Originally posted by Shibley911 I think you're right about this point, but I dunno how much better MMO's are really getting. A lot of these new games offer nothing other than grindage and quests with a bit of pvp, maybe. People cry at how successful WoW is only because it doesn't fit their ideal MMO experience, that it caters to a wider range of video game players rather than the snobby elitists (mind you who still occupy this game). Tabula Rasa and Vanguard are prime examples, hyped up like mad but when you got down to the core of these games there was little there (mind you Vanguard has picked up in the past months). I think companies need to work harder to earn people's money nowadays, especially when most will NOT play more than 1 MMO at a time due to the financial constraints that can rack up over time. I think most are ready to move on from WoW and are looking for the next big thing, which hopefully warhammer or AoC will be able to provide, invention + innovation = good mmo |

I was wondering how safe it is since you basically enter it right IN the game ? And when you enter it, does it just subscribe 1 month recurrently or do you need to re-enter it each month ? |

Has making MMORPGs become just a job for Devs, or are there still some who have a passion?

absolutely and I'm not saying there is no hope for MMO's in the future, just the most recent ones seem to be carbon copies of each other with a few things changed, we shall see how warhammer online, conan, tabula rasa, etc lead mmo's into the future... |

Did the MMO community in general help kill AA?
The Drive-In (General) « Auto Assault 7/16/07 1:22:57 AM
tried the game for 2 weeks, couldnt get into it, interesting concept at first but then turned out to be quite boring as not much changed I progressed in levels, good to see this one go so NCsoft can focus on other projects |

nah you're right, I see so many MMO's coming out now and 99% of them play just like the last one, I mean Ive played SWG (pre combat, NGE changes and post), guild wars, EQ 2, AO, LotRO and currently playing WoW. It just seems these new ones are just being pumped out due to WoW's success which is exactly the opposite reason why games should be developed. In the end the good game will shine and we'll get to play them but we'll have to dig through a whole bunch of crap ones to get to them. |

Trying to find a replacement for WoW
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/27/07 3:29:11 PM
no do NOT get LoTRO, no pvp, no raids, 1 faction, until they put more into it its a pve game. The worst thing about WoW is that battlegrounds get so ridiculously unbalanced that its just not fun. When the games are good then you get a satisfying pvp experience, I have not been able to find this in any other game. Most other ones will have you leveling as others said for a year before you even touch decent pvp this includes EVE, Lineage 2, EQ 2 (kinda).... guild wars is the closest thing I found but even that I didn't really enjoy either. I'm waiting for age of conan and hopefully that has some decent world pvp in it. |

LOTRO highest rank on mmorpg.com
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 4/27/07 3:21:01 PM
you guys have to admit this game doesn't deserve to be ranked #1, its just fanboys who have been voting over and over. After 1 week theres no way to judge this game as #1 expecially since it only has 1 faction and no pvp.... |

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/23/07 7:20:41 PM
I think the review was fair, one major beef I had with the expansion is NO NEW MID LEVEL CONTENT !!! I think this is so key...1-20 may be new but 20-60 is still the same game, they shouldve added at least a new area for every 10 levels. "Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG in the industry and has made the jump into pop-culture. The total score is a seven if you are looking at it as a model of total package compared to what other games are doing." I think there's a bit of a discrepancy between what other games say their going to do and what is actually happening...case and point Vanguard, at the very least Blizzard has always delivered what it has promised in its updates and that should be commended. Having said that I agree with all the other points made...community is a joke, no roleplay even on roleplay servers (I don't do it). I still think its a crime that you have to wait till 40 to get a mount... |

Wow, that is one hell of a guild site for a game that isn't even out yet Aelf. Are you guys a RP kind of guild ? Just wondering because of the effort displayed on the site would make it seem as if you guys are RP oriented. (Sorry for thread jacking a bit here)
