dungeons you know people would just do that themselves.

But really all there is to MMO's is Quests, killing mobs, getting loot and PvPing, and there is crafting. I enjoy questing but I enjoy it more with a group.  I enjoy killing mobs but more in groups. Im sure you see what im getting at.  Im just stating my experience with WoW, and It wasn't my choice to play this way its how the game was made and other peoples choices that forced me to play the way I did. If it were up to me, Id be grouped up pretty much 24/7.

Well I give them credit for not ripping off the Warhammer greenskin starting area.  While I do love playing goblins in games it would take a lot more than that to get me to come back.

Voice chat

Raiding

I actually like voice chat and in some games you pretty much have to have voice chat or else its a lot harder to play the game. Like Fallen Earth, since its not auto attack you have to quit all combat and just let mobs hit you while your typing. When using vent I can continue to fight and or run while I only have to press Z and say help.  If I did this without voice chat most likely Id be dead by the time I typed help and they got over to me. Just mute who you think is annoying, its as simple as that.

Now as for raiding, I like to do raids but for the fun of taking a boss down not for gear. Raiding IMO should never give you gear, money and XP is what it should only give you. WoW totally pissed me off because of they way they handled raiding. I don't want to run the same damn thing over and over again just to get some phat loot. Sorry but that is borrrrrrrriiiiinnnnnnggggg

The Quest Grind..  IMO quests should be few but long, interesting and hard to complete. I would be down for a game where it like takes multiple game sessions to complete a single quest. But I guess that is just me.
