Oh, right, you probably don't do any of these things. Instead you stand in one spot swinging your lightsaber every few seconds and press a button to twirl like a ballerina for extra damage. Why? You can make something fun, innovative, and exciting... or put a fresh coat of paint on the same boring MMO concept and have it die off after the free months run out.

 

It's not going to change until we stop buying the same vanilla themepark MMO and start demanding something innovative and fun.

 

 

I love post like this.  He's never actually played the game.  Yet he's convinced, he knows everything about it.  Any chance I can get you to tell me what the Pick 3 or Pick 4 is for tomorrow in Maryland?

As for the new classes.  They sound interesting.  I think i'd still go with a Sith Warrior though.

I have a 41 and 36 character.  I haven't spent a dime on the game yet.  The thought has crossed my mind.  As I would like more bag space, but it's not like it's a necessity for day to day grinding.  Even less so with the new Treasure Boxes that come with new character created.  I get all the healing items I could ever need from them.  Hell I have a bank full of heal items.

Yes.  That's basically what it boils down to.  SWG was one way then SOE pulled a 180 with the NGE.  What they did wasn't as simple as say a nerf.  Classes were dropped, others that remained were watered down.  A fairly open skill system got pigeon holed into a class based system.  Whether it was good or bad, is only part of the problem.  You just don't do that to your fanbase.  

I believe I also read something about Chris Brown being a WoW player.

I've given it a lot of thought since I first heard about the new expansion.  In the end I think I'll definitely be going back to WoW for a bit.  I stopped playing it probably just before Black Temple was released. So I was thinking that I would start up now.  Try to find a decent guild.  Get my characters decently equipped.  Even raise a new alt or two, before new expansion.  Basically I need a good guide on dailies.  Back when I left I don't think they were around, at least if they were I don't remember.  So any advice or helpful hints for someone that has been out of the loop.  Would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I'm waiting for that, Tera, and C9.

Yes, we get it.  You don't like certain traits of modern MMORPGs.  But you're the minority -- while you claim MMORPGs have gone downhill, more players than ever are playing them (by a lot.)  And they're playing the instanced MMORPGs.  Which makes Garriott's comment rather accurate.

I was going to comment on the OP's post.  Not sure I want to though.  After reading his post, it's like he has lost all touch with reality.  I did get a good laugh from his opening post though.  Something that will keep me laughing for the next 10 hours of work.

I was looking at them while I was over at ONrpg.  They look great.

but a DK has a starting zone designed to teach a player about the class, quests that unlock talent points and used specific skills and abilities.  They could not leave the starting zone untill they completed the quest line.

 

 

You're right the DK has it's own starting area to acclimate the player to the class.I guess I'm just hoping it happens.

I remember right after Wotlk was released and reading all the post's on other forums requesting all classes start at 55 if you had an 80 already.If enough people request it,it could happen,it's a lot of potential money for Blizzard :)

DAOC had something similar with their /level command. I wouldn't be opposed to someone with an 80 being able to use a command to level the new character up to 20 or 25 at most.  Of course I don't think that would work well with the new expansion.  Would have been nice if it was added before.  I would have resubbed in heartbeat.  Though I do plan to resub soon, and I still need to buy WOTLK.  The new expansion idea's peaked my interest enough to get me to go back to WoW.

I agree with Axehilt.  Making War F2P would fix the fundamental problems of the game.  Because those problems are within it's core mechanics. The combat is just one of many problems people had with the game.  Though fixing combat would probably pull some people back.

I guess the difference between WoW vs Darkfall popularity wise is this.  WoW has millions of players spread over thousands of servers.  Within these servers they hold a small population which is made even smaller with instancing.  Darkfall on the other hand has one server for EU and one for NA.  Both of which boast large populations which far surpass a WoW server.  Darkfall in this case is clearly superior.  

So by your logic. Eve-Online is the God of God's as far as MMO's are concerned, no? Eve-Online has 1 server. Eve-Online supports more people on that one server then DF's two servers put together. (At least from what I've read on CCP's setup)

My op has a few more details as to what went down. I'm torn between what to do! I'm going to let my 2nd acc sub run out for sure, but 6months is a big waste and while I do dislike AV, its a shame to let that get in the way of an essentialy great game.

A game released back in what, Feb? Compared to a game that isn't even out of beta yet.  Yeah I could definitely see how that is a fair comparison.

I seriously doubt they'll do class changes.  People rolling alts of another class keeps them paying and playing longer.  A guy that was in same guild as me, back when I use to play.  Had 3 mages, all Human.  If they did do Class change service, probably see more DK's and Paladins around.  From my understanding they are the FOTM classes at the moment, from what I've been reading.

Not true! You can get a 30 day Trial.  All you have to do is slip AV those CC digits, and let them deduct 50 bucks.  Then BAM, you get your 30 day free Trial.

This thread made me laugh a little bit.  While I don't always agree with what Ilvaldyr says most of the time.  I think he nailed it in this thread.
