[Poll] For those who don't like the animations...
General Discussion « The Secret World 3/06/13 4:40:44 PM
I played at launch, and again in January after the B2P switch. The animations have always been shit, still are shit, and will likely always be shit. That being said, the atmosphere and story can't be beat by any other MMO's on the market today, but unfortunately, that isn't enough to keep me playing. EDIT: Someone said the animations were motion captures, and I had to laugh. I didn't know that, but they don't even look motion captured... they just look like half-assed animations. |

F2P or P2P Mode for TESO? What do you prefer?
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 3/05/13 4:04:18 PM
P2P will always be preferrable to F2P garbage. Cash shops immediately makes a game feel cheaper and uglier. Just my opinion, however.

[Column] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: A Realm Rising?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/05/13 2:40:34 PM
I can't wait for FFXIV: ARR to come out. It's really the only MMO I'm excited to play that is coming out soonish.

Diablo 3: Travis Day Speaks On Itemization

I think they might actually be on the right track finally. It's incredibly late, but meh.

I personally feel there's next to no immersion in GW2. Nothing ever really sucked me in, and never once did I get excited travelling to new areas, or really about anything in the world. I played for the combat and a bit of crafting, and that's not enough to keep me into it.

World of Warcraft: The Thunder King Official Trailer Released
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/27/13 5:24:53 PM
Was pretty epic rhyming, and this makes me wish I enjoyed raiding at all. I have played WoW since launch, and I always quit when I get to end-game and start raiding. Even with the LFR system, I've no interest. I started playing MoP again when it launched, and after a little over a month, I got to 90, got my ilvl high enough to run raids, and after the first two raids were over, I just couldn't be bothered to keep going. lol

Originally posted by Kinh021 The other side of the coin is easily understandable. People who want to play for free because they don't have the means to pay monthly, people who don't feel the product is worthy of a sub yet for some reason still want to play it anyway, or people are just too cheap and want to get as much for free as possible. There are plenty of other options for you out there, so leave the few remaining games that are P2P for the actual people who prefer P2P. The value of money and the value of a game varies from one person to the next. Decide where you stand, make a decision to bite the bullet or not, and move on. There's really nothing else that needs to be said about it.

General: Blizzard Hints at New Game for PAX East
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/27/13 10:53:27 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing something new from them, but as someone brought up already, it's probably a game for cell phones or something and will suuuuuuuuck.

If they EVER even THINK of putting an F2P option in this game, they better making it a high level requirement before they can start talking in any global chat that is available. I'd personally give separate global/local chat channels for P2P and F2P players. Whispers and general chat is fine, however. I don't mind if free players are actually playing the game, I just don't wanna read any of their shit, and quite frankly, it should be a perk of subbing that I never have to. |

"US free-to-play audience outnumbers pay-to-play 6 to 1"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/27/13 9:57:19 AM
Obvious thread is obvious. Of course there's gonna be more people who'll hang around for free instead of having to pay. That's just how people are.

D3 is actually Blizzard's first let down for me, and really, it's not even THAT terrible of one, I suppose. I've loved WoW (for about 6 years), Diablo 1 and 2, and even though I have never been into RTS, I even enjoyed the original SC and the Warcraft series (the only RTS's I've ever gotten into), and sometimes even watch SC2 as my cousin is playing, or on twitch, 'cause it's just fun to watch here and there. Diablo 3 has a decent combat system, but the leveling system and itemization gets old incredibly quickly. However, it's not until Inferno that these problem truly pop up, so up until that point, it's a decent game, albeit with an absolutely AWFUL plot hole-filled story. But even then... D3 is still more fun to play than other isometric RPG's on the market to me. I gave PoE, Torchlight 1 and 2, each a solid 5 hours or so, and just couldn't get into them. D3 however, I put 76 hours into a character.... though I was expecting better of Inferno than was given. Now I just don't care enough to give it another go. I'm also bitter about the RMAH/AH. I would've much preferred if neither were present in the game. But they'll never remove it. |

Scarlet Blade: Customization is Key

Originally posted by kaiserxxx Actually it was "LONELY, horny, socially dysfunctional nerd." ;) But yes, porn is the point. I wouldn't call that "so much description", just a generalization of what these developers likely think of the gaming community. This really occurs to me as the only reason why developers would make a game like this. Sorry you took that as insulting, as that wasn't my intention. Have fun. |

I can only wonder what the advertising for this game will be like.. "Hey, you lonely, horny, socially dysfunctional nerd -- this is all the fap material you could ever need!" |

For a series known for its amazing PvE - why so focused on PvP for ESO?
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 2/24/13 9:24:27 PM
It's would be stupid of them to cater only to the amount of people who only want to PvE, instead of doing everything and appealing to the masses.

FFXIV will be the game of 2013 my bet!
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2/24/13 7:54:02 PM
The decision for 2013 seems to come down to: FFXIV: ARR, Neverwinter, and TESO, and to be honest, FFXIV looks to be the best of the bunch. I am glad they're sticking to their guns in regards to a subscription model rather than F2P garbage, and I truly hope it works out for them. Same for TESO if it uses a subscription model. I don't know much about it. |

Anyone else feel that MMOs are a HUGE waste of time?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/22/13 11:45:02 PM
MMO's are entertainment, and a life without entertainment is not a life worth living. If you feel it's a huge waste of time, then don't play them anymore. Get out and enjoy other aspects of life that don't ring as a waste of time in your mind. If it makes you happy for even a short amount of time, it's not a waste of time. If you feel you're addicted to the genre in theory, but aren't actually into the games themselves, then it's probably time to move on. Personally, I don't really find current MMO's overly fun, but I have an addictive personality, and I've been playing them for so long, I'm just on here checking to see what's up all the time. I haven't really played any MMO's in a long time becuase I always end up trying them and getting bored quickly. I was hoping GW2 was gonna be the end to that, but I ended up getting tired of that game within a month and now I'm back in MMO limbo. I just basically go out and have a life, and when I'm bored, I try to find an MMO that's worth playing, and if I can't, I just play my PS3. :P I think I'm actually more interested in fun PS3 games with an online component nowadays, rather than a full blown MMO's. |

THIS NEW TESO news is going to shock you all, literally.
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 2/22/13 11:29:03 PM
Full voice over really depends on how everything works together. Having a ton of different quest givers strewn about with menial tasks and full voice over in one area is gonna get boring, but if they have quality quest lines around as you explore areas like in Skyrim, it won't be so bad. The voice over isn't what was bad about SWTOR, it was just how it was implemented with their quest system. The voice overs were quality, but the quests were shitty, so few people cared about listening to all the voice overs and just wanted to skip through so they could finish the quest and level. |
