Star Wars: The Old Republic: EA Scores Multi-Game Publishing Rights to Star Wars Titles
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/07/13 4:13:24 AM
ROFL These news mean we are going to have all the silly bitter people bitching and moaning for years to come on websites like this.
EA must be pretty happy about this. Lots of free advertising since it's obvious that getting voted worst company in America only brings big bucks into their pockets.
Well played EA, and by the way, I have no problems sending more money your way. |

I couldn't care less what IGN gave to Defiance. I have always played games and decided for myself if they are good enough and provide the entertainment I am looking for. In the case of Defiance, I found the game to be rather simple, after all it's mainly just a shooter, but it's a fun shooter. It's also not the only game I play so my shooting sessions there are always welcome for a change of pace.
As stated before, I decide for myself, and I feel sorry for those who follow advice of morons on the internet like Angry Joe or gaming sites like IGN or MMORPG.

Good for you OP, but my opinion about GW2 still hasn't changed. I still think it's a shallow and mediocre game with horrendous storylines, and even worse voice acting. How do I know that ? My son still plays a bit, but I won't break his little heart telling him how I feel about it lol so I'll just go and mind my own business and play something I enjoy. |

Dear ZOS, Please Don't Let Paul Sage Wreck This Game...

When the final product is live, I'll play it and if I don't find it that entertaining, I'll just move on. I suggest you do the same. It's just another videogame.

Is this living story just another gimmick ?
I played GW2 in beta and the story is among the worst I've seen in AAA MMOs I've played in the last 8-9 years. Add the horrendous dialogue and voice overs, and the super cheap and poor character cutscenes that were probably forced on Anet by NC Soft in preparation for the Asian launch of the game. There were many other things that turned me off about GW2, but the story is a total failure, and now they're advertising a "living story" ?
Was there ever one to begin with ? Seriously Anet, you should really start considering spending some more money in hiring real writers and actors for your games. Some people don't even bother about stories and voice acting in MMOs, but if you decided to attempt to present one to your audience. try a little bit harder next time because your current efforts in GW2 scream AMATEUR.

Is funcom even supporting its game anymore?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 3/02/13 3:31:32 AM
Originally posted by Raekon So what exactly are they doing to their customers that is truly sad ? I've been a paying customer for 3 years in AoC and have never had any issues with the game or with customer support. Even now that Funcom is going through heavy restructuring, they have answered all my feedback emails promptly in both AoC and TSW within 48 hours. Not sure about AO because I haven't logged in for a while.
So assuming that your claims are true, I think it's clear you are a very unlucky customer and definitely not the norm (people in my guild have never talked in chat about any serious problems with the game or CS), but I wouldn't discard that you're just trolling either. |

HOLY cow, Secrets of Dragon's Spine Trailer - this kicks *** !
General Discussion « Age of Conan 2/07/13 7:53:57 PM
Originally posted by h0urg1ass I see you are one big misinformed troll. That innovative game designer you refer to is also the man who lied to players and company execs and released the game in an unfinished state claiming it was ready. Guess what ? I appreciate what that "incompetent schmuck" did for the game when he took over and at least he has managed to keep the game alive.
About Dragon's Spine, of course it is not a full expansion. It was never meant to be. Craig clearly said it would be the next adventure pack like the Turan pack, which obviously you know nothing about. The new adventure packs will always contain less content than a regular expansion but they are priced accordingly. Turan pack was roughly $12. After last summer survey, Craig said the adventure packs would be released in parts so that players wouldn't have to wait a long time to experience new content and furthermore, he said the packs would be free for subscribers, which is a reality now that the first Dragon's spine content is out.
While it is true that FC is going through a restructuring process, what we know is that they're combining the different live teams into only one team to service all 3 MMOs. This is very different from your claim that they laid off everybody and hired a new team. Also, other than the Beijing offices being closed this year, all other branches ( Oslo, Montreal, North Carolina) are still operational from the information that has been released.
Is FC going through hard times ? I'd definitely say yes, but they are still pumping out new content for AoC and TSW. Not sure about AO because I haven't logged in for a long time now. So your claim that we won't see content for years is just another troll statement.
So there you go. Next time, try a little harder and at least get informed a bit before trying to spread your nonsense, because as you can see, it is very easy to prove your posts have zero credibility. |

I'm backing this project already. As far as I know, they already have the funding to make the game. The KS is only to speed up the process.
To me, supporting the project means letting them know there are people out there supporting the vision of a new and different kind of fantasy MMO. Hope they succeed with this project. |

Age of Conan: Unchained: F2P Option Retooled
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/15/12 12:32:57 PM
Originally posted by black_isle Just to clarify this for you : They did not take anything away from you. When game went f2p it was made perfectly clear that RotGS would remain available for subscribers only with an option for free players to access the content via weekly passes regardless of you buying the expansion previously or not. Would it be better if they implemented something like the new TSW business model ? Probably yes, but it is what it is at the moment. What if Blizzard suddenly decided to extend WoW's f2p trial to include every expansion but MoP which would remain available for subbers only ? I can guarantee that lots of people would happily drop their subscriptions and would still be complaining that Blizzard took away MoP from them (for those who paid for that expansion) when it would be clear from the beginning that MoP would not be part of the deal.
Sorry, but the truth is many people read or hear F2P and they immediately see themselves having access to everything without having to pay a cent, ever. Have you heard the saying : "Give them an inch, they want a mile". I think it's perfectly valid in this case.
As for your AA concern, people who bought the RotGS expansion have access to the full AA system in AoC under the f2p model. The only option in the AA system unavailable for free players who own the expansion is the time trained feature.

If anything, this change proves that Funcom is willing to adapt to new trends in the industry. Nothing wrong with admitting that the sub only model was not optimal for the game.
I really applaud Funcom for this move that will allow a lot of people to play this great game for only a few bucks and then decide if they want to spend some money on it. |

How can lifetimers get back at Funcom?
General Discussion « The Secret World 12/12/12 2:44:10 PM
Lifetimer here as well, and nothing to regret about my purchase. I buy stuff regularly from the cash shop so getting a 20% discount now plus $10 every month (in store points) and a special free item is just an even better deal now.
But the best part of this change in business model is that the game will attract lots of new players, and that is very positive for the game.
Best of luck with the changes Joel and everyone else at FC ! |

[Column] General: How Far is Too Far?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/12/12 1:07:21 AM
I have no problems whatsoever with games that use Pay to Win business models. Anyone having issues with companies using this business model should just stay away from them.
It's really that simple. Gaming companies want to make money, and they're free to decide how they want to make money. As customers we get to choose if we want to play by their rules or not. |

Anyone else regret their Lifetime purchase?
General Discussion « The Secret World 12/11/12 12:20:08 AM
Been playing since headstart, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon so no regrets at all.
And honestly. I bought lifetime right away to support this game for offering a fresh modern day setting and horror/mystery atmosphere, among other things, but I still support the game regularly through the cash shop. |

Like every other game out there, it's not going to please everybody, but in my case, I am having a lot of fun. The huge battles to capture/defend bases feel really epic, and well, there are just tons of players to kill lol. Of course it's very likely you'll be dying a lot as well lol. Finish the download and see for yourself if it's right for you.
