I am not a fan of F2P, to be honest, but there really is no correlation between the downtimes/other issues and the fact that it's free. Any negatives of Neverwinter could have happened with any type of game, whether B2P, F2P or P2P, and in fact, there have been worse issues than what we see in Neverwinter in P2P games, for sure. Even WoW has rolled back their servers longer than 7 hours before because issues arose where it was necessary. Shit happens. |

Whether we have issues or not, that doesn't make it unfinished. Cryptic has made it quite clear with their no wipe, and their real money exchanges, that they believe the game is ready for launch. They're just cautious about the server's ability to handle the load, and their real money - AD - Zen conversion rates. But yes, saying it's open beta is just enough leverage to screw RMT players. Technically, they could probably reset everything, and say "sorry for your loss, this was OPEN BETA!" I feel everything they're doing currently is for the best of the community, whether it's enjoyed or not. I wouldn't wanna play a game with a completely whacked out economy. I think I'm randomly rambling on about random shit now maybe. |

Luckily for me, I didn't play during those seven hours that were rolled back. WHEEEEE!!

71% say wipe 29% say don't... Cryptic decides NO WIPE
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/20/13 12:19:18 PM
To be honest, if they wipe, I likely won't play again. One time through even to just level 30 is enough. I've also redone the starting areas so many times trying all the classes and some twice to find which one I wanted to play, that I really don't wanna start over. lol

The Founder Program ends soon. Become a Founder now before it's too late:
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/19/13 9:01:21 PM
As much as I am enjoying this game at the moment, these Founders options are a friggin' scam. I can't believe people would pay the outrageous prices they're asking. But hey, to each their own, I s'pose. |

The Original WoW Players: Where Are You Now?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/19/13 7:22:26 PM
I played WoW heavily since the week of open beta for a few years, then off and on for most of WoW's life after, usually only taking a few months at most off. I went back in MoP recently, and in less than a month I leveled a Monk to 90, and did some raiding and realized that even though the game is good, I'll never get my initial excitement for the game back, and I've finally stopped playing for good I think. :( Before that, I had stopped for about a year before MoP, but thought about going back a lot -- now I don't even think about it. I am currently playing Neverwinter and enjoying it, but I doubt any games from here on out are going to excite me as much as my first time playing WoW. Oh wells! |

Sure hope I -- as well as others like me -- don't get punished with a rollback or anything, when I've never used the AH in this game at all yet. We'll see, though. |

Death? What's that? (How many times do you expect to die?)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/16/13 12:08:37 PM
I wish there was an MMO with Dark Souls mechanics. Gain xp, and continue getting it but use it as all in-game currency for buying everything, as well as leveling, but if you die, you have to run back to your corpse or you lose all your unspent XP, and if you die again on the way, you leave another corpse with nothing on it. :p The difficulty is negotiable, however, if no one wants a crazy hard PvE game. |

Do you read quest text or just click accept?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/16/13 12:42:32 AM
I generally read most of the quests the first time through. But really, I don't need a big write up every time I'm told to go clear some wolves from a location. After a while, I zone out, but if it's a quest line that is exciting and ramping up to big boss battles or something, I'll generally get a little more excited to do them and read them all the way through it. So I guess I'm in between. I don't really care about the little tasks that don't contribute much to main story, but big story quests I'll get into. |

With how mediocre the game is, I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

Neverwinter Community: What the hell is going on?...

I gotta go to work, so I can't find that post right now. Maybe someone else can. |

Neverwinter Community: What the hell is going on?...
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/13/13 1:07:21 PM
Generally, there's no talking in any of the group content in this game, pug-wise, so I'll agree the community is very anti-social. Still, I like how in most games, people like to blame the entire community for being bad when in reality, it was one person that really got under their skin. Just ignore the person and finish the run. It's really not that big of a deal that you need to get so offended. People who get mad over little things like this on games have no life. |

My one major problem I have with the game is that everyone starts in the same spot with the same main story missions, so playing more than one or two characters through is gonna be enough for most people, I'd say. I wish choosing where your home was before crashing on Neverwinter's shores did more than give you different choices for a starter title. And if it does, enlighten me.

After maybe half of the first zone, the MoP "silliness" dies down quite a bit and goes full badass. But personally, I never really found any of it all that silly. It was just fun. I'd say, if you want to avoid it, then you don't really want to play and are forcing it, so you might as well quit. |
|
|
I agree in a sense. It's absolutely not fun to have a system like GW2's where you have forced de-leveling in older zones. However, a system like FFXI or what CoH used where you can group with others and be adjusted to their level is great. Can help out any friends of any level without losing the feeling of being powerful in the open world while solo.

What's with the "I hope this game fails" crowd?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/10/13 2:38:29 PM
I generally only hope games fail if they're generic pieces of shit. If games failed more, it would force the developers to try new things and think outside of the box in order to make one that doesn't fail. Obviously this is just an opinion, since there will always be people enjoying what I consider to be the worst trash in gaming, and vice versa. SWTOR is a prime example. |

So is everything of worth behind an AD or Zen wall?
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/10/13 11:03:38 AM
Originally posted by Panzerbase The point is that there's a sucker born every minute, and you were one of them. :) Not saying I'm not also at the moment, since I'm currently playing, but not really high enough level to feel the cash shop effects. If they're really as bad as the OP says, then I'll quit once I hit one of these walls. As a new player just starting, it seems like a fair system, but I still would much prefer a good ol' sub option. Still, if I really get into this game, maybe spending 10 bucks here and there will be perfectly fine should I have the extra cash available. |

What MMO do you believe had the best potential but failed in execution?

GW2. WAR being a close second. I only say this because I actually spent more time playing WAR than I did playing GW2.
