Originally posted by Fearmeirl lol, you need to read up on what Trammel is and, here's a hint, how big it is compared to the small safe zones covering the NPC starter cities which will possibly protect you while you kill goblins and get virtually no loot as they are such a low level mob. |

Originally posted by DarthRaiden While it is a bit sad they won't be in at launch it is nice to know they are getting revamped. Besides no-one will be able to build any for some time anyway. I love the new stuff though like the contract system, that sounds awesome. |

You wont find this on darkfallonline.com
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/30/12 6:32:52 PM
Sure sure, all the criticism is getting stomped on by the mods. I'm sure anyone who goes to actually look will find nothing but good comments on the official forums. They are also being one sided and are not locking threads that go against said criticism like this one. |

Can anyone speak to the extent UW will be a "sandbox"?

Darkfall is not only PvP, it also has exploration, PvE, crafting, trade and so on. You can start playing the game and stay in the NPC cities and gather, craft, PvE and trade if that is your thing. Or you can join others and take, build up and hold a city or hamlet. You can also decide to wage war with others and take their holdings. The game doesn't tell you which route to take, that is up to the player. Darkfall is a sandbox game. However, it is completely fair to say that it could have more sandbox features. But it will also be fair to say that about any sandbox game that will come out for some considerable time because I can't foresee any game coming out any time soon that allows the user to do anything they want. |

How is completely changing the skill system into a role/school system a minor change? Would you say the same if WoW stopped using classes and started using a skill based system like the initial Darkfall? So you would rather all games tried to cater to all people because that would mean they sell more copies? We already have plenty of clones out there to satisfy you, the fact that Darkfall for one is not doing that should be applauded. |

Originally posted by Gdemami They have made fundamental changes to the way the game will play. On top of that the have changed the sound, lighting, graphics and even the world and models. Again, saying that DF:UW is the same old Darkfall is your opinion (and I have no issue with you holding it though I disagree), it is not a fact. |

Originally posted by Gdemami They have gone for a lot of new stuff, like the role/school system which got rid of what was not working, i.e. everyone having the same skill set with no diversity. They are adapting and are changing based on past experienced. If you don't like what they are doing then that is fine, however that is your opinion and it is one that AV clearly disagrees with. |

The new role/school system allows them to let people get PvP ready more quickly while still allowing longer term character development. This works because you only need to skill up 2 role schools out of the 16 availible initially as you can only use 2 at a time.

Originally posted by Gdemami They have the courage of their convictions. Which is why they actually made a full loot ffa pvp game with fps aiming when they could have accepted lots of money and turned it into another bland game that would appeal to more people. They learn, they listen, but they also have their opinion and are not afraid to go with it. Personally I think that is a good thing. |

Is this the "New Game Experience"
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/27/12 11:12:03 AM
Originally posted by salenger Leading up to the release of the original game they didn't post much in game content as they had the philosophy that it is good for people to find out about it as they play. They seem to be doing the same this time round so I don't think it is anything to worry about. If a delay was on the cards they wouldn't have explicitly stated a week or two ago that they were taking the servers down on the 15th to make more room for DF:UW. |

They are trying to remove the existing playerbase? Rubish. It is still a FFA PvP game with full loot, siege warfare and so on. The addition of the roles/schools mearly add diversity to the combat system, which is still fps aimed. Please explain how that is WoWification. |

So all the negative stuff, up to and including "F*** (not censored on the DF forum) YOU AV.", in this thread does not exist? I just re-read it and I'm pretty sure that if I can read it so can others. There are already a lot of threads about the update, it was not neccasary for you to create another one and it got locked.

The official forums are not being censored for negative posts. In fact the mods are way way over in the other direction and let all sorts of trolling and crap get posted which is why a lot of people avoid them.

[EU] DanesLaw: The Vikings of Darkfall!
Guild Recruitment « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/25/12 7:13:59 AM
A Man stands besides a lone Ash tree, one hand rests upon its gnarled and weathered skin. Mist surrounds both, isolation would appear apparent. The Man kneels upon one knee, a hidden necklace falls from beneath his armour. He picks up a clump of earth, breaking it within his thumb and forefingers. Watching it fall to the ground as if by mere touch he can assume its composition.
Size: 40+
DanesLaw is an independent EU, English speaking practical roleplay clan run by people who have played Darkfall successfully since beta/release over three and a half years ago. We are open to people who want to roleplay as well as those who don't. For example, we have a challenge system in place where those of lower military rank can challenge those above them to a fight and if they win they will gain their rank. This fits our theme and gives more immersion in the guilds lore but does not require people to speak in "thee"s and "thou"s.
Being Vikings you can expect plenty of action, sieges, raids and mercenary work. We are not a pure PvP clan though, we have plenty of members who enjoy PvE, crafting, trading and so on. We also hold regular clan events that range from monster slaying to tournaments. As mentioned above we also have a challenge system that allows members to advance in our military ranks by fighting those of higher rank and taking their title if they win. We are putting in a lot of effort writing up rich lore so those looking for a guild with something more to offer, or have an interest in Vikings or history, will be well catered for.
We are looking for mature people who enjoy team play and events, to join our community. You are not required to be an awesome PvPer as we are a well rounded clan and do not specialize solely on PvP. However, you are required to follow orders when you do join in with our raiding/siege/mercenary work as team play is very important to us. You must also be a Human and have a Viking name. We are also limiting recruitment to those aged 18 and above.

The "Is this game for me" thread
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/24/12 12:00:19 PM
There is plenty of interest in the game as the people who played at the start seem to all be coming back and we are getting a lot of new people as well as those who tried but didn't get past the initial bugs of launch. If you like the danger of a PvP game then you should definitely give Darkfall a serious try. If you like it you will probably love it. :D |

Suggestion open guild-recruitment forum
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/23/12 6:31:41 PM
The official forum "Darkfall Public Clan Forums" is for DF:UW guilds as it was only opened very recently. However having a forum here is good for those who wish to use this site instead of the official one. It is also something that MMORPG.com does as shown by their GW2 forums.

It would be nice to have a guild forum here, I PM'd a moderator about it a while ago. Maybe they are waiting for the number of guild posts to increase as it has done now.
