Basing your decision on what to play on opinions posted on a forum is usually a very bad idea. And why do you need someone to tell you what you want to hear anyway. Negativity rules on all game forums (except some based on games yet to be released). Try the game for yourself and find out. SWG is changing and that is annoying folks. Many want to see it fail now. But what you have to ask yourself is: do you want a star wars online game to play in the future or not? If you do then support it, warts and all. The alternative is no star wars game at all. So make all the noise you need to so the game can improve but don't make it your life's ambition to drive it down by chasing away any potential new customers. Let the sales make the decision, not mob justice. |

It's not just the swg community. This has become the norm for all games. Even games that are doing well have loyal minions of folks who love to spew negative nonsense at the game companies. In many ways it has become a 'net" game in itself and I think it represents a growing negative attitude in a high percentage of players who fail to realize that gaming is for entertainment and not life fullfillment. So it becomes more difficult with each passing game to find something that interests them and this frustrates these types of people. The best thing to do is to let it go and don't feed their need for attention. And ignore forums as much as you can. |

I've been playing or a few days now and I mostly like it. Tried it a few months ago and was totally turned off by the system (and I've been mmog'ing since UO) and even though I had over 30 friends running a player town the game just seemed to be one of the most poorly designed things I had ever seen (and I lived through the early days of Anarchy Online). I'm sure this changeover was a real kick in the teeth to the vets but I imagine the powers that be needed income and long term prospects over pleasing a small dedicated bunch of players. The game had no Star Wars feel to it. Cantina's were macroing havens and vets (when you saw one) tended to pass you by like so much chaff under their toes. And then came nge and it was a bold move but it is most certainly a mish mash of styles but at least it has a chance to appeal to more than than it once did. I just hope they keep it up and continue to refine their idea. You can assume they just wanted the kiddie crowd frow wow (a thing that doesn't really exist but sounds good when you insult the game..all my old friends are in wow save me). And the entire enterprise may come crashing down one day as may most games going today (ala earth and beyond..a game I cursed but miss now that it's gone). Only time will tell. But whatever they did, they got my vote; at least for now. And I'm about 2 generations away from being a kid. And nothng being produced today has much to offer anyone unless you like pretty graphics, quick success or an high end game you can can power your way to. At least Star Wars has the world itself and if they can keep going it might actually become the real game it was meant to be. |

Been having fun with it so far. (more fun than I had in 4 months of swg earlier on..and more fun in the 3 days I gave eq2 recently to see if it had improved). It feels like Star Wars now and although I can't comment on what the future will bring (none if you lot have your way) but I will try and be as honest pro or con when I feel I have enough time invested in it. |

I wasn't playing when the game ended but I do miss the game at times. Especially, miss my characters standing around on the character select screen acting bored. Silly I know. |

You just described most mmog's a few weeks after they go live (no..not bugs..in a mmog?) so your prediction is a pretty safe bet. And even the most popular games forums look like a war zone most of the time. And I imagine you will be in with the mob screaming the loudest (helping make your prediction come true). My prediction is that one day you will be eagerly waiting for a game and will be insulting someone for doing what you are doing now. |

Left after 4 months. At the time soloing wasn't so good and that's all I do.
Pro's: pretty game Cons: Zoning.Leveling.No weather on the green side of the world. Felt rigid (like wow..not playing it either) and programmed (hunt here at this level..move on to the next leveling area). All the community seemed interested in was leveling as fast as possible. The few groups I bothered with are always filled with young mouthy pushy people who seemed more like task masters than group mates. While I was tired of EQ after 3 years it had a feel of immense size and eq was just another leveling game but reduced in size and scope. And when I found out that the great ocean sequence at the beginning of the game was not used later on when changing continents it was quite a let down. I can't even say it was a eq clone but more a WoW wanna be. And that game drove me nuts in it's own way.

I know the list of dates showing upcoming release dats is subject to change but how about another list next to it showing games that have passed their date and no longer show so you can keep them in mind? |

Like there has ever been or will ever be a bug free game..hehe. But they will release it when it's playable enough to start earning money to pay the bills. I can't wait. :) |

Nice to hear a positive thread about an online game. While I am happy playing what I am this info is being set aside for another day. |

Eve is a good game but I can't say the community is great. For the most part you get lost in the vastness of it unless you happen to get lucky and get in a good corporation. And this constant bashing of Warcraft is juvenile in itself. Most mmog's these days are filled with immaturity and WoW (and EvE) are no different. Even the help channel in EvE is filled with so much inane high schoolish nonsense it can be hard to get an answer because you get lost in the shuffle. |

After 9 years of mmog's one thing I have yet to see is a version of the game that allows you to experience the game in an offline version (and I doubt I there will ever be such a thing) but I wonder if it has ever happened. I know Diablo could be played this way (although it isn't a mmog) but I always enjoyed the fact that you could use your character and play it offline and I feel that this way of playing has a undeveloped but useful niche in gaming left to be filled. So when the day comes that your favorite game shuts down (ala earth and beyond or AC2) you can still experience a form of the game using a copy of your main character instead of just forever losing all that time spent playing a game (and a useless box on your shelf). |

I don't care about graphics (they cease to be interesting after a couple days of playing any game) but I do care about gameplay and so far I like what I am hearing about Roma Victor. In this eq clone gaming world it's nice to see someone attempting to break the mold and I plan to play this when it goes live. I'm not a tester and would rather experience a game cold without knowning to much so I am happy to wait and see how and when this game unfolds (and avoiding all the pre release hype and hysteria). |

You know I was already to give it a 2nd try a couple months ago but no matter what I did I couldn't get the account activated through their messy web interface. Too bad too. I miss my dragon sometimes and the community was great during those massive cooperative efforts opening mines and such. Too bad the rest of the game wasn't so good. |

Appearence customization is fairly weak (the face, hair style, hair color and height can be changed with your profession giving you most of your appearence) and there is a definate lack of variety in game when it comes to appearences (heck you don't even have your helmet on or a weapon in your hand in town). But if all you care about are appearences then you are doomed to disappointment anyway. But maybe that's why so many spend hours doing the pointless repetitive dancing in town in an effort to get noticed.
As far as soloing. So far I have solo'd to level 12 using hencemen (npc fighters) and haven't had any real problems but I expect that to change. From what I hear though the real fun to be found in GW is by grouping with real people and doing pvp. But I haven't felt the need to try it yet. |

Play what interests you. Who cares what a bunch of strangers, who represent the tiniest percentage of those playing the games you mentioned, think? |
