Exactly what you stated here... i'm not mad that there is a delay, infact i'd rather there would be a delay if the game isn't prepared, it's AVs general lack of communication that is frustrating. And for the record i bought and played DF for just over 2 years, so yes i did contribute to AV. All they need to do is stop lying, say they're launching it in january, and there ya go.

oh and as someone who has played DF for a while.

OKOK I'm tryint to understand peoples anger.  Do you honestly think that AV is sitting on the game saying "LOL let's delay it and see them get mad LOLLOL!OL!OL!OL! We aren't making any money but they're mad this is great!!!"

yes i really do think thats what boss tasos is saying. Have you heard of funhulks?

Hi,

I've been scouring the Darkfall forum of late, and am impressed and weirded out by the level of inside jokes and overarching, shared aesthetic. This is the kind of thing I've only seen when people share a passion and connection to something, so it makes me almost freakishly excited to learn more about this game. It's like, I can see that there's something special about Darkfall through the eyes of its players.  I mean, there's something kind of damp and strange about it, but that just makes it more titilating. Is it okay to refer to the Darkfall community as "titilating"?

Here is a list of the terms I have seen bandied about, and I'm hoping someone can offer some insight as to what each one means:

1) "Do you even lift?"  Gym reference to determine your real life toughness, and nerd-level

2) GSO  Get Sh*t on (something to say when you beat another player either in game or on forumfall)

3) Derp Retarded

4) Pixils Armor, weapons, gold, ingame stuff

5) Robed Warrior (or something like that, I lost track of the thread)  Likely a reference to a percieved "ungeared or undergeared" player, (can't take someone's stuff if their not wearing anything worth taking)

6) "Fuck it, we'll do it live"  Launching without an official beta test

If anyone would care to add to this list, please gimme some terms and I'll pop them into this post. I'll add the meaning to each as they're explained. Thank you, Darkfall Community.

I was hoping you could elaborate on this:

How does the term "Pixils" refer to Armor, Weapons, gold, etc.? What does that even mean?  And how did the term come about?

Did Tasos ever actually say "Do you even lift" or "fuck it, we'll do it live"?

omg guy...

pixels refer to the ingame items, cause thats how they are displayed through pixels, meaning when you die you lose those items (pixels).

no tasos never actually said do you even lift, its an internet saying that people originally said to prove how tough they are over the internet, it turned into a joke to say the least. Fuck it we'll do it live is from bill o'reilly, the fact that you never... you know what i don't even... just watch this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5qU4qudJYk

Dunno if anyone has played it/heard of it, but...

Went pirate in a space mmo called star sonata (a game where pvp is taboo, political bullshit really.) Slaughtered everything and everyone i ever came across, griefed people, shit talked, until the point where the entire playerbase was complaining so much, an admin set me up and banned me under the term (griefing), which said admin claimed no longer existed in the mmo.

yea ima dick.

although others have different ways of measuring success, and some may not agree, but Darkfall is by far my favorite MMO i've ever played.

lmfao listen to all of you, AV has got you by the balls and you don't even know it. As far as i'm concerned, they are marketing geniuses.

...we are talking about a game release setback, not some balls.......man you need to get out of the closet SON!

i know, i didn't really read the entire thread. just thought it was funny to see how many people are clawing at their keyboards to play this game. :)

In DF1 the closest thing DF had to EVE's security was guard towers throughout the starter cities and random banks along the way. They would ZAP and attack red(there was/is an alignment system.) players or players of an enemy race. Blue (friendly) would not get attacked, but if war were declared on enemy clan and you were both in said city, it was fair game. There use to be clans who would war dec everyone just to grief them in starter cities, but they fixed that issue, i have no idea why they decided to go with straight safe zones.

This game wasn't designed for hardcore PVErs, sorry but thats how it is and I don't think it will change anytime soon. Any PVE safezone will be player created by the clan you join, if you join a highly active, large numbered clan, people are going to be scared to come near your cities, or your mob spawns, cause they know they're going to get zerged out, this is about as safe as it will get. Even if you aren't in a big clan, just cause you don't have your unstoppable NPC guarding you will you mindlessly kill AI doesn't mean your going to get ganked 100%. Although the risk is high, finding remote low traffic areas, farming close to a bank so you can at least have the chance of saving some of the loot you worked for. Remember there is no local chat icons to tell who is in your vicinity, people have to visually spot you, or hear you to find you. (assuming they fixed load lag)

lmfao listen to all of you, AV has got you by the balls and you don't even know it. As far as i'm concerned, they are marketing geniuses.
how can you say there is a lack of solid information, im pretty sure they've discussed EVERYTHING the community has wanted to know, they've been releasing videos, doing interviews, all the while putting in as much work as they can for launch... this is the greatest AV has ever been with information. please enlighten me with some information that is missing.
Another question:

In games you can usually press a key, lets use Alt for example, and you can see monsters, npcs, and players name floating over the heads telling you their position, is this possible on Darkfall or are the names always hidden until you reach a certain distance, say 5 feet from it?

I ask because I usually play roles where I can hide and attack from a distance.

There are no healthbars or name markers on the GUI until as you said, you get 5 feet from your target and put your cursor over it. So yes hiding behind a tree and watching someone kill a mob, then swooping in and surprise attacking them is perfectly viable :D

EQ suffered without instances (in terms of camping rare spawns, not general leveling.
EQ flourished without instances, finding good gear was hard, and you had to be prepared to fight for it, everyone wasn't running around with the same easily obtained gear.

The leveling portion, as I said, was great without instances. But waiting in a virtual line for a spawn is not a game mechanic many people want to see return. Fighting the monsters should be enough challenge to get gear. There's no challenge to waiting in line, that's just "who has more time to waste"

except when you kill the person infront of you, then things get intresting. this is darkfall.

Although i agree, instancing has no place in MMOs, the whole ideal of playing an online game is being in an online world, instancing just limits player interaction, along with stupid things like matchmaking ques, reduces the need for guilds/clans when you can just que up with randoms, and go on your little risk free adventure, call me too hardcore, but thats just way to carebear.

I am a little worried about the game seeing all the knockbacks and the brawler role. If it ends up being another script fest then its done.

theyve already stated they have fixed the gui, and they're reducing a lot of spell availability, there should be no reason to use scripts anymore, why would knockbacks and mobility skills worry you? you afraid you have to aim at a moving target?

I agree with uwhop. Darkfall is and will continue to be a big pvp arena. I will check it out but doubt I will stay.

I want a game like darkfall with local banking and localized resources. I want pack mules and caravans everything else that local banking adds to the game.

All this does is put players on mobility limitations, people will flock to one area and stay there because they don't want to have to deal with moving all their shit to another, and losing it. Although i can see how it would be kinda cool.

Caps are not necessary, not everyone will want to be a crafter, you act as if you all of a sudden get 100 in every crafting school. There is still the gathering of resources, which in 2.0 is suppose to be even harder than 1.0 (seeing as how there are suppose to be danger zones and proper resources drop deeper in) and the grind. Only the select few that want to craft will go through the great lengths of increasing there crafting skills, it was like that in 1.0 and it will be like that in 2.0. (before skill increase, how hard was it to get or find a q5 chanter?)
This game will fail? thats what they told rocket, the creator of DayZ, last i checked he had over 1.3 million unique users logging onto his MOD (not even a real fucking game), and got a job to create a standalone version. GSO (<- learn that term you're going to hear it a lot in DF2.0).

Plenty of games change their title, when launching an expansion.

Plenty of games add or alter classes and class systems, with an expansion.

Plenty of games include bug fixes and UI updates, with an expansion.

Plenty of games add areas, sounds, and update graphics, with an expansion.

So what sets this apart from an expansion to the original title?  Is it just because they are getting rid of the massive amount of time dedicated players spent playing it, by deleting their characters?

It is a bit silly to have it on the hype meter for a game in development when the game has been released for quite a while.  Unless having it there is a jab by calling it a game in development still, which I could understand and laugh at such a joke.

why is diablo 3 called diablo 3 and not diablo 2: new shit version?

im assuming they started working on this game like 2 years ago, and the reason they havent released it is cause of it still needs some finishing touches, so i guess it would be out on the 12th. but... i still have no faith in AV.

thats ok, you can be one of those people who sits still trying to aim in combat, and then Q.Q when you lose hours worth of gear cause the game has bad mechanics.

You have to stand still to aim, or am I reading that wrong?

/facepalm
