... and takes it offline for a whole year for a revamp.

Which changes and additions would you expect for a massive comeback?

EA doesn't know how to make MMOs.

Bioware doesn't know how to make MMOs.

I'd expect no change. There is almost nothing redeemable about this game. The best thing they could do would be to repackage it and sell it as a singleplayer RPG with COOP. It would need about 4 years of reworking to be a servicable MMO.

You don't know much about Swtor.

You don't know the current state of Swtor .

The fact that it's the 3rd most popular western MMO proved they know a few things about making an MMO.

If that was true, they wouldn't have fired 75% of their dev staff, scrambled to go FTP, and wouldn't be working with such a small crew that they can't even add new classes to the game because of the "technical challenges".

Absolutely no sources say its the third most popular MMO, but plenty show how far the population as buckled.

You keep living in 2012, the rest will continue to enjoy this mmorpg.  While you live in 2012 I recommend you get caught up to the current game in 2014.  Head on over and read all the updates, added content, improvements and future content they will be releasing with that small crew .  It's ok you lost your little crusade.  Sorry to break it to you Swtor is doing great and they have made a recovery like no other mmorpg could do.  You living in 2012 won't change that.

You are a poster child for propaganda. There are no sales numbers or evidence that supports what you claim. I'm sorry, but the constantly merging low pop servers speak against you.

Constantly merging servers? There was one server merge in 2012 ( I think they made in in 2 steps) and then they closed Oceanic servers in  May 2013. I am not aware of any other mergers and actually play this game.

Having long load screens as well and not related to Cyrodil. It's not like yesterday, but at least 15 - 30 second.

HeroEngine doesn't come with the ability to do housing...  so that one's wrong.

Wrong :) SWTOR is adding housing in in summer.. Housing in ESO is the most natural thing to add...

The chat and group wheel sucks too.....Why in Gods name cant you just right click on players like every other mmo ?

+1

I am going to sub until I reach to 50. I don't play it much, probably not more that 10 hour a week so it's going to take me a while. I don't see myself playing beyond that though. I hate PvP. I play for the story.

Love:

World - graphics, environments, weather

Exploration

Quests are good, though I wish it was presented better.

Hate:

Combat

Simplistic UI

not being able to use map cursor

No minimap, though I got Add-on...

SWTOR.

The most fun I had playing duo with friend. Especially if one of you chooses light side and other dark side. Quest  givers recognize that you play in group. Most of the flashpoints you can duo and heroic 4 as well.

TSW is OK, but can be frustrating. Got to really do a lot of researches about combat, all these synergies etc. And if you like zombies, and I mean a lot of them you should be fine.

Yes but the story overall in TSW is vastly superior to the boiler plate stories in SWTOR which are so predictable you will laugh at certain "tragic" points... I mean.... we're talking Anakin Skywalker and Padme in Star Wars Episode 2 bad...

That's a matter of opinion. I found that not being able to participate in TSW in well quest giver monologue was a big thing for me. Also, I got sort of tired of having to google quests in TSW, at least some of them. A lot of quests in TSW are also using profane lanquage, some might like it, I do not so.

Like I said matter of opinion.

Quests are pretty good in TESO, more comparable to TSW imo than SWTOR as you do not really interacting with quest giver as in SWTOR. I prefer SWTOR questing, the cinematic scenes are dynamic and lips actually sync with text which you definitely can't say about TESO, but I think that TESO did pretty good job despite that. I enjoy quests but absolutely detest UI and combat. Thanks for add-ons, I actually got game only after finding out that I can add: minimap, more then one quest tracker and other add-on that make questing easier. Lack of trade market is a big no for me as well. I see myself playing through 3 factions, but as I do not PvP that will be it. Back full time to SWTOR after that.

After disastrous last beta I made a decision to not get a game, pretty disappointed as I really wanted it to be my second MMO aside of SWTOR to play for a long run (I sub SWTOR and don't intend to stop, but it's nice to have other game to play as alternative). After reading majority of posts which were very positive I caved in and got it. I do not regret it.

So far I did not encounter any major bug (except one really funny I got at level 4, which did not let me do any fishing stating that I cannot fish in werewolf form - which I am almost positive I am not yet) and as OP mentioned the world is absolutely amazing. Yesterday it was raining almost all day in game and it was amazing how the water was gathering on the ground etc. Very nice and immersive.

I still hate character animations though. Zenimax got to work on it, it just plain sucks. Trying not to watch myself while running, it hurts my eyes LOL.

Initially I did not like not being able to interact with quest as in SWTOR, but some of quest are very interesting and you can find some in unexpected areas, like the treasure chest quest in  Stros M'Kai (Izad's Treasure) - fun fun fun.

I do not like UI, but I got bunch of add-ons including minimap /grin which was my biggest complaint, and now if feels much better. I hate to be lost... LOL.

Also, I am not a fan of combat...  very limited imo, I really like to have many options (SWTOR is my favorite here).

Anyway, things that I perceive as minuses of the game are minor considering the immersion and beauty of the world. I wish that Zenimax made LOTRO. But still, they really have to learn how to do animations.

Overall, nice RPG game. Slow to level, so I will probably play it for couple of months, mostly doing explorations and quests, trying to do as little combat as possible LOL. As I do not PvP, I do not see myself to play much longer. But we shall see.

I played Star Wars Galaxies from launch until the release of the game killer known as the NGE, and I for one can say the SWG is NOT the type of housing that should be modeled after. The constant forced loading of both the player city buildings and the items inside said buildings was a constant lag storm for people passing by. If there is a MMO to copy the player housing from it would be either Everquest 2 or Lord of the Rings Online. Everquest 2 method of instanced housing allowed for the game designers to focus more on the game play instead of trying to fix the lag around player cities. the LOTRO Method of Neighborhoods allowed for a physical house to be seen but at the same time keep housing separate from the world. Also with the LOTRO Method you are allowed a lot more customization's especially changing the wallpaper and flower color and design as well as add music to the players house.

I preferred EQ2 housing than LOTRO. I hated that you could place things only in designated places. EQ2 allowed to place everything wherever you wanted, I loved that. Also you could change walls and floor design. I had 10 or 12 houses in EQ2, if not more. In Lotro it was too cumbersome to use in my opinion, but then I did not play Lotro as much as EQ2.

Also how many people are viewing the post many times? How many people did not buy game, but are interested how it change/improve to make a final decision to buy it or now. I am one of them.

Players always complain about servers down :) It's pretty normal to have servers down before launch day, major updates etc. Just relax.

As a stress reliever I am going to post here a post of player reacting to complaints about server going down from SWTOR forum posted long time ago, which was so hilarious I almost died from laughingl

Please do not take it personal and enjoy it....

I don't care. I'm going to go read a book, cook a delicious dinner with fresh ingredients, then maybe go for a walk. It could be down for 2 days and here's how many f**** I'd give: _______. That many. For god's sake, it's a game. Go outside or spend time with your family you lard bodied things. If you can't muster the motivation to do that through the fog of your crippling depression, at least catch up on your Netflix instant queue.

Just once I wish a game company would call you people on your whiny, entitled crap and tell you where you can stick it. Most of you don't even know how this game works. It could be magic for all you know. Don't you understand what a miracle it is that it works at all? You have a screen that works as a window to another world that syncs up with people across the globe simultaneously and you're complaining that it's not perfect? You realize 100 years ago we'd all have been burnt at the stake as witches just for possessing knowledge of this technology? This is one of the most amazing things on the planet and you're upset that it's down for a little bit? Give me a break you spoiled, mouth breathing basement dwellers. Go do something on your cell phone that connects to invisible, wireless networks and lets you communicate with anyone in the world at a moment's notice AND it plays Angry Birds. Oh wait, you probably complain if that's down for more than a few minutes too don't you? You people are all insane.

Yeah, fooled me completely by announcing completely new starship for GSF - Flyable Asteroid, now I am sad, because I really, really  loved the idea LOL. it would be hilariously funny.

http://www.swtor.com/info/news/news-article/20140401

Devs even "leaked" some achievements related to this like:

If you attempt to fly backwards by pressing S for a certain amount of time you will received the achievement "Back that Ast Up."

There is a hidden achievement that if you crash your asteroid ship into another asteroid you get the achievement "fist bump, bro."

Fans went nuts with figuring out even more funny achievements LOL

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=732916

LOL I suck so bad in space combat, that I stopped to play GSF because I pitied the team I was in /grin. Now this new errr "ship" might just be my savior. Cool news.

I got to get this one !!!!! "Back that Ast Up."

Edit. Darn... Got so excited that I completely forgot that it is April 1st.... sigh

But... but.. it's really such a cool idea for those of those of us who are space combat impaired... sigh

I was tempted several times yesterday reading this forum about great launch etc, but every time I was ready to finally give up to temptation and click pre-order button,  I reminded myself how bored I was in beta and that the game could not get my attention for more than 1 h before I logged out too bored to continue.

I will probably get it when the prize of box will go significantly down, not sure even if I will get it. It's just not the game I was looking for. I don't like combat, I don't like UI, animations suck comparing to SWTOR, I hate not having minimap - opening map every 10 s is not my description of fun, and quests after SWTOR are just blah...

I wish the game good luck though. Not everybody have to like it, it looks like many do, and it's great.

Keep it strong TESO fans !!!!!!! The more popular TESO will be, the more other games, including my beloved SWTOR will need to get more attention from DEVs to compete.

Posted on official forum with link to this post, to make sure to give credit to who it is due.
I don't like it. One of the reasons I am not going to play ESO.

Question... Is it really that different in WoW or LOTRO when you're killing 20 green mobs in one area, and then on the next toon killing 20 blue ones down the road? Is that the argument? At least with TOR you have a compelling story to lead you along.

Majority of killing quests in TOR are bonus quests. Lets say you are getting a quest to disable turrets on Balmorra. You are getting a bonus quest when you kill any of protecting enemies (who unfortunately are too stupid to run away from my awesomeness) which gives you additional XP. I welcome these bonuses, as you level faster and most of the time mobs are in your way anyway, unless somebody else took care of them.

Also, in many TOR quest you have an option in dialog if you want to go on killing spree or rather disable or destroy equipment etc. Up to you.

In my opinion almost all quests in TOR are not about kill this or that, they have different purpose, killing is just an added bonus, you can skip if you like to.

This options were one of the reasons why I was always underleveled on my operative and assassin. I was sneaking, avoiding killing (aka forget about bonus quests) and just completing main objectives of the quests.
