looking for a programmer (expired, please delete)
Help Wanted « Developers Corner 8/30/07 4:26:07 PM
Is their a website I can go to for information on the game, or if you want to describe it to me that will be excellent. I am a storyline writer with fresh ideas. Although I may be helping out with a large project soon, I'm sure I could assist you. And if you have any chat program like IRC or any voice chat programs such as Ventrilo or Teamspeak, I would suggest you put channel information/IP addresses here. |

Yeah, the names are just something I thought would add a light touch to distinguish the bad from good |

Here is a storyline I had thought of while I was in school. Its a bit more detailed than my original plan. Hope you enjoy! Imagine two choices of "factions". The "Admireables" and the "Unpleasants". The "Admireables"... The Admireables side consists of the human race. The Admireables are a knowledgeable race with radiant ideas. They have an outstanding ability to create powerful technology from resources on their home planet, earth. One tiny type of species that most Admireables wanted nothing to do with has made some big problems, insects. Just about every Admireable hates insects. Just about everyone squishes them daily. Whether it be on their way to work, school, or just doing regular activities like mowing the lawn or raking the leaves. The Admireables had always thought that insects were very unintelligent when it came to comparing them with other species. They were so unpleased with them, the Admireables had given them a new name, the Unpleasants.
The "Unpleasants"... The Unpleasants had ruled earth for millions of years before the discovery of the human race. These creatures known as "insects" to many people. The majority of the insect population stays clear of the new race that has inhabited the earth. These insects aren't as dumb as you think they are. They build their own colonies, get their own food, are very strong and are hard working creatures. They have a much larger population than the human race, and are much more dangerous in packs. Some Admireables are starting to realize some of these things and are becoming more and more interested in them. But the deeper the Admireables look, the deeper trouble they will be in.
Everyones welcome to add onto this storyline. Be creative, perhaps go deeper into the storyline, change the names of the factions, add leaders, make wars, change the time if you want! Have fun writing!

Is this game kind of like populas? But online?
General Discussion « Wurm Online 8/05/07 6:19:17 PM
Ah, good ol' huge spiders. I keep a piece of all big creatures I kill in a little locked chest inside my shack. Ever spider, crocodile, bear, black bear, wild boar I help kill I butcher it and get myself a piece of their flesh, some say its crazy but its the memory of my time in Wurm that matters. I do a lot more combat now since the reset and its a game worth playing if you want something great out of it. |

Second Life: Gambling Banned in Second Life
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/30/07 10:14:12 AM
I started Second Life around 2004. Loved it since. I gambled in that game, yeah you know who doesn't? Whats it going to hurt if you can take linden dollars and transfer it into real life money? I honestly don't see the bad part of it. The federal agency is just sticking their noses where it doesn't belong. Second Life is a great game, I don't care what anyone says. |

Second Life: Gambling Banned in Second Life
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/27/07 7:59:34 AM
This whole thing pisses of me off.. its gambling in a game, whats so bad about it, the FBI keep snooping there nose where it doesnt belong, now the economy in SL is near crashing because casinos and gambling make up a large portion of the money spent in SL... |

I agree, this game is like Face of Mankind. An MMOFPS that is still popular, and fun. Lots of drama in the game because its ALL player controlled, economy, military, goverment, you name it. And you can die ANYWHERE, well that is execpt your homebase, you can still die from your own faction members though.

Western Idea for an MMORPG. I've been doing a lot of reading on western life and gun battles. I think it would be a good idea to make some kind of western MMORPG. It wouldn't hurt to try. Just sit down, look up some western stuff, gather your ideas. Use Realcrafter, or even a free 2D engine, there are so many out their, but I like Eclipse 2D Gaming Engine. I'm not sure if its still available, but that would be perfect for anyone interested in developing a western MMORPG. Try and get some good detailed pixel avatars, now i'm not saying learn C# or C++ to make it the best game ever, I mean just have some fun with it, gather ideas, look at photos, create like outlaw/lawmen/civilian races, goverment politics, etc.. and then if you like it, you can keep developing it. Perhaps even use a 3D engine and start really having fun with it. Just some ideas, thanks. Open for comments/suggestions/downgrades/ etc.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Stay (sic) |

†Digitil Entertainment Is Looking For Moderators†
Help Wanted « Developers Corner 6/01/07 3:04:05 PM
It seems like a worthy cause. I've been developing small little games and making modifications for many diverse games for almost four years now. Heck, now that I think about it, the times flown by. I went from moderating my friends chat rooms, to developing 2D games, to assisting my friend in making a small Mario type game, then making Battlefield 2 Modifications and Maps... ah, that was fun. I currently volunteer to assist the new residents of Second Life, and show them around, I even own a little non-profit group that takes field trips to places all around Second Life. Yeah, I'm interested.
P.S. I also helped my friend with scripting his games, I know basic Java, and Visual Basics. I've been playing and 'studying' MMORPGs for well over two years now. |

I used to develop simple but fun MMORPGs a few years ago. I have some good concept ideas for them. These I just thought of while I was watching The Omen, good movie. 1. 3D Graphics Designed Gane (Realcrafter, etc..) 2. You play the role of a demon from hell. You terrorize modern cities and remote towns with your demonic spells, hand-to-hand, or keyboard controlled combat moves. You can also include some projectile weapons, be creative with it. Look up some history. 3. A different guild system where you have a set of different levels with all kinds of different permissions. For example. Their can be one selected person to be an overlord in the WHOLE game. Then, a set of perhaps five princes from different guilds all around the game. Then a set of about twenty generals from different guilds from everywhere. Finally, the generals and princes select who becomes who, examples would be perhaps a vampire, a werewolf, a demon, etc.. And their are different camps run by each prince. The soldiers are put into groups to fight off the human kind. 4. 3 or less human races with politics, goverment, military, and some sort of economy. For example, they select a President. Senators, then leaders of each department, examples would be a political leader, and a miltary leader. They each hold meetings with each other to discuss how to defeat the demons. 5. Basicly, what i'm getting at is sort a more held together version of Face of Mankind, if we have any vets reading this. Open for suggestions, comments, take downs, upgrades (w/e). If you are using this as a blueprint/base for your game, I can help. :) |

Well, you have to give it some one, the fourms are the backbone of the game. Without the fourms, the game would collapse. Ask someone about what to do or where to go. I am a fom veteran. I was thinking of returning, because I missed my team in LED. But it is a totally diffrent game, I have NEVER seen a game like Face Of Mankind. This is a game where, If you want to have fun, you have to work with people you don't know, Its not like CS, or WoW where you have some friends to play with and you go into a party. Face Of Mankind doesn't have a skill system. They have 7 ranks, which, in every faction are diffrent, in LED they are Patrolman, Constable, Enforcer, and so on. In BoS, they are vandel, anarchy and so on. The combat system in this game is totally diffrent. I suggest you try the game for a couple days, and ask around, look on the fourms, and play.

No Free Trial? Why bother with FOM then? I won't.
General Discussion « Face of Mankind 8/22/06 2:01:24 PM
Guys, incase you haven't noticed, this may be the first game ever to be comeplely player controlled. The game is stressfull and you have people that are really annoying. Unlike you wow kiddies where you have npcs to hold your hand, fom has people that train you and show you the ways. And if someone kills someone, that can have a huge impact on war. Its not like in wow where everything is planned, fom is unexpected. You can be standing in manhattan market and next thing you know be killed. People like mercenaries can be real assholes at times, they will nade you, act all tought, and gang up on you with his other merc friends. Then you get really pissed because it wasent a fair fight. And fom takes skill, again, not like wow were you have 60 attack and 50 defend. Its all about mouse and keyboard movement. The game like I said before is very stressful, I myself have been really pissed off, mainly at mercenaries and raged and almost quit the game. And your not fighting npcs where you know how much damage and attack you do to them. And its not where you have a dragon sword +3 blessed, its you have a Linner PP7 assault rifle with either 7.62 full metal jackets, or titanium bullets. the Linner PP7 isent the only gun in the game, you have the Zanithd pistol, the Hallem Tar 7, the RGI-9, the techtronic 6x6 and some other guns. |

Game Isen't Bad, People are bad at playing it
General Discussion « Face of Mankind 6/28/06 8:57:58 PM
Im sick of these people that say things like "If you log in and can't get into some form of action within 2 minutes....the game is a failure." No.. no... buddy. See you have to actually join a faction, go threw training and actually be an offical part of the game first. I mean you can, but ur not going to succeed and going into brooklyn with ur newb pistol and shoot someone and expect to kill them with one hit, lol. It takes time, people are just like I WANT SOME ACTION NOW!!!, well thats no diffrent then saying IM SO FUCKEN IMPAITINET!!!, people, ask someone about training as I have stated many times. I am very pissed because these guys dont know how to play a game. Yes I know there are a few bugs in the game, but, cmon, the dev team doesnt have a magic wand, and they are a little slow bug people, this game is someting new. Players, such as GD players or high command (r6 or r7) control the game. They have earned the rank and are commanding over 100 players, real players, to do there jobs. And there are also like teams, for merc there cells, for vortex, eurocore and cmg i think there called corperations, for fdc im not sure, but for led there departments, like S.W.A.T. or I.A.D. or w/e. So guys, honestly, im sick and tired of you people making the game seem worthless when you cant even play the entire game, its like 25% of the people that play FoM just get in the game and want to shoot stuff, well, get to know the game first, and players. And they report things like oh this game sucks so bad, gameplay sucks, or the economy sucks. Well, Im not to sure about the economy, I was an L.E.D patrol officer. And it was the so fun just walking around and patroling something, and eventually, someone will pull a gun on you, and you shoot back and call for backup and when you know it, one or two guys get overrunned by like 5 or 6 well trained officers on duty. Guys.. I cant even say how fun it was.

Game Isen't Bad, People are bad at playing it
General Discussion « Face of Mankind 6/28/06 8:35:57 AM
"Generally, when someone sits down to play a game, they expect to have some fun. They expect to be introduced to a new world where the rules and laws of everyday life don’t apply. Basically, they expect to be entertained. After five hours of continuous playing, you know what I achieved? I was able to do some mining. Wait, that’s misleading. I was able to tell a terminal to do some mining for me. During five hours of game play, not a damn thing happened. There were no missions for me to run, there were no intuitive aspects of the game for new players to work with.
Other players run everything in the game. Missions are set up by other players, all purchasable items are made by other players, the economy is run by other players. What this means to starting gamers is that, unless there’s someone online to custom tailor a mission for that player, there’s very little for a first time gamer to do. With nothing to do comes a sense of boredom and the game turns into nothing other than a “running simulator” as players go from one place to another with no point or purpose."
-Tyron
Listen buddy, as I have stated before, and is very obvious, ASK PLAYERS FOR HELP!!!! Don't ruin the fucken game for the rest of us. Ask players for help, ONLY players in your faction. Look on their badge for the stripes or w/e they use. If they have one stripe or more, ask them about TRAINING. They will most likely tell you the trainers name. And also ask if they have a Ventrillo or Teamspeak, and if they do, ask them for the IP. So guys, don't make the game sound fucken retarted, and this has been going on for awhile. Tyron, I doubt that you tested out all thos games, because if you did, you would know to ask PLAYERS FOR HELP. |

Listen up guys, I have played face of mankind before it went p2p, and it was the best game, do you know why? I don't sit around and kill things, I get involved in the actual faction. L.E.D for example, I was a r3 led. And I loved it, patroling, going on raids, protecting citizens, going to meetings, drug busts, everything. You guys just need to get involved in the game, ask someone that has a rank 3 or above, look on there badge for three stripes, or w/e the faction uses. Ask them about training and joining the faction. They will probably tell you to go talk to (insert name here), or whoever is in charge of training. So guys, please don't make this game sound boring, I must admit, at a time I found it extremely boring, then I asked a guy how I can get involved, and then I went to training then after a day or so, got my rank. Trust me guys. Now there are some bugs in the game, when I was playing you could walk threw a plant on CD (Ceres Delta) by the mission terminal, and fall threw the map and die, and there was a way people got down their and got the loot. I don't know how they got back up. Now ganking, isen't as big as it was. Before, you coulden't step outside without being ganked, they actually had to have the FDC (Freedom Defence Corps) come down and help the L.E.D. out. Not exactly martial law. Just on major raids like B.O.S. (Brotherhood Of Shadows), or Merc (Mercenaries Of The Blood). The one thing that kept me going on that game was the constant murders, raids, drug busts, etc. And you mostly worked in a team over ventrillo or teamspeak (VOIP Programs). So have fun with the game guys, I hop this post helped some people change there mind about the game. Retired Enforcer Rileyman |
