Actually... I am yet to find a "totally free" mmorpg that's worth playing, Most of the "free" ones out there aren't really free when push comes to shove either. Either they have some sort of wierd cash shop where you can buy items/levels/whatever for real money or you can't enjoy all aspects of the game unless you pay to play (i.e. can't build houses, can't go to certain areas, can't level beyond level X and so on). So my suggestion to you is to try a few of the free trials of the pay-to-play games that are out there and decide which one is worth paying for.
ps. And those that in fact are TOTALLY FREE usually suck so bad that you'll scream and blood will pour out of your eyes after a few hours of game play. ds. |

Just have to add a little something. As noted above you most often find the most mature people in RP-communities. Sadly they can be quite hard to find in some games and when you finally do it's not all the time it's just "up your alley". Just as all others, the RP-community are very devided ranging from "Light/Diet" to "Elite-hardcore-knows-it-alls". And if you're a non-RP'er you might want to reconsider searching for an RP-community alltogether. So do give it a try, it's worth it. |

I am too a so called veteran, been around since the early days of UO (pre-trammel to be more specific). And before that I played my fair share of MUD's even though I never really liked then. Then after a few years (more like several years) I decided to quit UO. It felt like I had done everything in there and seen every place there were to see. But I can't seem to find the game and community that I want either, but now I see something just over the hill that might in fact be something just for me with the things I want from a game.

You think so? ... The reason I got cold feet was that a friend of mine (which will remain nameless) is in BETA and he said that he didn't think I'll be able to play it. Then again, he's one of those people that thinks that unless you have the newest, best and coolest machine on the market you can't do anything worthwhile... I think you just made my day Gameloading... *giggles merrily and jumps around* ... 'cause Vanguard sure looks like it's the perfect game for me. Housing, Shopkeeping, Crafting, Diplomacy... everything I love in mmoRPGs. *still remembers with happiness the first days of UO and SWG* ... |

I was wondering... Being a little geek decorator/shop keeper this is crusial for me when picking a game. Which games on the market has housing these days? And with that I mean true housing, not the "everyone-walks-into-the-same-door-to-their-private-room"-housing as in EQ2. I know Ultima Online has it and Star Wars Galaxies. Both games which I've played and loved. The Vanguard-people has shown their houses off too in movies here and there but I am starting to doubt if my computer will be able to even play that game (having a 2.5 gHz, 1024 RAM and a ATI X550-card). So .... help? |

Darn you beat me to it... I have been able to reveiw games for a long time and I've just started to post on these boards. And as you can see I'm not even close to 100 posts. |

SWG because that was a lovely game at first and I guess I could convince myself that it still is if I try hard enough... never did like AC so to that I say; Bleh!

I went back to UO for the free week they had recently... and I do adore that place. But it's gotten soooo ooooold! Everything's out of date and/or damaged, one way or another. Come on now people? Could someone please make a re-vamp of UO? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top?

We're both old UO'ers I see and both of us love crafting and shops. I am too one of those that can't seem to find a decent game. As for EQ2 I'd say BLEH! It's horrible for crafters/shopkeepers really due to the fact that you're bound to certain places for making your items. At least in UO you had an option to actually chat/interract with people while crafting... that's not an optin in EQ2. But if you do find something, be sure to send me a PM... I'll be there in a jiffy... |

Well, all I can say is that I LOVED nwn1 with all of my heart and was in fact hysterically happy when nwn2 came out. But alas, I'm "slightly above" their minimum req specs. 0.2 Ghz over the recommended, 512 more RAM and a pretty good graphics card. And the game is TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE even after I lowered it to Medium settings (The game auto-set High because it thought I would be able to handle that for some odd reason). The avatars are ugly and the character-voices you can choose are copied over from nwn1. At least I couldn't find any new ones. |

Marvel MMO - can it be much different from City of heroes/Villains?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/01/06 5:20:28 AM
Well... I for one can't see it getting any worse than CoH. I truly hated that game. (Kepp in mind that I LOVE super heroes)
And of course you can have gears and trinkets in game (I assume that with gears you mean items?). There are so many things that could be implemented in a super hero game without adding extra powers with every item you find. And maybe they'll actually implement true super hero powers instead of the CoH "Do-the-same-thing-but-with-different-color"-powers? I'd love to make myself a little, rubbery super heroinne that can elongate her arms and/or hair. |

Personally I'm one of those rabid roleplayers that always stay in-character (except in whispers, pm's and such). That's how I have the most fun, but I agree that it's sometimes hard to find decent places to roleplay. And most likely I'll be a middle aged woman, some sort of dirty beggar or a nun/monk trying to save the souls of the poor people that doesn't know what's good for 'em. |

If you're a roleplayer I'd be more than happy to hook up with you "in there". 'cause that and keeping shop is what I do best. And we all know that "Good roleplaying" + "Friendly social behaviour" + "snappy dresser" + "serious shop keeper" = Success |

That's what I've heard too... "Wait for Vanguard". It's supposed to be quite good I've heard (and I've looked over the shoulder of a friend that's in Beta). Hmm... but it sure seem to be just up my alley. The social aspect seem important, the ability to have a house is crusial to me and keeping shop is probably the things I find most fun in games of the MMO-kind. |

Oh, you're right... that would be a better place to be. For some reason I thought that the Pub was for specific game-discussion only. |

Here I am, an old timer when it comes to online gaming. Started with Ultima Online many many years ago, when the lands were new and the flowers blooming... blah and so on. After I've spent way too many years in the lovely land of Britannia I felt it was getting very out of date and "ugly" so I had to find a new spot. So I tried several different mmorpg's, here's a few of 'em; Anarchy Online (got bored due to no content), Star Wars Galaxies (well, we all know what they did to that game don't we?), Horizons (Bleh! Ick! Eew!), City of Heroes, Everquest2 and World of Warcraft (all three bored me stiff 'cause I hate level-games where you can only do one single thing) Now I just can't find any game that's worth playing... I want something worth while with more content than just running around whacking things on the head and leveling. Just a few pointers; I loved Ultima Online and Star wars galaxies. And I'm a TOTAL RP'er so games that has similiar function/playability would be prefered. |
