It's the same in the UK, which is where Codemasters is located. Wages are rarely ever mentioned in an ad. Usually you hav to contact the company or the agency doing the hiring. It has absolutely nothing to do with ethics and everything to do with standard procedure. So stop grasping at straws trying to mud sling.

And I think you'll find most IT and related jobs in the US also don't list the wage they are willing to pay. McDonalds likely doesn't actually list a wage either. They say min wage, which can be different from state to state.

Alot of people use the normal headphone jack type headsets. The USB ones still have problems with some games and programs.

I try not to comment on my own writing, but I would jsut like to point out that this article isn't a review. Nothing says it's a review. It is only a look at the update, not an indepth review of it.

How can you rate the community and service as a whole if you played on the EU servers? You should at least state that in your review.

I researched and spoke with players on the US servers also in order to get a good view of both communities to give a fair score overall.

First of all, I don't play LOTRO and I have no intention of doing so. I do find this review very strange for three reasons:-

1) The game only released yesterday. Is this a review after a day's play of the final release or the beta?

2) If you can get this review for LOTRO out so quickly, where is your review of Vanguard? If LOTRO was given the time frame it seems Vanguard is getting, LOTRO would have probably had 2 FREE CONTENT ADDITIONS by that time knowing Turbine.

3) I play and love DDO and this site  gave DDO's graphics a score of 9 which I agree with. How can LOTRO get an 8? They are at least on an equal par with DDO! I left EQ2 to go to DDO and one of the reasons was DDO's far superior graphics and art direction!

1)Please see my above comment regarding how long I've been playing.

2) I don't know. I haven't been asked to cover Vanguard.

3) I also have a DDO account. I agree, it's a good game and looks lovely. I try not to compare games when giving scores.

sorry but this review rating is BS, the game is bug free,  all servers running at release day no crashes, how come they come with a review after a few hours of playing?

I've been plaing for the last 10 days on the pre-release EU servers which have now become the retail servers. Plus I also did beta for many months and was familiar with many of the features already.

well you should play it again, since you don't even have the graphics high resolution CD, please get it instal and then rate the graphics again.

You played the beta not the release ;)
I have had the high res pack for the last month. And it is installed. My score of the graphics is a realistic one that doesn't jsut encompass if they're pretty at high resolution. It is a score based on an overall look at the graphics.

You are assuming I don't like the game. I do like it. I have a lifetime membership. But in my reviews I will not be unrealistic in my scoring. I am not a fanboy.

A: Untrue. Games are shipped from the UK if they are purchased from the UK. I bought my copy from Codemasters directy and husband bought his from Game.

B. Again untrue. If anything we are ahead of the US because our pre-release isn't beta. These are our live servers come Tuesday. Release is exactly the same time for around the world.

I like DDO. I know many don't like the instancing and group heavy quests, but if you've got a good guild it's a great game. I really do like DDo and all those changes are very interesting.

I completely agree. The simplicity is one of the things I've praised about this game too. It's really alot of fun when you just take it at face value. Sometimes you don't need complex.

As mentioned in one of the other invite threads, the invites are on hold. So currently those in beta can't refer anyone else.

I went through Silan with a fine tooth comb, from beginning to end (I'd only poked around with it prior). I hit it like any newbie would. I know how horrible the original starter lands were. I know what is good and bad in a starter area. Just because I actively play the game doesn't mean I can't discover an area like a new player since the area pretty much was new to me.

Please tell me, is there something wrong with the article.

This is absolutely true, but with a major problem: Those detailed popup windows full of instructions and explanations are gone forever once you close them.  You can't look them up again, you can't re-ask the question that triggered them, they're not in your chat backscroll, and there's no "Journal" as in other games where you can reread the details of what you've been taught along the way.  Nor is any of that neat new stuff echoed in the in-game Help system or the web-based Documentation tree.

This is just a basic example of the gap between the marvelous imaginations behind Ryzom and the nuts and bolts of software support that translate imagination into usability.  It's fixable.  They just need to do it.

Good point there. Being able to review things in a journal would be useful. The help info in game could do with some love for sure.

There were tutorial missions which did a good job of explaining how everything worked.

The main reason I didn't stay was the lag.

The Ruins of Silan has actually been for quit some time now (since June/July). So depending on how long ago that was, you may have done Silan and not the original starter area since before there were no tutorials and the starter missions were rather useless.

(not saying you don't know what you area you did, but alot of people don't realise the area is called The Ruins of Silan)

Have you actually played Ryzom?

A majority of my days are spent RPing and talking to my fellow player. We have worship, stories, culture. The difference in Ryzom is that it isn't spoon fed to you. Go read the site's lore. Then go play. If anything, Ryzom is the least combat heavy MMO I've ever played. No raids here.

Go play the Ruins of Silan area with a new char. The missions are the tutorial. If you actualy read the message windows that pop up then you'll get detailed instructions and explanation on how to do all of the skills and how to handle things like stanzas.

I said "Diablo-like clone" specifically because it gives people a point of reference for comparison as it is very like Diablo in it's game mechanics..

It is a Diablo-like clone. But then I consider that to be a good thing. I'm playing this and enjoying it immensely. It has no lofty ambitions. It's jsut a simple dungeon hack and slash. It doesn't take itself seriously and has a wonerful sense of humour througout the game. I really like it.
