I played DaoC from beta and then for 4 years, a shaman, never once used my character as a bot. Why would anyone care if it's a class that is usually botted or not? If you like the class, you should play it :)

Just rolled on it, it's already just as bad. Completely packed, and a slideshow. They probably should have held off on starting everyone in the same area, until people spread out a bit over the next month.

Well, I logged into the newest server just as it opened a little bit ago, and it looks exactly like the OP's screenshot already, within a few minutes. I left the starter area and wandered a bit, and it's just as crowded everywhere i went. I'm not saying they should pull a warhammer with 85 servers or whatever, but it's obvious they need more than 4 or 5 :)

Originally posted by WSIMike Yeah, it's amazing that the games that I got harassed the least in, have been games like Lineage 2 (played for 3 years) and Darkfall, Shadowbane, old UO, etc... The same games where the people you harass are given the freedom and tools to bite back! The same games where "reputation" isn't some in-game coded mechanic of faction. In 3 years of L2, I only got harassed a couple of times, and I likely deserved it one of those times :) By "harassed" I am talking about a higher level player that i have no shot against (or no shot getting away from) continually killing me for no reason. Heck, people left me alone for the most part even when I was red! (from killing gold farmers in the early days)

lol yep!! I was there on day one as well, played a dark elf so my village wasn't as crowded as Talking Island, but it was still very populated over this side of the world. Running to Gludio was a massive challenge! Heck, just getting to the swamps outside the town was a massive challenge! So much fun back then though. So much damn fun. I became a 'farmer killer'... er... I hunted gold farmers :) I loved it!! When attacked they would shout: "PK PK! DIE USA DOG!" I don't know why it amused me so much, since I normally am not into pvp... but here it was so much fun, as was the pve for me and my friends... I'm looking forward to getting back into it.
Edit because at 1:30am I speel gud

I grabbed the game a bit later than most, but I am 70 hours in at the moment and really enjoyed the dark brotherhood line, as well as the thieves line. The game, as a whole, has been entertaining me far beyond my expectations. |

Nice review. I was a big fan of TB way back the Santa Cruz sound card ruled the day (my day, anyway), and have loved their products ever since. |

One of the very few mmorpgs that I am 100% confident about taking a pass on. I wish it and all involved, all the best though!

This isn't good news... for me free time! Between this and Skyrim, I'm going to be spent. I'm already netting 3 hours sleep per night with work and family and Skyrim. Will pick this up too now though :) Thanks. I LOVED Ocarina and TP!

I've played since very ealry alpha and still play today. I absolutely love the game. It's come a long way and Notch is awesome beyond words. The only thing pulling me away from it for the moment is the fact that Skyrim is so incredible. I still find some time to hit up MC though, and I will, like every time before this, return to MC again and again. It's a game with a primal experince that spawns addiction in me :)

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/19/11 3:06:19 PM
I expected to not like the game, based on what I had read about it and seen from videos, etc... I got in and truly disliked it, would never play it again. It's just the polar opposite of the style I love to play. But why would I expect anyone to feel like I do about it? Why would I want it to die? I wish every style of game out there could thrive so that so many varying degrees of style preferences could have something to play that could make them happy. I've been playing mmorpgs since M59 and I never understood when folks who dislike a game, even if I dislike it for the same reasons, wish the game to be gone from existance. As long as there are people enjoying a game, and with this one it's obvious there are tons of people enjoying it, and as long as a game is financially viable for the studio running it, then I am of the school of thought that said game should continue so that it's players can continue to enjoy it. I hated my experince with the game and know that I will not play it. Still though, I thank Bioware for the beta experience and submitted a couple bugs and am happy to have helped in a way. I wish the game all the best and as a gamer I am truly happy that those who prefer this style will have an experience of this caliber to enjoy... and I hope that experience goes on forever, for them.

I'm about 30 hours in now. I've had some of the most epic moments in my gaming life, in this game already. We're talking about some amazing times spent gaming through Infocom on the C64, MUD's, early mmos and sp games like Wizardry, M&M series, everything. Skyrim is one hell of a game, in so many ways. I'm playing a Dunmer magic user / thief. Dual wielding daggers, using archery and magic, being generally sneaky and prefering sneak attacks like backstab, etc... I decided that I would stick this guy out regardless of what becomes of me in game. Early on that decision challenged me as i was met with vampirism and did not realize it until daybreak when I began to weaken. When I figured out what was wrong, i was already nearing stage 1 of the disease. Still very curable at my early stage, but advancing rapidly. As it progresses you begin to weaken more in daylight and need to feed off humans more and more. It can adavance to stage 4 from what i gather, and becomes tougher to cure (requiring a journey and finding the right person/people) the further along it gets. So I choose to stick it out and play it out, even if I didn't find a cure. Luckily for me, I found a way to cure it pretty easily in the eraly stage that I was in. The dungeon crawls have been nothing short of epic and amazing. Most games out there would benefit immensly, just by adopting a design philosephy based on these dungeons. The exploratory nature of them is unmatched in my opinion. The art direction is classic Bethesda, and i love it. Thegame reminds me more of Daggerfall than anything else in the series, and deserves to be at the helm of single player RPG progression in my opinion. The game has some bugs and some annoyances, but they are easily and quickly overshadowed by the best atmospheric style that i have ever experienced in a game. A patch is already in the works, and the modders are already cranking out content even before the tool set launches. We're in good hands here, in my opinion. Anyway, nobody needs another review at this point, and especially not by me :) It's been said way better by way too many people already, so I will just leave it with this one sentence (and a run-on at that) wrap up of my opinion. If you like adventuring and non linear progression, combined with an atmosphere (in both scope and style) that is unmatched in the adventure RPG genre, and you enjoy a virtual world that lives and thrives around you as you play whatever way you want to play, then Sklyrim is likely the best 60 bucks you can spend on an experience of such caliber, taking previous games into account as well as what's on the horizon. Be safe folks, happy adventuring! Sorry for the typos, 2 hours sleep... damn this game!!!

So I just picked up the game yesterday and dug into it in the wee hours of this morning. Just came up for air. Completely agree with the reviewer here. This game is beyond amazing.

I never had anxiety until 2004. 33+ years without even thinking about it really, and then one day, out of the blue, I had a massive panic attack. It frightened me so badly (thought I was having a heart attack) that I quickly had another out of fear of having one. That started a 2 year chain reaction that led to agoraphobia and multiple panic attacks daily, sometimes up to 15+ per day. I began to live with 24/7 anxiety that disrupted my entire life for a couple of years I started online gaming with MUDs in the early 90's and moved right into mmorpgs with M59 and then UO, on to EQ and AC1 after that, and so on up til today. So yes, my experience with anxiety included my online multiplayer gaming. I work a lot these days, so don't get to play nearly as much as i use to, although I do still play at least a little bit daily. Working 2nd shift makes timing a bit tough for me, so I probably am not of much use as far as hooking up in a game or anything, but I wanted to drop in and say hi, wish you the best and send some positive thoughts your way. I have been there and it sucks royally, but there is hope. If you ever feel the mood to chat, you can always hit me up via pm here. If not, that's cool too. Stay cool and all the best to you.

AC1 circa 1999 - 2000 remains one of my all time favorite mmorpg experiences, due to the dev team, the game mechanics and world, the community both in and out of game, etc... It was the perfect blend of so much awesomeness. The first big patch, Sudden Season, was amazing. Logging in to find snow covering the ground, Frore, Hoary's, what a rush. I would set out exploring and not come up for air for 8 - 10 hours, and just be in awe of this amazing world. Back when games where made out of the love for gaming, and not just a quick buck. I would take original AC back in a heartbeat, over anything out there currently or coming in the next couple of years.

Otherland seems a AWESOME mmo and totally new approach to genre!

^ Those articles make it sound too good to be true, for lack of a better phrase. Not saying it can't happen, but that's a LOT of dream to turn into reality in this genre... I hope they prove me wrong though :) It looks awesome to me.

General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 10/30/11 1:53:43 PM
Selbina is probably the most populated. Besaid has a large amount of english speaking players, and Lindblum also felt pretty well populated a few weeks back. With that said, Ul'Dah is where the people seem to hang out, so anywhere else is likely to feel barren. It's pretty easy to level to 10. The learning curve is fairly steep as the game really does everything different and there's a few long cutscenes in the opening mission line if you do that. It's not that hard to get to each other, but it's not instant either... I would probably start together if possible, if it were me, just out of the longing to play together sooner. With that said, i traveled to all 3 starting areas within the first 10 levels, so it's not impossible, just takes a little while and while learning the game it could seem even longer. With the ability to be a a part of multiple linkshells, I would say it's good to join up with some right off the bat and start getting to know some folks. You'll likely have quite a few questions in thebeginning, even if you've played tons of mmo's and even XI, so it's nice to have some folks whose brains you can pick while learning :) But if you don't conect with anyone for a LS right away, i wouldn't sweat that either, while nice it is definitely not a 'must have' during the first 20 levels or so... How was that for saying a bunch of stuff without actually telling you anything at all? LOL Sorry about that. i ramble a lot.
