Shouldn't this game be taken off the list? It doesn't exist anymore, and even if some fans set up a server of their own it is no longer an official game and has no purpose being here. I seem to remember other games that went belly up were taken off of the site... |

I don't think k2 is terrible and I'll point out that, like most "free" games, the money you spend in the cash shop is about the same or cheaper than the cost of a recurring online subscription to a pay-per-month game. The only cash shop items that significantly affect gameplay can be bought with in-game currency as well, so it's never necessary to actually spend money on this game. I myself have spent about $40 on this game, and the only advantage I have is that I look cooler than level 1 characters. Also, as far as I know, there are no native peoples in SotNW. There are humanoid creatures, but nothing that could be seen as a representation of American Indians. Anyhow, I started playing this game a few months ago and fell in love with its RPG qualities. This new expansion brings in some big improvements, as well as a few additions that were entirely unnecessary... but now is definitely the time to start playing if you want to try it. Faction wars have started and clans can finally battle each other!

You might find Sword of the New World satisfying. It's free to play, has fast-paced action, and a very unique fighting system that allows you to control multiple characters and level up multiple skills all at once. The graphics are beautiful, but if you can run CoX, you can run this too (I should know because I used to play CoX and my graphics card is practically prehistoric). Now is the time to play because there's a huge expansion coming out before the end of the month! |

It sounds like you're describing Underlight, but that's a very old game. You're right about free games being more roleplay-oriented than commercial releases. Planeshift is a free game, and it has the most dedicated roleplaying community I've seen. If you want to stick with more commercial games, though, I know that City of Heroes has a designated roleplaying sever that can be very rewarding to play on. |
