Everyone is the same class

Uses the same weapons

Uses the same build

Now everyone that has whined about imbalance because they cannot compete should be satisfied and unarguably find out that they just plain suck thanks to this setup :3

Just hope you aren't caught with an empty endurance bar and no stun breaker or it's pretty much game over.

I agree though, the game is generally heavily unbalanced in pvp across the board.

I pvp with 5 different classes (6 soon) and i have no problem winning on neither , hell i take down guardians on my necro build. If there was such a huge inbalance between classes i would have noticed. Yes Warriors need to be tken down a notch and the current HS nerf doesnt quite cut it but those are quit minor inbalabces so far.

accros the board so near to launch it is very well balanced so far.

Every player in sPVP has acces to all L80 skills and every class has acces to as many stuns as they do stun breakers. What each and every individual player does not get free access to is actuall player skill, i think that is your problem right there :3

I think that it really needs to be stressed how bad sPvP is now. Which I think is easily some of the worst in an mmo.

You frequently end up in 3v1 and 2v1 matchups. It really is terrible. I try playing and run into one of the examples I just listed and quickly I've had enough and logout.

I really don't know how anyone can dispute just how bad it is in it's current state.

Rift and SWTOR, both recent releases are light years ahead of it.

I agree. I often go into empty maps or with 1x1 or 2x1....Ridiculous.

I don't really see how this is a problem...but maybe it's because I have experience playing multiplayer FPS games.  You just look at the server selector...and join one that as 14/16 or 15/16 players.  Easy right?

NO, is not easy cause NEVER there are 14, 15 or 16 players fighting. No matter which server or map you click, you will always go to another, with less players.

Never had that happen to me...not sure what to say.  Maybe it was a bug?

the 1v1 or 3v2 ,3v2 only occurs when you hit "play now" as it sometimes tries to fill a empty server. The game constantly tries to add new players but the real problem is because of all the QQ'rs that cry out loud because they have been 3v2 for a whole 20 seconds and then leave constantly.

They also do this when it is 2v2 because in small groups like that they start losing bigtime simply because this setup shows how good or how bad one in the most obvious way. The losing players are always the ones that i see leaving these matches.  I often use the "play now" button to get 2v2 or 4v4 matches specifically.

If someone is having trouble getting proper matches even when selecting a specific server you need to make a custom link to the .exe  and name and do proper  port forwarding, look it up on the support forum stickies or FAQ.

sPvP is a joke.

Now, before you pop on here and say "but my (insert support class here) owns in pvp"

good for you, statistics say otherwise.   I have seen very well played engineers (1) that did well, however, that is a rarity.

the typcial make up for sPvP is: Theif x 3, Warrior x2 mesmer 1/2 elementalist 1, ranger 1, necro 1 (give or take).  This is ridiculous.   Support classes are next to useless.

With that you just pointed how silly your claim is.

You just said it yourself, There are players that do manage it on those classes and If a player is not good enough on any of those classes then they dont score. ..yeah duh

I have seen players domintate matches on those 'support' classes, conclusion :

It is not the class that is the issue its the bad players that cant handle them.

I can see why so many roll a warrior or a heartseeker build thief since i tried them out after seeing how many players own so much on them.

Warrior:  literally faceroll, really you can just press a bunch of skills and win. (note: Some players do know how to play the warrior very well withouth facerolling)

Thief heartseeker build: 2-2-2-2 teleport/heal>stealh  Win....thats it

The warrior is the most ridiculously easy one tho. I made one to level 3 and did not know a thing about it or its skills and took it into spvp without practising on the dummies or the NPC's. I did this on purpose because i already had the suspicion that it was pure faceroll and i was dominating in my first ever match with it and ended up with the top player bonuses even though i still hadn't had a clue about the skills.

These facerollers think they are 'teh awesomez' until i come at them with my puny necro ...they lol.....and then i wipe the floor with them and run of to the next one. Sounds arrogant i know but i always stay away from these sort of classes in pvp and go for the more difficult to master ones. Done that for years in every mmo and practise does make perfect. The fact that i steamroll these type of players gives me the most satisfaction in PvP :3

Last night a warrior in my opossing team even dared to say in chat that Necro's are OP because i kept wiping the floor with him, (i guess he was a bit surprised by it ) Along with a string of other insults and to boot he even 'boosted' how he made that warrior only 2 hours ago and how he was owning everyone else already and so there fore Necro's must be OP.

I get a lot of hate from them in /M during matches and i love to stir it up :)

Again Bad players not bad classes. The fact that there are players that do handle the hard to master classes shows exactly that and i have seen all these so called 'support' classes dominate. Mesmers engineers and elementalists alike. As long as the player controls his/her class.

(imo faceroll classes are in there on purpose  for bawd players  to make sure everyone wants to play)

Turn off map chat, then. /Thread

But seriously. If you don't like it you can turn it off.

That's the whole problem. If I turn it off, the game turns into "no chat" game. Players aren't really players, they feel more like "very intelligent AI".

So in your OP you mention how the zones feel like chat lobbies and here you say you dont want to turn it of because it becomes a no chat game.

Complaining about not enough interaction is what i have seen in e-v-e-r-y-s-i-n-g-l-e mmo i have played. I myself have never had such issue and it is so simple. If you dont initiate interaction you will experience less interaction.

I can walk into a bar in a town i have never been to and within 30 minutes it will look like i have been comming there my whole life. Now not everyone does this but common in  anon enviroment like a mmo with text chat, how hard can it be to make conversation? i do it all the time and more often then not end up chatting with 1 person or groups of people for 30 minutes or hours. Sometimes when im tired i sit back and have fun in the main channel for like a hour.

Do that and you will start to know people and vice versa , make jokes break the ice ,group up with strangers and INTERACT. people who write stuff like in your op usually just stand there in the game or run with the group and say nothing until spoken to and answer with yes no or lol.

You expect others to interact with you! while you should try to interact with them. The ones that dont respond to it can be forgotten (this could be you) and you will run into more and more people who do respond.

I got a shit to of ppl on my skype and TS/vet adresses and real life firends n phone numbers because of it even but you dont een need to go that far if you dont want to. Its up to you and certaintly not the games fault if others can do it.

I watched the videos on YouTube.  I read the reviews in magazines.  I read many forum threads.  I got excited about the game.  I went to GuildWars and clicked the Buy Now button.  I was ready to buy a copy for me and my girlfriend and we were gonna give this new adventure a try.

Digital version...SOLD OUT.   Digital Deluxe version...SOLD OUT.  The $150 Collector Edition...the only option.

Really?  Do you honestly think people in the 21st century believe you can sell out of a digital copy?  Your efforts did not net you $300 for two new players, it didn't even net you $120 as I was expecting to shell out.  It netted you $0 because of your greed.

Some might say, their servers are too full.  How long does it take to throw up another server?  Another dozen servers if needed.  If you don't have enough servers to meet the game demand.  Add servers.  Don't just create some artificial scarcity by which people have to buy a $150 version.

There are copies in stores, but I won't be buying it.  Not after the bad taste this shady strategy has left with me.  It could be an awesome game.  But I won't give it another look.  You had an opportunity to make a sale, and you refused it with your fail attempt to funnel people into an overpriced version of your game.  Fire your marketing people.  You guys are missing out on who knows how many thousand sales.

This post does not add up.

They did not stop retail versions and the CE is not a digital version unless you want to believe that physical items can be downloaded and of course the fact that the most expensive 'supahduhluxe' versions will always be the last ones still availlable when the game is sold out otherwise.

Also you dont just add a couple of servers, this is not your bedroom webhosting notebook and there are other reasons to not to want a X amount of servers since if you make to many you will have to start server mergers soon after and it will be all over the media and then you will be crying here that 'the game is dyingz'.

And GW2 had more then TWICE the amount of players loggin in on the official launch day then WoW did for instance. It had nothing to do with greed , it was exactly like they said for quality concerns.

They held back sales how is that greed? lol

In any buiseness you know you never want to run out of stock of a popular product because ppl will simply walk over to the other side of the street and buy something similar on that same day or nothing at all and let it pass. If anything they are aware that it loses sales.

You being a prime example of this.

Play in the tournaments to become player of the week

Then player of the month

and then shoot for player of the year

And for each of them get you name engraved in the big tombstone on te island of the mist.

If that is not enough for you next to playing for fun then there a zillion mmo's that let you bot 'n grind through threadmills.

I just bought the game today, and after waiting for ages for it to install, it is now %20 through downloading updates, this is 900mb, so I guess the completed update will be around 5gb. Or in other words, around 6 hours to install the game before being able to play.

1. No bug fixes and added content (which wil be comming) , no  updates

2. Bug fixes and added content , updates

First mmo ?

It is not even limited to mmo's these days. The day i bought BF3 and installed it i had a 5gb patch, thats right 5gb and then it still had to unpack and install.

The sign of a fanboy if i ever saw one. I played TWS for almost 2 months , now i play and enjoy GW2 as i prefer GW2 but this...this comment ....

Every cutscene/dialouge scene in TWS is perfectly mo-capped. You cannot even say "but it is his taste"  really you cant. God i hate fangirls.

I know what you feeling, I experienced the same until I turn on Vsync, sure I drop from 85 fps to 70-75 but the tradeoff was smooth gameplay, no stuttering no tearing no flucutation fps.

btw just wondering, what gfx card do you have, nvidia or radeon?

If you have nvidia dont use 304.42, they are bugged as hell, use beta drivers like 304.79 or 306.02.

I was using the .79 drivers on a 560ti.

turning on v-sync increased the delay but not by much.v-sync always introduces a delay but only starts to become noticable at under and near 30 fps. Im using the 306.02 beta drivers right now and my performance is a lot better now and the delay basically gone. With the new betas im getting anywhere between 60 and 120fps and it usually feels like it so that is good. I use V-sync in pve but still disable it for PvP but that has nothing to do with gw2, i always do that as it is by definition always more responsive. I am enjoying the game a lot more now after this driver update.  It is a nice driver to upgrade to if you have a 560ti but if anyone has a 6x card i'd say check it out but you might run into problems.

I noticed that most positive reports come from 560ti owners and most issues with this beta seem to be with 6x owners. It is easy to revert back to your previous driver but it is always worth a try if you have a 6x.

There is no "Holy trinitiy" it is as simple as that. We can all safely say that that is gone and done. At best you can have a pretend trinity but the agro system and aoe heals just do not support it. Nothing stops anyone from making a makeshift trinity though. But some people seem to wish for 'no trinity'.

There is one fantastic example in the history of online gaming that demonstrates this very well and set standards with it. It is called "Quake 3 - Deathmatch"

A mmo withouth any Synergy between players would basically just boil down to Q3 deathmatch with either other players (PvP) or against bots (PvE) but this time around with a few thousand players on the map. Grouping or guild building would just be silly ,useless and have no point or function purely as a chat lobby but ultimately there would be no need for socialization. But any form of co-operation would already constitute as synergy or trinity if you will - There is no trinity withouth synergy and synergy makes possible the ..dreaded.....trinity so that would be a big no no as we are trying to eradicate it - , apperantly.

You know what i think, with GW2 we get the best of both worlds, We get our cake AND we get to eat it..

I havent tried them yet but i will later today, Post your results it will be helpfull to people.

nice.  Getting other people to test this for you.

Yes because i totaly do not dare to risk a driver rollback for myself .....  Get real >.>

Anyway ,

I did a clean install of this driver

I see some mixed results but usually hear about a fps boost for most people. I on my 560ti had a very nice fps boost actually , without Vsync i get anything between 50 and 120fps. This driver coupled with my newly tweaked settings for both with V-synch (PvE) and withouth (PvP) makes for A LOT more of a responsive and fluid game. Coincidentally i ran into that huge boss in the swamp (human area) again after having installed the drivers. With my fist encounter with this boss stil;l fresh on my mind it made for a good stresstest on these drivers and i can say that the difference was big ! The entire fight went really smooth compared to the fight on the previous driver "304.76".

Really the game now almost runs as smooth on my rig as Aion does ,which is quite a bit lighter to run ,im impressed!  ...with both this new driver and the game itself btw

This is what i thought at first bu then i read those comments "Bugged quests everywhere"  or  "graphics worst then lotro"  i have all 5 races and played them all and havent ran into a single bugged quest except for 1. No'r have i heard peoople complain about it on any scale. And the worst gfx then lotro that is just obvious trolling and there are 60 comments like it on there all of a sudden. Most are not true bar for the grouping/overflow bug of course.

But metacritic atracts this sort of thing by nature , it really hurt funcom with tws too.
