Most likeley zero.

A MMO developer (owned by NCsoft no less) that gives people their money back just because they claim PvP is unbalanced ???

Or reason number 2 , the game is not friendly towards smaller groups ???  (not sure what that i based on tbh)

And this is why A-net/NCsoft gave him his money back in admittance?

I really doubt this story.

Even so i dont think i would even bother making a special thread about it if i went back to wow already. I would have mentioned it in relevant thread maybe but i doubt i would have felt a legitimate reason to get special attention for it.

WoW's pvp is not balanced nor will it ever be anywahere near balance at any given time. The reaons is PVP tiered gear ,the ones with the better gear win ,end of story. Unless you have the best gear availlable and manage to claim that the game is balanced because you win every fight you will never agree that gear based pvp is balanced. No matter how good you are a Lada will never win a race from a Ferrari.

People wanted A.Net to have their own forums and complained that they didn't. NOW that they have their own forum, people are complaining. It is their forum, their rules - period. If they are harsh on everyone equally, then it is not a problem - it is how they are running their forums.

I have been a forum mod and it is tough and thankless job.

As far as i have been able to tell they are being as strict with everyone so far. They do not delete topics just becasue they do not like them , in fact they let them run but duplicates especially on the more vocal (shouty) topics are being closed down and merged ,logical, cant blame them really.

The more I learn about the game the more entertaining it is. It has more content than I initially thought when I started playing. I'd say a very solid game if it wasn't for bugged DE's and skillpoints that should have been fixed by now.

True , the game does have a lot of content for a mmo that just released.

.... there are a few things that irritate -people with names like 'Ilikecheese' and 'Eatstoomuchsugar'.

There should be basic rules on naming and immersion.

But otherwise it's all good bar the bugs.

I never quite understood this. No offense btw but how can we expect to have thousands of other players cater to our immersion? also once perception of immersion differs a lot of anothers. Then you have the ones that do apreciate imersion but do not let it depend on other players names. Some are trully funny but i suppose they would break that immersion , Agreed some names are annoying to type if you have too but other then that why would you care ?

Unless there is a specific RP server with the set rules I prefer to let the game itself provide the imersion and not be bothered how others name their toons, but thats just me of course. Having said that i do think RP'ers deserve a server they can call their own actually i mean why not.

Its because people can put things on the AH from anywhere in the world. Its a convience feature that saturates the market with vendor trash. However, it has its benifits if you like to gamble. 4 green items can be turned into yellow items at a certain % by using the mystic forage. I've gotten some pretty good weapons/armor doing this, and some unique skins. ANET said they are looking at ways at reducing this, but chances are they won't remove the ability of selling items to the AH directly from your inventory.

I am not entirely sure if i understood the convenience part right tbh. Do you mean it is being used as for the convenience of emptieng your inventory from anywhere from the inventory?

If so it would be as fast as simply destroying those items on the spot and actually save you money as oposed to selling them at a loss in the TP.

(again i am not really sure i understood what you meant there : )

Lets see, many items sell for 1 copper to merchant and 2 copper on trade post. If you have 100 items you can sell them on TP for twice the price> Gain money.

I do not think that you understand.

It costs you 2 copper to put it on the TP before you even manage to sell the item and thus selling a item for 1 copper more makes you actually lose 1 copper so if you do that x100 it would have cost you 100 copper to do so. tbh this has been said in this thread numerous times.

But... Andre's post does prove

It doesn't cost these people anything if they actually sell the items on the trader. What does happen is they lose potential money. If people don't want to run to a merchant to offload their stuff it's their perogative.

It does , you do not get a tax return form in gw2.

I decided to vote "for years.." considering that i do not at anytime have think about whether it is worth my money and if i will have the time to actually use it. I can log on whenever i want at any point in time for as long as the game exists. i am happily playing the game atm and whenever i take a break of of it it will be fine and whenever there is a expansion i will most likely buy it in week 1 of its launch.

I dont see a downside to owning gw2.

This is an automated message. Your post in @ john peters was infracted.

Your original post in @ john peters:

I know there was just a post just made about this matter, but when are we necromancers actually going to start seeing the fix in the ai system of our minions. or do you guys have even any plans of fixing the ai of minions at all?

Moderator Notes:

Hi,
Posts/threads of this nature are against our forum Code of Conduct. Please refrain from making threads of this type in the future.
Thank you for your understanding.

  • The message was deleted.
  • The topic was moved.

If you believe you have received this infraction in error or wish to make an appeal, please send an e-mail to forums@arena.net.

so basically i can't even ask a simple question now towards the dev without violating code of conduct? i mean i didn't even ask in a vulgar way. a simple yes or no would've been fine or a simple reply from john saying we have plans in the future blablabla. but to even say i violated code of conduct over 1 simple question? arena net are some corrupted mofos

The answer is in the post for which it got deleted in the first place. Happens all the time. you see topics on the first page about still make your own thread. chances are it will be removed.

But i do think they are being a bit to strict with their moderation over there. I have gotten infractions points for things like being too sarcastic in a post for instance but in no way did i attack anyone or anything and the sarcasm could be taken with a grain of salt since that is often hard to discern in text.

I had more of those mssg's that made go ????? and i still have no clue what i did wrong in those posts. some i agree with and i did wrong sure but they do have some strange reasons to infract you over there.

May I remind you that while critic is permitted, one of the rules of these forums is also that excessive bashing of the same game by the same is not authorized. An account with 25+ posts all bashing GW2 and all repeating basically the same stuff over and over is obviously on an agenda, and breaking that rule. And some here are way beyond the 25+ posts of repetitive GW2 bashing.

How does it apply to this thread? There are already several threads about bots, one on  first page with a lot of posts in it already. Getting old for those who try to communicate about the game, and not against it.

^this

Pointing out someones posting history is one of the most valid responses there is simply it is a actaull record of ones behaviour and when this history shows a new acount with 25 posts and all 25 do nothing but bash then it becomes quite obvious and anyone can acces this history. It is right there for everyone to see.

If he posts "gw2 is a asian grinder!!11"  25 times exclusivly in a gw2 forum on a new account then what do you think he is doing ?

Not everything has to be all happy and positive of course but a troll = a troll and should be allowed to be pointed out and what better way to point it out then to view and point at their own public record on the matter?!

I disagree.

First of all, given how loosely the term "bashing" is used around here to basically mean "any and all criticism of a game I like", saying a poster has 25, 50 or even 100 posts of "bashing the game" or "posting excessively negative comments" is dubious at best, as it comes from an already biased and heavily skewed perspective.

Further, I'm pretty sure it's the moderators' place to make that determination, not self-appointed forum police trying to protect "their game" from criticism.

As long as the poster remains within the forum TOS as decided by the mods, they're doing nothing wrong in posting critical or even negative opinions of the game - forum member assertions to the contrary notwithstanding.

If the OP is guilty of anything, it's posting a new thread on a topic that already has threads dedicated to it. They're not guilty of pointing out the botting problem in GW2, regardless of their post history.

Maybe it'd be easier to just accept that some people are as likely to post negative opinions on a game they're not crazy about as others are to post all positive comments

Easier yes but better ? no.

easy does not equal better.

If someone decides to join a forum like this and do nothing but post negative comments on the subject then his motives will be questioned, you should not be surprised by this or try to deny anyone the right to do so since you do seem to push for his right to do so at the same time, a bit odd that.

It is like the example posted in this thread about the guy who at some point admitted that he hates funcom and how he would like to see them go bankrupt. What sort of worthwhile addition do you suppose his "opinion" on the matter will be ? None, would be my awnser since it would not matter to him to have a oppinion on any funcom game since he hates funcom to start with. So he has no need for a opinion but he may spread BS and lies and should not be pointed out for it according to you because it is his right  and it is so much easier not to do this.

Why go easy on them ? Why do people like that have all the right to do so and others not the right to point it out according to you.

That is a bit ridiculous really.

Trolls do not spread oppinions.

It's a common "debate" tactic around here, and on gaming forums in general, to try and use someone's posting history (whether quantity or content) as a way to dismiss their arguments without actually ever addressing them.

Basically, "I don't like your arguments, but I can't effectively refute them.  I'm still compelled to tell you you're wrong, so I'll just use something arbitrary and irrelevant against you instead. Let's see what your posting history is..."

If you're not used to it yet, you will be.

Fallacy of origin.

Not at all. A poster's post history was called into question in order to diminish the value of their point-of-view. There's no fallacy here at all.

If it is his own posting history that has this effect then that all by itself says enough.

BotWars2

After checking the your last 35 posts or so (which are 2/3rds about DF, and a few complaining about GW2): What do you base this on?

Do you actually play? Have you seen plenty of bots?

I never seen an obvious bot and I been playing for over 200 hours. In Linegae they were everywhere, but here no.

My main is a lvl70 thief.. i play every day not too much though as the first weeks. And yes i see bots in every area... a group of hunters running around farming, even events. I dont know why my last 35post has something to do with this... its a fact i see every day and its getting worse

It was the same crap back with Aion.

There armies of bots were constantly clearing entire quest areas of mobs. It was disgusting.

We reported every single bot, but when we still saw the exact same bots on the exact same spot farming over a week later, we all hit the Cancel button and left that craptastic game.

NCSoft has never really cared about bots and never will.

I played Aion from 2009 until 2012 i ran a fully loaded legion and a second one to accomodate alts.

That bot infestation that you mention took some time to deal with at the beginning of the game !! It takes time to collect all these bots and learn how they work and then keep uptodate with. But the way you put it all those bots showed up and were never dealt with. This is a blatant lie on your part. All bots were taken care of and no it did not take a year or years but it also did not happen in 1 day (obviously). After the big bot invasion was solved there were still bots that showed up here and there but it was so few and they got cleaned up so regularly (weekly) that it became a non issue and we ended up with 3 to 4 spammers a week which was totally negligible.

"NCsoft never cared and never will" is what you claim but the reality of it is far from it. Go dramahype some more will you, maybe soap series would make for better entertainment for you since it seems to fit your style.

Why do people keep putting items onto the TP for 1 copper higher then the vendor price when it actually costs them 2 copper to do so ? Why do people keep  doing this?

At first i thought this would be something that would settle after a while but now im starting to question if i am missing something here and that there is good reason to do this since this seems to still be a very popular use of the TP.

I dont see it though,  items that makes 14 copper on the vendor for instance are being sold for 15 copper on the TP which would cost the seller 2 copper just to put it on there and eventually nets him a result of -1 copper on the whole deal. Are there really that many people that are unaware of this?

I think this part of the TP still needs work, yes. You just shouldnt be able to put a price lower than minimum profits for the seller.

I personally never sells for less than 50% over the vendortrash price out of principle. I dont give away stuff for free, I am a theif FFS.

LOL xD

Thats another good way to RP a thief xD

Since some people raised it as a issue I also see no reason why people should be able to put items on there for less then the vendor price. All it does is help bots dump there inventory and ruin the market while adding no benefit to legit players. Legit players would have no use or benefit of this. Incase they want to be charitable they can simply give it away to anyone.

But... Andre's post does prove <is that the correct spelling? without a doubt that there are people out there that truly think they are making money this way and are not just putting these item up there like that for the ease of it. :)

I have run into this quite a few times now. As soon as i recognise it i tell the group to focus down the guardian and throw every stun and daze ,moa they have until it is down from that point on. Their entire win strategy turns into a lose strat from that point on :P

I considered doing this since 9 out of 10 times im playing with my gf on skype and sometimes some other friends, we might in tournies but i decided we will not be doing this sort of thing in hotjoin.

But it is fun to watch when it works ,GJ xD

^short SHORT sighted.

You are missing a minor detail here. In eve-online whenever we found out about a spy we could blow him up taking him out of the equation and position and take his shit. Here you have this spy that by now most people know about but nothing can be done about it. The dude is even holding a treb rendering it useless and talking about it to the team who's treb he is holding because they cannot do a single thing about it anway.

How is it naive to "harbor a mole" as you say if there is no system in place that allow you to deal with him other then to complain about the mechanics allowing them to do so and prevent you from doing anything about it it? That is not harboring a mole that is having to put up with a rat.

How realistic is that? "hey guys we have a spy here" ...."well nothing to do about it , we now know who and where he is but better leave him to it and do his thing for as long as he likes "  ...right!?

do you even know what the word 'naive' means??

Too much supply brings down the prices.  Trading Post is linked across all servers, both US & EU.

If they lowered the drop rate, and these items became more rare, then the market wouldn't be so saturated.  Or they should just remove the prices on them.

Either way, i just salvage them and sell the mats or use them.

This will never change so long as every player gets their own farming node. So in other games where a node spawns maybe 3 items into the game economy, now you have 3X every player who hits it.

This is also a good point actually. I never was big on crafting so i do not know if it requires more mats to balance this out but i imagine this could be the case.

To a lesser degree, I saw this in Rift. Breaking down gear into some usable crafting items. People didn't need to buy or farm every single item they needed to level thier crafting with, sometimes items could be broken down and even 1-2 extra points were gained. This kept the supply a bit higher and the demand a bit lower.

I can see how that works yeah. I never really paid attention to how the marke actually works outside of eve-onlines market but that of course is a whole different ballgame. Come to think of it i suspect eve's market system is probably the reason i never took any themeparks market system serious now that i think about it :)

Who's buying this junk? It seems to me most of this crap doesn't sell and is returned to the player. At best it is just being used to clear bag space, but then you still end up selling it to a vender later.

You can use the mystic forage as a means of upgrading equipment and getting rare skins

something i still need to truly look into other then walking up to it and opening the menu lol.

Yes, by now it's semi-old, but even today, via Facebook feed of the Vault wiki, I learn things I never knew, and I've played the game through several times, with hundreds of hours.  Most games you play that much, you are looking at serious repetition of 10x the same scenarios or more.  Exploring and doing everything, I probably only found the same areas or did the same quests 3 times, each with different builds.

Anyone who has used the vault as a resource knows that just based on that, the game is massive, like no other game has ever been, and probably ever will be.  New vegas impressively had about 75% as much content, and skyrim probably had about 75% as well.   And you can tell the difference based on wiki pages and articles available between the games. Find any other game with as many articles denoting all the different items, gameplay mechanics, areas, quests, npcs, etc.  You can't, it doesn't exist.  It's possible it never will, though I hope that's not the case.

I know bethesda has a lot of haters, but F1 and F2 were really very small games, though good, compared to F3 and it's just easily the king of the open world rpg.  Onto the list...

1.  Mesmetron

2.  Mysterious stranger

3.  Tenpenny Tower

4.  Reilly's Rangers

5.  Harold in Oasis

6.  DC post-apoc... the mall, the washington monument, lincoln monument...

7.  hacking, lockpicking, speech checks, skill-based dialogue options

8.  reverse pick-pocketing to change armor and blow people up

9.  3 dog

10.  Tranquility Lane

I could do this ten times and not run out of cool stuff about the game.  If for some reason you haven't played it... don't let time turn it into one of those old games that are awesome but impossible to get into.  As someone who's always gaming, I've still missed out on a lot of good rpgs that I just didn't know about 15 years ago.

I nevr played it for longer then 3 hours so i dont even have a clue of the significance of that list :3

I'm not saying I know for sure, but having to set a bottom price is a sign of a bad or failed economy. I'm drawing reference from GW2 and Swtor being the only recent AAA mmos I can recall having to do so. I know it's not like this in WoW, RIFT, or TSW.

It does not seem to be a issue of "having" to do so but more of a deciscion of simply doing it like this. It has been like this from day one so there has been no measure to go by to conclude that it simply "has" to be done this way. But giving players the potion to dump tons of items on the TP below or even way below the market price could potentially pose issues so why not prevent that in the first place as i do not see how this impairs anyone it sounds like a great choice.
