I'm still having fun with DDO (started in the beta) and it's improving steadily with each months addition but of course that's IMO. Pray tell, is there any game worth your time mr wordsmith? Or do you just travel the wide ranging roads through all the game forums bringing your vast knowledge of online gaming? DDO is not the best game or the worst game (and I'm played most of them starting with UO) but it's kept me interested longer than any other game I've played in the last couple years. |

Some of the huge DDO Fanboys are leaving now
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 8/05/06 10:54:26 AM
If you wait long enough we all get tired of a game and move on (Though some stick with games like UO since their inception and still play daily ..stupid brother!). Not sure why a player leaving a game they once loved is that much of a surprise as most of us have done it at one time or another. For me personally, I really didn't like the game in the beta, but I've been steadily building a great love for the game over time once I got past my anti-social habits of the past. The game is far from perfect and at times Turbine's handling of the game reminds me of Verant reborn. I don't care for TF (or the dragon) much but new modules bring other changes to the game that I do like. But content, while nice, isn't why I play games. Grouping with friends and adventuring with players I don't know is what keeps me looking forward to the next quest. I don't farm things to avoid boredom that will surely come and I know eventually I will tire of DDO like all the other dozens of mmog's I've played over the last 10 years but for right now I think it's headed in the right direction and I'm having fun. That's all I need. After reading through the forums on this site I get the idea that everyone hates everything and anyone that dares to enjoy something. Well go ahead and attack me. I'm an easy target and I'm too busy to remember to come back here and check these forums more than every other month. Good luck finding something you like to play. |

It's cool to trash games and very uncool to like them alot. Hopefully all of us find a game we like in the future (I doubt that it ever happens for some of you) and you can bet it will be the same negativity on the forums. After the fun years of UO, EQ ,AC, AO and DAoC I played nothing new that interested me and I left those games quickly. I didn't spend my time on forums bashing them though and I kept trying games till I found one I like. I can see that if you are bored by a game then you move on but to spew the hatred like I hear is kind of rediculous. There are lots of us that do like the game although I don't come up for air often as I'd rather be playing than argueing. Don't like a game then don't play it. But if you haven't tried it don't follow what any of us says and try it for yourself. Otherwise you become a clone waiting to be told what to play. Good luck and Good bye. I'm done with these hate spewing forums. |

WoW the best MMORPG out right now.

Hands down Dungeons and Dragons Online. Been mmoging for 10 years and I'm hooked. Can't wait for the next module.

That solo mode is only available in the harbor area and not for all quests. No blinking needed. They are just helping new folks to get going. But why listen to me since I love the game (started in beta and it took me awhile before I got past my previously learned mmog habits and got into the tame)? And while it's gotten off to a slow start and will not appeal to the masses I am confident it's going to become something special after the next two modules (one in july and another in august). And just for reference I quit the following games either in their beta's or after 3 to 6 weeks: EQ2, COH, GW,WoW,EVE. I hate to group EvE in with the rest but it's kind of like DDO and will appeal to a niche crowd.

I don't know what the OP is talking about since I use a subpar dell system with on board video and have virtually no lag at all since I upped my ram to 1gig. The game is beautiful even on lower detail settings and while there are bugs I rarely see them. I've been mmoging for 10 years and have played most mmog's as well and this is the first game I wasn't tired of in 3 weeks. Been involved in it since the beta and still love the game and to this day have only one level 10 and he's not even at the max rank yet. I've been too busy playing all five characters and have no interest in doing only the highest xp quests (like many do who seem to have the need to hurry). vga graphics? give me a break. |

Heres a good example of the DDO "community"
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 6/29/06 8:27:17 PM
After 10 years of mmog's and their forums I find that DDO's forums are tame compared to most with very few posts being made by those busy playing it. In fact there is a growing contingent of near professional trolls who move from game to game just to cause a ruckus and spew negativity. ( as the OP's name suggests). DDO itself is not following the usual clonish path of previous games and is mostly a unique experience. It won't appeal to masses because it follows a different path (like EVE) but over time it will slowly grow and develop a following by folks who really love the game. Call them whatever cliche you can think of but I think that's a good thing. And if you care about something you will defend it if it is worth defending. Try it for yourself and see. Jeddak former beta tester and current subscriber since day 1 who still loves the game. Something that I haven't been able to say for years of lackluster game debuts. (wow and eq2 the last two I dumped after the beta in one and 1 month in the other). |
