Wow they finally adding something "new" other then just more of the same FP, Operations, and lame level bumps.

This game desperately needs more side level additions. Housing would be a welcome addition.

The hopeful side of me hopes it turns out great.

The realistic side of me expects this to be just like our starships, only its on a planet, and the customizations will belittle to non-existent as we have on starships now.

Lets just say i'll be utterly SHOCKED if they get anywhere near the customization of housing like Everquest 2 or Rift.

This might be the NGE patch for Warthunder......very, very negative feedback from it. Mainly the new tier system and matchmaking are the big reasons is hated.

Yup that pretty much sums up my feeling of GW2. Its a fast food mmo, absolutely no legs for a long term game. I hate the non-trinity system they put in, absolutely hate it in every sense. There is nothing for someone who actually wants to advance their character to play. Just buy your 80 gear off market the second you 80 and your done.

Never once by killing any mob, any named boss, any dungeon, any dragon has dropped anything of any significant excitement to look at.

Its like you said, its a game built to just "play" but you get absolutely nothing in return for your investment....a complete waste of time in the video game sense of terms. But some like it.....

I would actually rather play SWTOR then this, and I don't like SWTOR.

 

Problems at launch that drove many of us away:

1. Hero engine was used - complete and utter pathetic choice on their part. FPS for many were abysmal, the game couldn't handle more then hand full of players without chugging. We didn't even have high resolution textures! Wow! - CURRENT PROBLEM

2. PvP was abysmal - Huge imbalance between republic and empire side. Illum was a collosal failure. Open PvP was a massive disappointed, with 0% incentives to be involved in it - CURRENT PROBLEM

3. UI was uncustomazible and extremely limited - You couldn't move anything or tweak anything, it was such an embarassement to release AAA mmo in this state -

4. Guild structure a complete joke - It was just a chat channel - that's it. There was nothing that drove you to be in guild. No rewards, or guild xp or anything to strive for.....it didn't even have guild banks!

5. Gameworld was static and lifeless - Soon as most of us went to corasant - we started to realize just how dead and lifeless the game is - and it never changed. Nothing changes in the world. All npc are static and dead, and all come in there usually 3 group setup, so generic, all environment is static and never changing. And there is no openness to it, its all very linear and small....result is very boring and unsatisfying. - CURRENT PROBLEM

6. Space combat - The most lazy, mindless feature they could of attached to the game. This reeked last minute, hey lets throw space combat in really quick before launch. It was fun the first few times, after that....booooooooring. Its star fox - on rails, and that's it....very sad. - CURRENT PROBLEM

7. Nothing to do at endgame other then couple raids and repeat flashpoints - Wheres all the minigames? Where the gathering of materials or harvesting or fishing that even though some don't care for, others do, because not everyone wants to only fight all the time. - CURRENT PROBLEM

8. Single player story low replay value - After you finished your first main character, your honestly spent on it. You might try one more just to see the opposite faction but beyond that, no replay. Because its all the same all the time, you don't change anything or affect anything. CURRENT PROBLEM

9. No housing or any customizing on your spaceship - What we got was one generic ship per class, and that's it, no tweaking, changing, customizing, nothing, cant even invite others to it, not that it matters because no incentive to do so. - CURRENT PROBLEM

10. Realization your whole end-game will be sitting at the republic or empire fleet station - Really? With so many worlds, so many iconic areas in the world of Star Wars, and they built and designed the game so that you have to be at these pathetic stations to access and do anything in the end-game. So insanely sad. - CURRENT PROBLEM

11. Both empire and republic stations are EXACTLY the same. Really? They could not put an ounce of effort and made them different in anything but the color. How pathetic that is coming from a AAA game and a huge budget. - CURRENT PROBLEM

12. Servers - At launch were slammed, so they added 10x more then they needed, so the following months as the game was dieing because it deserved too, many, many servers were dieing. The result was you had 100 servers, and 90 of them were dead.

13. No server transfers - On top of the server problems, they also had no server transfers, so if you was on a dead server which most likey you were, you was stuck, and most just quit.

14. Loading screens to long and to many - Speaks for itself - CURRENT PROBLEM

15. Chat Bubbles - Is this important for everyone? No. Will it make or break a game? No. The reason I put this in here is, not only was it not at launch, but pretty much every other MMO has it as a standard feature, but they said its coming soon at launch. To this day, this small feature, that they overblow how "complex" lol it is to implement to put, just shows how, sad this company is, and just why this game is not that good. Little reasons like this tell you, these guys are just not that good and making a MMO game. - CURRENT PROBLEM

16. Character customization - Huge disappointment - Very limited to what you can do to your character. On top of that, very limited race choices, and all are generic humanoids with different faces pasted on. Again, as with many other areas, it just reeked lazy, unskilled designing. - CURRENT PROBLEM

17. To much emphasis on companions - It sounds good on paper, but in-game, it showed its weakness. First of all, it shows just how pathetic your main character is, without your companion - I mean, im a beast Jedi Knight, but, my little droid is the true hero, because without him, im hopeless in combat. It just put to much emphasis on the need of your 2nd rate companions. What about a Sith Lord, I mean cmon, you really need a little turd following you around to always save you? Sad. On top of that, they automated pretty much everything for you with these companions which leads to next problem.... - CURRENT PROBLEM

18. Crafting is preschool - Its the laziest, lamest, boring crafting system ever. Because of your companions, there just isn't anything deep in it, its all plain, simple. - CURRENT PROBLEM

19. Visuals of gear - Oh my gosh! In the beginning, the looks of gear in this game is so, so unbearable bad - When we got a peak at some of the armor pieces from many of the classes in the game, especially coming from end-game, we was stunned. In a bad way. So poorly made, so cheesy. Basically all your effort in end-game gear, resulted in probably the worse looking gear you could ever wear for your character. You can wear what you now I believe and add raid stats from raid gear, but at launch and after, it was bad...

20. Lots of bugs - Most noticeable was the ones at end-game on raids. Wow they were so unpolished. It is not good to have your end-game riddled with bugs. This hurted a lot, and saw it first hand

21. Let Bioware make an MMO - Sorry, but this company should not have went in the MMO area, and this game 100% clearly showed just how unprepared, and unknowledgeable they were on how to create a proper MMO - instead we got a broken, unfinished, striped single player game with some multiplayer features added. - CURRENT PROBLEM

22. EA was behind it - The undisputed leader in MMO destruction - Look at their MMO history, no really, go to google and search, and find me one MMO they actually did good in. They almost got a handful of MMOs they have already shutdown....yeah. - CURRENT PROBLEM

 

Ill keep this list going, but for now that's good.....

 

ANYWAYS that is just some of the crap many of us saw and dealt with and how and why many, many of us left. And the reason we have not come back. Because its basically in the same damn state, with F2P added to it, which is also the worse in the MMO industry.

So enjoy your game, its the only Star Wars MMO unfortunately.

 

 

I have received a beta key and im currently playing Wildstar :) Also received 2 extra keys friends which I gave to 2 real life buddies who are also playing beta with me :)

Well those are definitely nice ideas, and would be a welcome addition to star wars. You see the world of star wars is to damn big to limit it to a pure wow linear carry your hand wanna be mmo that SWTOR is. It needs to flex its legs and it needs a lot more sandbox elements to it.

 

I only played SWG for a few months and I had some friends who played it a lot more. Was it a perfect game? Heck no, but it definitely had some elements that would far superior to SWTOR. Are there elements of SWTOR that are better then SWG? Of course.

 

What we have is one MMO went to far left and then the other went to far right. And both were and are run by complete retards who don't know how to properly handle an MMO.

I wont list all the things I would do now, but I will say id burrow ideas from both and refine it and add some extra stuff.

I was away 3 years but i have never stopped training lol. So now that i came back i have a nice 177 million sp character to play with. And im really enjoying it, i can see lots of changes, even visually. And lots of smaller but neat little changes that are a nice touch. Basically i just go in with the attitude, ok this is what i want to do in here, and i do it.

if i go with no purpose like most mmos because its spoon fed, then you wont last.

 Even though this game doesnt cater to most people, i do have to say as a true MMO, it demolishes all others, its a true open world do what you want, run by the players game.....but its just doesnt cater to all. But it will probably outast every mmo in existence even if you dont play it

Personally, I enjoyed few months after launch, after that, I realized just how pitiful Bioware/EA are in producing an MMO.

If there is one fact we can take from this is this: Wether you like this game or not, it will go down in MMO history of HOW TO NOT MAKE AN MMO. Plain and simple - and what does that tell us, is that SWTOR is just not a really good mmo, but its the only Star Wars MMO so hence, there will be people playing it.

Will it recover? 100% no - impossible - ONLY if a completely new team takes over, which wont happen...so yeah, SWTOR already had its high days at launch, its all downhill from there, enjoy it while it lasts if you like this game.

And one more thing - If all the dreams of a better Star Wars MMO are itching in our minds, you realize its only chance of that happening is for SWTOR to just die and shutdown. Wether anyone else will take a chance to make a star wars mmo we dont know. Yes, it may suck to some, but it closing down would not be the worse thing in the world, lets admit - and it most likely wont be missed all that much in the grand scheme of things.

Player will demand everything for free, doesn't mean they have to give it.

Chat bubbles - not wanted by many players and not at all a top priority issue for the game. - Entirely YOUR opinion, it has been requested since BETA - a SIMPLE feature called chat bubbles, that is standard in MMOs - still not in game

Open worlds - A planet once loaded is entirely open. Nothing more can be done not because of the Hero engine but because it's not possible in a game like this - You might want to research what open world means

Crafting - perfectly fine, one of the best after FFXIV - One of the best? Wow...if you like a dumb downed, fully automated grade school crafting, I guess.

Open world PvP - already exists on higher level planets - Which is abysmal and offers no incentives or risks or rewards for participating it in

100+ people will definitely cause lag and then we will have people again calling for their heads because of that. - Blame that on horrible engine.

 

That is an expansion? Wow. Talking about taking a word and crapping on it. Expansions were always about expanding the game in many different areas of the game.

This just one area, thats catered to just one type of gameplay.

Too bad i wasnt in charge of this game, id bring it back from its never ending useless updates that never cator to the core reasons why the masses left.

Continue to enjoy this failed excuse of an mmo.

Well as much as it sucks that most of us cant play, the ones that do, are having a good experience in game because of restrictions. Better to have some play, then none at all. At least they explained in detail whats going on, though trying to get ready when early start begins, is little to late and risky, it spoils over to launch as it does now.

 

In the end, they will give us some free time and should be resolved in a few days. Not the end of the world.

 

At least the game is good :)

So basically the 3 cities and the surrounding east, west, north, and south are the bulk of the map. And each side of the city areas are identical in look. Thats kinda sad.

And there is no swimming or any underwater content.

 

So great game outside of that, but id say it lacks pretty hard in the world content department

Yes, anything that can be sat on, you simple go next to it and hit emote called sit or type /sit and he or she sits down :) If there is nothing to sit on, they simple sit on floor with legs crossed. You can even lie down in bed, when you get your home in the future :) Take that SWTOR!

The way zones are like Wow or EQ2. The loot, definitely looks like Wow or EQ2 type, as in theres the regular gear, the quest gear, the crafted gear, and the regular dungeon gear and also the rare raid gear.

 

I know what you mean with GW2. It was so boring. I felt you got no rewards for anything. All that dropped was complete junk in anything you did. At no point did I feel or get excited about looting in GW2 because it was so unrewarding. Complete waste of time in my opinion.

 

FFXIV is complete opposite. If you driven by gear, this will suite your needs. Your not going to buy the end gear stats off the market like GW2...you need to earn it.

As far as early access goes, i can confidently say, its one of the worse in mmo history. Sorry, great game, but my god, what an awful, horrible, early access it has been.

Well im not one to say, this is normal for mmos in the beginning. Uh no, im not complacent to accept this as normal. After all these years, it should have gotten devs/engineers to have better planning by now. So....

 

As of now, as far as server performance goes, i give it an F

Because the game is actually good, im willing to put up with it, but it doesnt hide that fact, that they are dealing with an abysmal head start in terms of servers. Well see if they can get it somewhat sorted by launch day.

WoW killer?...NO.....Does it matter? No

Why do we need an MMO to be a WoW killer? Just be happy its a solid, good game, that you want to play. Lets be happy for all us who are sick of the "new" type of MMOs that destroy trinity and dumbdown so much, that we got ourselves an old-school, but fresh and refined MMO....in a awesome setting...Final Fantasy.

Listen, i was all gung-ho for SWTOR, who, yes, has old school style play. But sadly, it was a collosal failture at end-game, content updates, and basic must have features that MMOs have....and currently they still dont have most of them.

I played GW2 - and I just could not get over how awful the combat system was. I'm sorry, but if there is no trinity system in an mmo, no thanks. I don't know why they thought it was fail - why, cause your healer doesn't show up? Cry a river, not the mechanics fault, find a damn reliable person to play a healer then.

I quit GW2 on one reason - combat. It was numbing boring, dungeons were abysmal boring - all just zergfest - that's its. OMG it was horrible.

I don't care what other features they throw in EQNEXT - if it truly goes down the horrible GW2 combat system - you can count me out of it, 100%

P.S. - You can still have action combat like GW2 - but the trinity system must stay in place

 

BE SMART SOE AND KEEP TRINITY!
