It's not just a game. It is well-known in social sciences that people who become desensitized to violence become more aggressive. While this won't spark something as ridiculous as what Modern Warfare shows (virtual Genocide) it is certainly not healthy for society and is quite barbaric.

It's one thing when the horde of enemies are murderous thugs or "evil goblins" or an honorable war. But to kill defenseless civilians who scream and cry out for mercy? It's just taking it too far.

 

What's next? A virtual torture game where you win the level once you get the information out of your victim?

Enough is enough. Corporate greed needs to back off and take their hands off their wallets for a second and consider something most of us like to call: Dignity.

So I been playing Violent Video Games for maybe the past 9-10 years now such as War games Grand Theft Auto hell I even watch violent movies guess that means I should be in prison for murder right about now huh? I kill the civilians in GTA sometimes on accident most of the time on purpose does this mean I am going to go ahead and do it in the real world?

Yes some people might play these games and do it but that is because they are mentally unstable but for the most part people just play a game when they have free time. If games were all fuzzy bunnies hopping around I wouldn't want to play it unless you toss in some guns.

Most people know the difference between reality and a game the select few that don't know the difference have mental issues in which they can't comprehend the differences. Like I said I have been playing violent games watching violent movies yet I'm no more aggressive then before I started playing and watching.

Now I see two people in this thread talking about how bad it is yet you are here you read the article so chances are you have played and watched violent games. I honestly don't see whats so wrong with killing a pixel character or playing a pixel bad guy.

When I do get Modern Warfare 2 I will sure look forward to this level.

I'm kind of curious about FFXI also I mean I love the game but I wonder if SE plans on releasing new expansions for it and no I don't mean add-ons I mean full blown expansions. FFXI has and will always be my favorite MMO no game can compete with it for me.

This sounds so awesome been waiting to see someone make an announcement like this. Undead Labs you got my eyes and ears and hope you do a "damned" good job on this game.

Other then the waiting for a group FFXI has got to be the best MMO to date. I have not played in a few months but lately been having an urge to get back into it. There is also tons of stuff you can do while searching for a group I think that is why people complain about the wait time between groups you can do quests, crafting, and hunt Notorious Monsters(Little Bosses) and that's only a few things but there is a ton more stuff to be done. You really got to work for your stuff in FFXI which is why I like it so much.

Now talking about it has made me want to install and play again.

I have never played AO so I really can't speak for that game but I have played FFXI since the PS2 release on and off and it is just an amazing game.

What would be the point in saving a game if you are dead? I don't believe the whole 2012 thing it is nothing but the next Y2K.

When was the last time a good MMO has released? How many have reached and kept over 100k subscribers? The fact of the matter is WoW has pretty much killed MMO's so it's either play WoW or nothing me I went with nothing. However I do see a couple gems that I have been closely watching and in all honesty I hope WoW is no more after they release. It's time to put away the kid stuff and put out something for the adults and yes WoW is a kid game (Does not mean it's filled entirely with kids it has adults to who act like kids) on the fact it is just way to easy not to mention if you have ever played WoW and seen the way people act on there you would agree to unless you are one of the kids.

I want hours of game play not minutes.

I enjoyed the time spent getting to 75 no matter what you decided to do you always had something to do you could be leveling doing quests to raise your fame hanging out talking with your linkshell. Now if we have to sacrifice community for solo play then no I don't want it however I wouldn't mind a tad bit of solo content but I do much rather prefer grouping with nice and slow leveling I hate the whole race to cap. I want to enjoy the game as long as possible like FFXI been playing on and off since PS2 release and not even 50% through content I

I love a challenge and hate easy games that hands you everything I felt a sense of accomplishment when I turned 59 and got a Haubergeon. That's what I want in an MMO a sense of accomplishment not a oh I got all my stuff in a month I want to take the time to try everything and not just rush to cap in a few weeks.

So for me I want a huge leveling curve with community.

As a FFXI vet I will give this game a go but if it leans far to the casual play no dice I wont keep playing and will just give up MMO's since all games now lean solo play which is no fun at all.

I would love to see this game released before Cataclysm because well there really is nothing on the MMO market worth playing I will be playing APB as long as they don't go the RMT route which from what I seen game play wise should keep me entertained for awhile. First time I stepped foot into WoW was in Feb 05 took me 6 months to hit 60 and really never seen any problems with endgame guilds or pre endgame PUGS. Now never really got to do TBC endgame so can't say anything for that. Now WotLK endgame has just made the game unworthy of time wasting gear checks achievement checks in all honesty at least back in Pre-BC your guild was there for you running through old content to help you gear up. The reason for that is because it was encouraged to run through each instance every week now once you get your top tier its pointless yes you can farm emblems but after getting the best stuff what then there is nothing.

Blizzard really needs to fix the community aspect get rid of achievements bring back the 40 mans stop giving gear away this game has sunk to a low level and really needs to rise back up otherwise there really is no point in getting on a ship that is sinking faster then you can drain the water. I would really like to play the game again but in it's current state not worth my time Cataclysm so far is not worth my time I would rather enjoy a game where I can play have fun chat with people and not have to worry about getting to max level and not be able to do anything cause I don't have the gear. Yes there is active chat but its nothing but immature chat and I want to play a game for fun not to listen to people acting stupid.

Best bet would be to put it out between the new expansion and the new patch cause after only a few weeks of the patch being released most content will be done and before the expansion so you have those mass of bored WoW players come in play the game for a few months and find they like it stick with it and maybe half the players will stick or maybe more.

They shouldn't release it unfinished yet they should try to get it out as soon as they can but with nothing broken of course because as you can see most games that release broken don't bounce back from it. So it's all about timing it if they can between the WoW final big patch and the new expansion.

A few of those games don't deserve a place in history. No guild Wars? No Final Fantasy XI? No Everquest?

This article really needs to be scrapped.

Well once they kick this guy out of SOE and revive the games to the days without all this BS I will be more then happy to play SOE games again till then I'm against them.

 Well right now I'm stuck playing console till I order a new graphics card and power supply but plan to play WAR but for now I am playing Demon's Souls.

 I wont play a game that is B2P P2P with a cash shop I expect everything in game when I'm paying a monthly fee except for server transfer which really can't be considered a cash shop item I'm talking about in game items no matter what they are. The lack of content I wouldn't mind because it's a new game I would expect a lack of content but that pretty much is where it would end.

Because I never played AoC, or Aion and have yet to play either of the others long enough to give my full 2 cents on them. I played WoW long enough to give my thoughts on it so I think I have every right to post on why I stopped playing and what would make me come back to playing not oh you should try this or that in WoW. Are you seriously this retarded to stop and think maybe just maybe we have tried everything and don't enjoy the game like well I was going to say you but the fact is your on the forums too much to be playing the game.
