My guild has no reason to play together. ( somewhat un-sociable game )

i have seen a couple of people complaining that they need a reason to talk or group with friends. I seriously doubt that there is such a big population of people that think they need to be rewarded for playing with their friends or in this case 'friends'. more like special cases imo.
Seriously , if your friends only want to hang out with you or you only want to hang out with your friends just to benefit of of them or you feel the need to be taken at gunpoint to spent time with them then you do not really have any friends to begin with , how social is that !?
The issue is moot. |

Could be just me here but pffff.....
i remember when i ran a legion 1,5 years ago , also 100 man with a stable core. We used to sit on TS with each other and hardly play even at times , we never needed the game to give us a reason. Build a proper guild ! lol |

Pressing 1 to oneshot a player in PvP with you uber gear earned by PvE'ing makes you a better player? I think if your oponent manages to survive for longer then 30 second that he has more to show for then you tbh. |

for one i myself dont have problems with combos(but then again i followed this game and details for quite some time) but i do see that they go unused by most players in the game outside of the obvious accidental use. I keep telling people about it everyday i play mostly in spvp , their response ususally is "owh thats cool" but thats it i do not even see them to try and use it so the "thats cool" basically translates to a "whatever, gimmick" There is simply no emphasis made on it in the game. << the point
Im also getting a bit tired telling people about it and trying to convince people to use it who are on my team. I could care less wether they use it or not in PvE. This is not a fps game where you get a gun and simply start using it for obvious reasons. People are not used to seeing it in MMORPG's and so far most only seem to regard it has a proc. |

Originally posted by bunnyhopper Again the problem is not that they are hard to understand. If you go out assuming that people are not able to understand this system you are simply being arrogant. The problem is that the significance of them or the fact that they are even there is not being made known outside of a wiki.
As Blitz already poited out people usually do not go to a wiki to use as a game manual. Anet has posted about how important they are in dungeons and seeing as how many are having issues in those i really dont get why they do not make the feature more prominent to new players or older players who did not see the importance in them for that matter. |

It is a simple system but one that is explained and conveyed badly. People see it ingame ,check out the tooltips and try it out for a bit most will only come as far as knowing that you can uses others their combo field and vice versa but since it is so vaguely described and not explained or pushed ingame i think what is happening now is that most people automaticaly just write it of as a gimmick. Not surprisingly.
Sure it is in a wiki but common now. |

This could be true and would be inline with the exploration stance the game takes but if you hover over the skills that note about combo fields it is still very very vague. (combo fields btw are not only used in partnership with other players) On my ele for instance in the tooltips it either says combo field on one skills ,ok clear enough but on all my other skills that can potentially compliment my combofield skill it only says "blast" yet the one i use most gives me a shield bubble.
I guess you can still argue that it comes down to exploring and finding out but on other combo'snothing happens when i try them out and i suspect that those combofields are not meant to be executed by just yourself but only in partnership with another player. There does not seem to be any consistency there which leads to people not using them and end up running into trouble in dungeons for instance.
I think Anet should post up some vids signifying the importance of these combo fields at least. |

Originally posted by Geeves Indeed a smooth launch does not have to mean a ' perfect launch'. Never in the history of MMO's has 1 been released in perfect condition. I think people are taking things out of context and stop being realistic to themselves like the dude on the first page with his "but..but..they said when its ready..." well it was ready ,it just was not perfect. :3
The worst thing that happened that during pre-release there were about 6 hours of login issues. Things like balancing issues have been mostly adressed during the beta's but to be realistic there simply has to be a cut off point were it is said "fine this is more then good enough to launch with" and to be honest the game came out with very well balanced PvP as it is. Yet there are people out here saying that this particular part of the game is so badly balanced that it is a joke (ridiculous statement of course), comments like these alone are the sole reason that there never will be a MMO or any other MMplayer game released in perfect condition or 'ready'.
MMO's can never be ready as long as there are people like this around. |

Hardcore?
Raiding with a lot of people is just that, a lot of people and a lot of people that are being carried by a few tanks and healers. i really do not see how this is considered hardcore. The only thing i would consider hardcore is being able to lose what you have worked/played for.
Eve-online is what i call hardcore because even spacecarebears are not safe on their 'safe' space and everyone runs the risk of losing what they are currently sitting on, and everyone does at some point. No themepark PvE game has ever struk me as hardcore bar the few that have open world pvp its the only thing i can think of. The rest is just tag along gameplay. |

You want you money back and next to that you dont want to lose the acount and want arenanet to hold on to your acount for you until you decide to give it back to arenanet and re-open your most likely well played acount for you and continue where you left off. The fact that you ar so afraid of losing the acount tells me that you invested considerable time into the acount too.
I would love to see you buy a car ,come back weeks later after having been on your roadtrip and tell the dealer you need your money back because as it turns out you forgot about something and oh , if he can hold on to the car for you for whenever you decide to still buy it. ok....

On the contrary even since the first time they came out with info abuot he game they pointed out that they wanted to show consequence through the DE's but at the same time they pointed out how it would be impossible to retain permant effects of DE's, which is totally logical of course.
People who now claim and believe that A-net promised permanent effects caused by DE's have down-syndrome. |

[POLL] Teleporting or Mounts / Flight Paths
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/21/12 7:22:48 AM
I have disliked mounts ever since i started playing MMO's that had them. They are mostly for the e-penor crowd and you see them constantly parked in a spot where everybody can see them sitting on it as if to say " look at me being cool on my cool mount" a mount everyone sees 50 times a day btw but since they just got it... but hey no biggy i guess.
Next to that i always feel like i am in some sort of happy disney movie with my super special rare (suposedly) creature friend stting on those stupd things lol.Riding mounts is boring and having to mount and dismount all the time is anoying.
Yet there is practically speaking no way to avoid them since everyone uses them and making each group or guildie or w/w wait for 15 minutes everytime just because i dont want to use them is ridiculous.
I was very happy not having mounts in TWS my toon just earned srpint upgrades which btw were just as effective if not more eeffective since i did not need to mount and unmount anything or hotkey 20 diferent mounts for 20 different occasions. The whole mount idea is so old and stale and useless imo and t me really feels as if i am playing with "my little pony's". against ym will.
Good riddance :)

Testing ina closed controlled enviroment is never the same and will never yield the same results or show certain issues that a live run does. The AH is a very complex part of any mmo and i also do not remember 1 MMO that had a flawless AH up and running from day one.
Look at the more recent release of TWS which got its AH the second month in. It was a total non functioning mess but it was up as promised and cause even more frustration and anger because people where actually losing items and money because of this failing system. Better to concede and take it down. The fact that they tried and actually had it up and running on day 1 was surprising to me tbh even though i already heard that they planned on it. I was equally unsurprised when they had to take it down.
They tried Concluded that it was in everyones best interest to take it down
Considering the reasoning i see no reason to kick and scream like a good self entitlted customer. |

Followed by :
.You going back to te very first zone .Start doing your skillpoints
And of course for that $500 you missed the entire game itself and turned it into a very expensive crafting grind that netted you less result then if you had actually played , experienced and possibly *gosh enjoyed playing the game.
You talk the talk ,now learn to walk. |

i dont think vanguard was as well received to begin with. But yet it took 5 years before vanguard went F2P. Not a great example to prove your point. |

Game testers hardly ever get paid outside of some expenses and are just gamers like anyone else that apllied to be selected to be a game tester. It boggles me that a few here believe that there is a proffesional on call game team or something for every game :) Its basically a volunteers job that in some cases lands another job.

No really, see the point is that there will never be perfect balance and as long as there is none there will be massive QQ becasue someone just got his ass handed to him while playing on his ranger against a guardian for instance.
Sometimes the best way to fight is to avoid it . In others people just dont know how to counter or to avoid followed by a forum visit "wtf this is IMBAlanced!!!!".
Witouth imbalance it will not even be fun to start with.
I Pvp with 5 classes and still end up top player most of the time on my necro a class with just about the lowest dps out there. There is no massive imbalance. |
