I've been playing for over 2 years and I don't have a single lvl 250 skill. I'm still damn good in a fight and plenty useful in PvP battles. I do have several lvl200 skills, but only 2 of them are combat related.

It's not your level but what you do with it and how you use it. Skill is in the player :D

SkyJackal, I replied to your message. If you like you can post my reply here if you still have it. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of it anymore, my outbox only has old stuff in it. If not I'll re-respond here for you.

I don't know what happened to the comment thread actually Jackoba. It seems to have disappeared with the site redesign. I don't handle that stuff though. I'm jsut the writer :D

You're right, I didn't mention those two things. Mainly because I wanted to focus on just how the Ring works. But your'e right, those are problems and they will need to be fixed.

Also have a look at the Tech Support section of the Ryzom.com forums. I know I've seen this problem there before.

So basically, aside from the lore, this is a protection from Bots in the game farming.  Correct?

Also, does this also apply to living creatures being hunted over and over?

Never thought of it as protection from botting, but I guess it could be that too.

The lore reason for the kami tolerance is so that we don't damage the planet. Kami tolerance has gotten bad in some area in the past and we couldn't dig those areas, Dyron being the most common example, until people started digging elsewhere or the tolerance went up again without being killed stone dead by the Kami.

This only applies to harvesting, not hunting. It's specifiecally damage to the planet done by harvesting.

And we do chat in the Universe channel at times. Just as long as you aren't obnoxious and you answer questions whenthey come in, things are usually pretty relaxed in there.

There's no mention about the comparison to the quests in Silan because it was written months before Silan went live. If you read the editor's note you'd know this. So before you whine make sure you've read everything.

Yes they will. And there are things to gain, but they aren't personal things. The bggest thing to PvP for is the outposts. And if ya win your whole guild wins and gets the outpost and the benefits of having it.

There are a couple pvp guilds running around on the aripostle server. You won't be shunned for being a PvPer.

What you may be shunned for is being a ganker and having a bad attitude. Something I see nothing of atm from your post since you politely asked about the game and its PvP system.

Give the game a try.

No, the events aren't perfect. I never said they were. And sure they could do with some work. But in the recent months the RP aspect of the events have improved. I've actually held conversations and RPed with what I knw are NPC event characters (Rehn for example). This wouldn't have happened 6 months or a year ago. The electing of the Tryker governer, if that isn't involvement then I don't knwo what is. Not everything a player does will influence the storyline. Sorry but that's jsut not really realistic to think that could happen.

I don't have a clue what the Event Managers know. (Or even what an event manager specifically but I can guess) I don't know who Nevrax fired cause I don't work for Nevrax. So you'll excuse me if I don't take your word on these two things til someone from Nevrax verifes it. (or someone can point me to official nevrax info I've obviously missed)

You get out of the events what you put into them sometimes. When given the chance to interact, which is happening alot more often now, then do so. Don't expect things to be handed to you.

In the last few days they fixed a known proble with the corrupt download. So if he'd jsut had a look at the forums he woulda seen this wasn't jsut him andhe would've seen it wasn't jsut him.

Determined and smart people will have a look to try to fix the problem or see if others are having the problem. Impatient people won't. You can guess who I'd much rather be playing with.

Compepletely untrue. Every weekend there is an event and most of the time it has something to do with big storyline stuff. Why jsut recently the players voted in the new governer or Tryker. The stroylines have not stopped, they're still going and the players are still involved. Just because it isn't getting headlines doesn't mean it isn't happening.

No, you don't understand.  They should not say: you can cancel.  What they should do is if you like, you can turn on credit card billing.  Have you ever experience credit card fraud?  It can be a pain to deal with.

It is completely standard practice for MMOs to ask for a credit card. If this was a scam don't you think they'd still exist? If they were stealing people's money and falsely billing them, don't you think there'd be news about it?

This is a lame excuse to not try out a game.

Are you sure this was a Guide? Cause I'm pretty sure they can't give things away unless it's part of an event.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game though. I've been playing for a long time and don't see myself leaving any time soon :D

To those that know that male and female gamers really aren't that differant, the article wasn't meant for you. There really are many gamers out there, both male and female, who think female gamers are very differant. That is who the article is for. The more gamers who stand up and say, yes we jsut wanna game, male and female, then it can get better. But it is also for any game exec/creater/programmer/etc who may read it. And some will cause many do read these sites.

Female gamers were talked to and asked what they liked and what they wanted out of gaming. Average run of the mill female gamers. No they aren't quoted in the article, but that is because the article is meant to be short and sweet. Yes I could go on for ages about female gamers, but this article wasn't meant to do that. It was meant ot be short and sweet. Sometimes there is alot to be said for simplicity.

There will always be exceptions to the rules. I myself don't fit neatly into the description of the article. The article is a general opinion of women I talked to. There are no hard and fast rules. But generalities can be made to some extent as long as people realise they aren't rules.

The point is simple, and seems to have been missed by many.

Women gamers want the same thing as men and aren't any differant.

That is the point really. Simple as that.

I've only been gaming for a while now, but I've noticed that female gamers are just the same as male gamers. They came, they saw, they played the game.

Exactly. My point exactly.

Actually, one of the very first tasks that a writer does is to research their topic vigorously. The topic, Female Gamers, Not A Myth begs for factual data to back up your statements. I also would have liked to have seen more of an unbiased voice. The article almost sounds defensive, yet says very little to provoke a meaningful discussion.

I'm in agreement with those before me who summed up this article as a facsimile of just another female post on any number of other forums out there.

An article that is very disappointing.

BTW, don't most writers spell check their posts? I think you meant EXPERIENCE -- not exerience.

Hard numbers are impossible. When it comes to what anyone wants from a game it's all based on opinions. There are no hard facts, only opinions. All I did was compile the opinions from women I talked to about the subject. I'm sorry there isn't hard data, but that's just how opinions work.

It may be a copy of what female gamers have been saying for ages on forums, but it bears saying again in a form that gets noticed. The steroetype isn't broken yet and that is the point. Yes it keeps getting said, but people jsut aren't listening. Otherwise there wouldn't be the horrible stereotype that women don't play games or they're only into girly things.

And excuse me for missing a typo.

Female gamers are not a myth, however, single female gamers are! :)

In WoW, my two best friends are female gamers. I met them in the game. However, just like any female I've met in WoW, they are married and basically got into the game because their husbands stopped paying attention to them. They started to play WoW to get closer to their husbands and they themselves found out how much they too love the game.

It is human nature for men to treat women differently. Just because we are human beings interacting with each other in a game world should not make any difference. Just like in real life, I would prefer hanging out with females rather than males. I have always gotten along with the opposite sex better. As a result, some people think that the females who hang out with me online are taking advantage of me because they are girls and I'm a guy and they can get whatever they want from me. The truth is, I help out everyone equally, male or female. I don't give things to or help out a female just because she's a female. Most of the time, they just happen to be a friend, who is also female, and so any help/assistance I give them always looks like "Oh he's just helping her because she's a girl."

That's another myth that dearly needs to be broken to shreds. I know many single female gamers. I met my husband via gaming.  I've been gaming since I was a kid and I'm 30 now and only been married 5 years. So yes there are single female gamers, lots of them.

In the MMO I play I do get treated differantly by some, I think, because I'm female. But to counter that I also get a hell of alot of respect from other gamers because I'm female and the leader of a rather successful guild. So the differant treatment can be varied depending on the person(s) involved. Also differant MMOs help to foster certain kind of responses depending on the overall game attitude. Not to say these games are bad, but differant games create/attract differant attitudes
