Will say I thought the trailer was pretty amazing when I first saw it and I still do, but that's all we have to go off of.  No lore, no class info, no empty promises of what they hope to be.  I want to be hyped for this game, but until it hits Beta I'm not so sure I can.
The way I see it Founder Packs are like Collector's Editions with the exception that the buyer doesn't get any real life merchandise.  Also if you do it right you can generally get more value out of the Founder Pack on some games.
Either this guy is a really bad troll or he has a very skewed idea of what Free to Play is.  I also think they need to take some more English classes.  Maybe learn the difference between to and too...

The first link is the SEA version and the second is the NA/International version.

Out of the following list of items I've seen put up in cash shops, which of the following do you think are most and least acceptable in a free to play MMO?

  • Content packs/Expansion Packs - Ok
  • Races - Ok
  • Classes - Ok
  • Global chat tokens - Not Ok
  • Experience potions - Ok only if it affects the amount gained rather than giving you free XP
  • Revival items - Not Ok
  • Ability to use higher-tier weapons/armor/spells - Not Ok
  • Lock box keys - Ok (probably because it's just something I got used to...)
  • Mounts - Ok
  • Cosmetic pets - Ok
  • Cosmetic equipment - Ok
  • In-game currency - Not Ok
  • Enchantment items / Ability to enchant equipment - Not Ok
  • Name/gender/appearance changes - Ok
  • Server changes - Ok
  • Instant level-ups (never seen this before, but it surprises me that I haven't) - See Below
  • Character slots - Ok
  • In-game housing/Other non-combat elements - See Below
Again, which of these would you consider most and least acceptable in a free to play MMO?  For the sake of some semblance of consistency, let's assume the cost of each of the above isn't a relevant factor (i.e. "Instant level is okay if it's expensive"); we're just evaluating rather or not the ability to buy the above cash-shop items (and conversely the ability to be locked out of those things by not buying) make or break the game for you.  Also let's assume you can't earn cash shop money through any sort of in-game means.

Well I put most of my opinions up there in red with the exception of Instant level-ups and housing.

Instant level-ups - Most of the game content involves leveling up.  If you went from lvl 1 to max level uisng one of these it'd be very difficult to gear up since you'd have no money.  Not to mention "End Game" content tends to be lacking in most MMOs so devs would only really be shooting themselves in the foot if they added this.  And what about when the level cap increases?

Housing - If there's housing in the game I think everyone should have access to it else potential players might be turned away from the game.  Instead I think unique furnature would be ok.

I don't see why having ads IN the game that fit -- like on billboards or posters on the side of a building -- wouldn't work for some games.  Obviously they probably wouldn't work very well for fantasy type games, but post apocalyptic, futuristic, or racing games I think they could and devs wouldn't have to come up with fake ads to fill in those spots.  It's win/win.

I can't get enough of this game  Currently using Ash with Gram as my "primary" weapon.  My Gram is to the point I can 1-2 shot just about any mob either with quick or charged attacks =D

However those Toxic infected are a bit of a problem for me since the two ranged weapons I'm focused on leveling right now are either too slow or too weak...

If I bought FFXIV Will I have to rebuy FXIV:ARR?  Will I lose my pre-order items from FFXIV?  Is there an FAQ somewhere that I over looked with all these questions already answered?

entitlement .. lol
that word is really being used entirely too loosely in the MMO environment.

the idea of entitlement is used to describe drug addicts who are getting free drugs and medical care at the tax payers expense.

we are paying for a game and would PREFER that items available in game are available to everyone through in game progress.

we aren't talking about welfare epics where everyone is "entitled" (still not a very good use of the word) to top end gear even if they choose not to take part in a particular part of the game.

we are willing to work for it in game, I at least would be ecstatic if it were extremely rare and hard to get. I just think it's lame that I have to go to a convention that I would otherwise have little interest in going to if I want access to something.

I wouldn't even care if they were available at conventions or whatever as long as they were at least very difficultly attainable through ingame progress. which is why I ultimately bought GW2 anyway .. because at least there I can farm ludicrous amounts of gold and trade them for cash shop items.

en·ti·tle·ment

noun \-?t?-t?l-m?nt\

Definition of ENTITLEMENT

1a : the state or condition of being entitled : right
b : a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
2: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group; also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program
3: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges

Explain to me again how it's being misused.  At least everytime I see it used it falls under the above highlighted definition from Merriam-Webster.

It makes me mad that I wasn't able to goto said convention and get said item, but the fact that they have it and I don't because they went and I didn't doesn't bother me.  A tad off topic, but what does bother me is when I pre-order something or get the collector's edition of something for a unique item and then the company starts selling said item in their cash shop or sells a special upgrade to upgrade your standard edition account to a collector's edition account (granted this upgrade doesn't bother me as much since most physical collector's edition come with physical collector items which the upgrade doesn't grant).

I mean if you want pre-order and/or collector's edition items then pre-order it.  Don't give me this crap "Oh I can't afford it" I can't typically afford to drop $150 down straight on a CE so instead I pre-order it as soon as I can and pay a little at a time up until release which is how I've gotten all the CE games I have now.

Don't worry they only plawy WoW.  Or at least that's what  many of the posters around here would have you believe.  Or consoles.  WoW and consoles, yup that's the ticket.

Seems a lot are playing TERA now if global chat is any indication...

Man, played this like 10 years ago - can't believe with all the money they must have made they didnt' go with a sequel.

Looks old and dated now though.

Wow, perhaps you should do some research.

Fail.

The sequal has been around for a while floating on private servers and the like. It was in beta in Korea for about 4 years, then the entire game was scrapped and remade. Now it is out officially in korea, and coming soon to other places.

I've known about RO2 for a long time, it's been vaporware for the last 5 years running and STILL looks crap, hence why I said I wonder why they never did a sequel. Surprised to see it even finally came out in Korea, maybe we'll see it in 5 more years.

So yeah, maybe you should think before making a moron of yourself, Evilastro. I'm sure you'll have to google the term vaporware given your natural ignorance.

Fail.

Vaporware - a computer-related product that has been widely advertised but has not and may never become available.

Funny I was playing RO2 just last week.  Sure it was on the SEA servers, but it's still available.  Not to mention Gravity has said there are plans to release an official US server as well.  As for the grapihcs, it kinda looks like they took the 2D sprites and made them 3D so it's the really cutsy, Anime styled 3D graphics.  Not impressive when compaired to most of today's games, but not terrible.

I haven't read all the replies so I don't know if anyone touched on what I'm about to say or not.  It's simply because D3 was marketed as a Single Player or Multiplayer game and no one saw the point in having to login -- and deal with login issues -- to play Single Player.  PoE on the other hand markets itself as a MMO -- though some would disagree due to all the instancing like Guild Wars -- and thus no one has an issue with logging in to play since that's typically what you do to play a MMO.

I passed on this game long ago... I see no point playing "ARPG" with poor visuals and PoA graphics is 15 years behind.

Lol.. Do you even know what graphics looked like 15 years ago?

They were something like this right?

or -- since someone mentioned it -- something like this?

You should at the very least upgrade your RAM and Hard Drive neither of which are that expensive.  As it is I don't think there are many games that will meet all your requirments.
While I can't really say much on the customization of TERA, it's going F2P in February and has pretty good PvP imo has PVP/PK servers and non PVP/PK servers.  Not sure what you mean by PvP dungeons, but TERA has dungeons that can only be completed with a party.  Can't really say the graphics are realistic, but they're similar to PWI.  It's fantasy based.  Currently the only things in the cash shop are cosmetic items and the usual gender change, race change, reset stuff.  Haven't played TERA in a while so I don't know what the community is currently like, but come February I'm sure it'll grow.  It's about as much as a grind as you would expect from a Korean MMO, but it's fun.

You do know that Razer didn't decide on the specs of this tablet by themselves right?  Not completely anyways.  They provided choices to their FB fans and their FB fans chose what the fans wanted and Razer built these tablets around those choices.  Granted  I agree the 64Gb SSD in the base model is a bit... small...

*edit*

Just looked at the website and I'll admit when I first saw the project I figured the controlers would come with the Tablet.  Well initially I think they intended for the controlers to be fixed, but a lot of fans requested detatcable controlers.  Guess Razer decided to cash in on that request...

As a gadget fan the Tegra news is exciting, I love my tablets and smartphones. The rest is fairly meh, the handheld is dead in the water. The Vita shows noone really wants a high performance handheld and devs and publishers dont seem all that bothered about releasing games for it. I dont exactly regret getting one but at the current pace of game releases for it that time might not be to far away. I wont be falling for buying another non Nintendo handheld again.

Vita is a closed platform, and is expensive. While we don't know for sure if Shield will be any cheaper, it's definitely running on a more open ecosystem. You got your all your android games available, and you get to stream from the PC. Vita only has the PSN.

The 3DS also struggled before the price cut.

To go along with this -- if I remember correctly -- the original PSP wasn't doing so well either and everyone figured it would end up tanking.  Just saying I'm not giving up hope on my Vita.  Though if the third party support doesn't  pick-up by the end of this year...

DCUO is the closest thing you will find to a Hack and Slash console type game. Tera and the like are just standard hotbar combat in disguise.

So you're telling me that DCUO doesn't use Hotbars?  Guess you don't really play that either since every screen shot I've seen that has the UI displayed there's a hotbar down at the bottom of the screen.  So how's DCUO's combat any different from the "standard hotbar combat" that you claim TERA and the like are?

Have you even fully played TERA?  There's nothing standard about its combat.  To be really effective you have to be able to combo your standard combo attack into your skills which then have very spicific other skills they'll combo into to maximize your damage if you're using the right Glyphs.
