If anyone is interested in a read Snorri Hraerekson has written the tale of how he came to know Asta Kjartansdottir and eventually become her Skald.

Originally posted by Hancakes I'll leave it to others to make their mind up on whether "Darkfall: Unholy Wars will be available for PC, via digital download, on November 20, 2012." means people can buy it on the 20th or not. I see no point continuing this with you. |

Originally posted by Hancakes I hope you are not being serious... I come to that conclusion because they said it will be available on the 20th. I expect previous Darkfall owners to get DF:UW by digital download. |

Originally posted by psykobilly That could be for anything though. It could be for a few days of beta stress test, for early downloading of the client, for fluff perks given to old DF players or a host of other things. The only actual information we have from AV on whether people can buy the game on the 20th is that they can. |

I never said they could handle more then 10k online at the same time which is why they will use a queue. With regards to the launch they are not going to be using the same software/hardware combination that they did the first time so why shouldn't it be different? They have had years to test and improve their login system. They have the stats and hindsight about launch day and have also changed their shop system. With regards to why they don't have a better DF:UW site, that is probably because they suck at that kind of thing. With regards to the forum it is probably because they already have one and making a new one might mean some old forum members who they wish to get to play DF:UW miss the change. Or it could be because they suck at that kind of thing. *shrug*
You can't find a place to buy it now because they aren't selling it now. Taking that fact and changing it to mean you cannot buy it on the 20th is a strange and illogical thing to do. |

Originally posted by Hancakes They haven't increased above the 10k mark, if more try to log in they will be put in a queue. |

Originally posted by Hancakes That was their first release so they hadn't been able to stress test their system for the demand they experienced. They now have more funding and also have been able to test a lot of their software during the life of Darkfall. Sure there could be issues as there are for most big game releases but I don't see why there has to be. If you want to think it will be a disaster then fine, but that doesn't mean it will be. I think DF:UW will be a success. I think it will have less people at launch then there were at the original release but I think this time they will gain players as time goes on rather then lose them.

There is no information on when we will be able to buy or download the game. Stating that you will not be able to buy the game until days after release is silly unless you have some proof to post.

Originally posted by Hancakes At close range the larger crosshair you get when moving is still covered by a player character so that doesn't change much. At medium to long range it is not but you can time your movements so that you stop just before your ability has charged so you get full accuracy while only standing still for the minimum amount of time. I still don't get the R/P/S bit. There is the possibility that may be the case in 1v1, though we can't say for sure if it is or not due to the lack of information on all the roles/schools. However DF:UW is a group game and with the diversity they have added group combat will become more skill based due to having to work more as a team rather then everyone being able to do everything. I'm pretty confident that the best groups with the best players will win consistently in DF:UW. Only time will prove this right or wrong though. |

We are currently waiting for a picture of the Tovarr race as they may look like a more wild human. If this is the case we may well use those as our allowed race rather then Humans.

Ships and siege equipment - It's not that bad...
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/31/12 1:36:05 PM
Originally posted by Hancakes Then you should rejoice because it is way more then "fairly complete". They had a choice:
They chose option 3 which is, in my opinion, the right choice because by the time we can actually make the stuff they could have finished remaking them. It is nice to know they aren't taking an easy way out and just leaving it as it was in the origional even though they know that by doing so they open themselves up for abuse. They have also added a huge amount to the game, far far more then anything that is temporarily left out. I know trolling AV is fun for a lot of people but it is sad to see because the false information given by the trolls could put some new players off trying a unique and amazing game from one company that actually stuck to their vision and made a game that isn't yet another WoW clone. |

Originally posted by Hancakes [mod edit] DF:UW has added features like the contract system, roles/schools, new lighting system, multi-core support, territory control via villages, new portal system and so on. They have also redone the map, improved the layout of cities, made walls meaningful and tonnes more. An yet people like you still spew bile because a couple of things they are remaking aren't in at launch when we couldn't use them anyway. |

General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 10/31/12 10:06:22 AM
Originally posted by Gdemami I'm not sure which way you are meaning this so please excuse me if I am mistaken but I hope you are not implying that lot of players in DF:UW will actually stay in the starter cities and farm goblins because they are safe from attack? If so do you know how utterly pitiful the goblin loot is? No player will stay unless they have absolutely nowhere else to go. |

This is something that is easy to pick up and bitch about and unfortunately a lot of people would rather post an attack on AV then actually think about it for a second. If they did think they would come to the conclusion that it may not make any difference and it is also nice that they are changing these things for the better. There is the possibility it will be bad if they don't implement it by the time we will actually use them. However this is only a possibility so we should not assume it will be true or false. |
