Playing a Ranger myself in release...had played a gladiator and ranger in CB/OB and enjoyed both, but hearing all the good feedback for rangers post level 19 made me want to stick it out. I'm up to level 15 now and enjoying him, although he is difficult to solo all the time due to his general squishy-ness. Going to look into this weapon enhancing thing when I get home tonight. Thanks for the tip. -G |

Yeah, D&L should've been #1 though...HUGELY disappointing MMO. |

That's some good advice by Theocritus. Stick with no more than two classes. Me, I've gone Hunter with my main, and Warden with my alt. I'm still learning the finer points of tanking with the Warden. As far as some advice, LOTRO is chock full of great solo content. I've solo'ed my Warden up to 26 without doing any fellowship quests. For a newbie, I would suggest rolling your character and doing the beginner instance and go from there. It's a lot of fun! See you in Eriador! -G |

Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/23/09 11:31:20 AM
Great review...although to be clear, Hunters are able to equip up to two legendary items and a class slot item, usually a book or tome of some kind which reduces the power cost of skills or helps mitigate damage to an enemy. The class slot items for Hunters are not currently "legendary" items. -G |

You know, I guess I could definitely be wrong...I remember back in Beta, I thought the community designated Elendilmir as the RP server. If it's Landroval now, I might need to roll a toon there. :) |

In so far as an "official" RP server, no...there isn't one. I think you can find roleplay factions on many of the servers, but the unofficial RP server is the one I'm on, Elendilmir. There are several RP kinships on there, including the one I belong to, the Gray Council of Arnor. Hope this helps. -G |

My two main characters are a hunter and a captain...I'd go hunter for more PvMP, like the previous posters have said, it gives you the ranged DPS no other class can match. The Champion is more in the thick of things melee style. I also love the intangibles of hunters (the quick travel abilities mostly). -G |

Yep! Turbine is added in two additional character slots (bumping the number from 5 to 7) to allow you to give both the Warden and Rune-keeper a try if you wish. I'm excited about this Warden class...it's got some of the characteristics of the Hunter that I like, plus the melee DPS of a Champion. I like it. -G |

Lord of the Rings Online: Legendary Items Screens

Actually, the items you have now aren't the legendary items. I think you have to locate a base legendary weapon (I assume in Moria or an area of the new expansion) and then locate the items with which to upgrade them (I think some of these can be found on vendors, others are found in the world as loot drops). Once the item is bonded to you, then it levels up with you. I think you're able to alter it as well (like change up how legendary it is) throughout the course of the weapon's life. |

Lord of the Rings Online: Correspondent - A Look at Housing
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/28/08 11:08:06 AM
I think there are plans to allow kinship houses to place forges and work areas inside (or outside) the kinship houses. I'm not sure if it would be the "superior" work areas that are located in a few spots in the game, but they would at least allow you the opportunity to craft from somewhere other than a town. Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming! -G |

General: Turbine Licenses Havok for New MMO

This paves the way for Turbine to put any of their games on the console platforms. I like this move and I am very excited to see what it does to increase LOTRO's player-base. -G |

You know what...you're right. There are seven character classes. :) I must've been thinking of something else when I typed that! I also forget about the Burglar class a lot because I don't see a ton of them running around where I play. Other than that mistype, thanks for the positive feedback guys! -Matt McLean |

Coming back...but it seems the game has changed...
Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 5/02/08 9:51:20 AM
Hey guys - So interested in seeing how the game has changed over the years, I decided to download the UO:KR client and reactivate my nearly 10 year old UO account. I've played it off and on for the last 4-5 years but was really active for about 6 years. I have a warrior-type player (100+ swords and 100+ tactics) and a GM smith character. Anyway, I found my way to a place with a bunch of vendors and it seems as if the game has changed somewhat. I can't find one vendor selling armor that's not spiked leather or barbed leather...what happened to all the people making valorite armor, or gold, or dull copper or whatever...? Is it because that armor brings down your stats a bit? Are there no more true GM swordsmen in UO anymore? Is it all about mages and casting and PvP? Help an old UO vet out here with some info. Thanks, |

One thing I'm worried about is LOTRO, so the previous poster helped ease my fears on that.
I have a new machine and have both XP and Vista setup discs...I'm debating what to install... -G |
