Originally posted by Chrisbox HA! Saying that they will have an expansion "someday" isn't an announcement of an expansion. We've always known GW2 would eventually have an expansion. We knew that before the game even came out. “Expansions are definitely something that we’ll potentially look at in the future, but we don’t have a timetable on it,” - Colin Johanson. Instead of discussing the merits of your theory that all of GW2's profits are being funneled to Carbine studios, you choose to chase a rabbit off topic. Please explain how you can prove that WildStar (which began development 2 years before GW2 did) is somehow taking all of Guild Wars 2's profits (which is still fully staffed).? |

Originally posted by Chrisbox ArenaNet has not announced any expansions for Guild Wars 2 yet. ArenaNet is still fully staffed with Guild Wars 2 developers. If all of Guild Wars 2 'profits' are somehow being funneled into Carbine Studios, how are they paying all of the Guild Wars 2 devs? |

Originally posted by Chrisbox You did zero research. Carbine was formed in 2005 and became a part of NCSoft in 2007. WildStar began development 2 years before Guild Wars 2 did http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ncsoft-unveils-carbine-studios/017482/ |

Smedley: if they want linear and coddled then they can play a lot of other games
General Discussion « EverQuest Next 6/18/13 8:28:57 PM
Sounds like Smed is simply quoting out of the 'how to get attention' manual. Until he can show anything to prove what he's saying, ti's all pretty meaningless.

Originally posted by bcbully How is this even remotely possible since they are simply running their game on 2 Alienware computers in the Alienware booth. I can understand if WildStar was actually putting together a presentation and laid an egg. To think that the game will sink because of a set up to let new people try the game (considering the thousands that have played the same build before)? Remember, it wasn't Carbine that was pulling convention footage off YouTube. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and you can't seriously suggest that 2 Alienware laptop demos are goning to derail the game, can you? |

Obviously the author accomplished what he wanted to, with the inflammatory article title. I had expected a genuine critique of the gameplay elements but instead was met with a diatribe about not being able to rebind keys on a public demo. In addition, complaining about no new e3 reveals. While I had been critical of the article, some of the commenters were quite harsh. It was refreshing to see Troy "Aether" Hewitt (WildStar community lead) step in and try to calm the situation: Hello friends! Troy "Aether" Hewitt here to clear some things up. First, we as a team thrive on critical feedback. From what we read, there was a lot we git, and more that needs further evaluation to see if we understand where the author comes from. Second, the WildStar E3 demo was custom tailored for folks who might not have had a chance to get their hands on WildStar. That could have been made more clear. |

Anybody who's ever taken a shower has had an idea. The question is what happens after you dry off. Smed has said some very impressive things, but I'm witholding all judgement until I see proof that they can pull any of this off.

Reticule VS Tab target - your thoughts?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/03/13 5:52:03 AM
I'm not a fan of losing control of my camera just to attack something. I also disable 'smart camera' in games as well, since often strategic play involves watching your back while performing an action with your character. Camera targeting isn't more difficult, it's just annoying.

[Column] General: MMORPG’s Most Wanted MMOs of 2013
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/31/13 8:25:03 AM
Well Bill, I'm glad to see that you admit that the first two are a tie for you. I don't think you're alone on that one! WildStar has really grabbed my attention, and I admit that EQNext has been off my radar. I'll have to look more into that one now.

Game fails even harder, did not think it was possible.
General Discussion « Dragon's Prophet 5/30/13 7:04:21 PM
They announced on twitter that you have to uninstall the beta client. I did, and had no issues installing. It's strange but doesn't mean the game fails. If it fails, this won't be the reason.

How seperated will the content of different paths be?
General Discussion « WildStar 5/26/13 6:38:55 PM
Not instanced, and teamwork is encouraged. Paths will all work together. They call it "crossing paths" which means that say, an Explorer opens up a new underground cavern. He can bring his buddies in and within it a Soldier may find a Holdout, or a Scientist may unlock new unique lore or a Settler may find a quest. The game is built to encourage diversity and working together. |

I don't know about you, but I prefer the Scarlet Blade ads over the Eden Eternal llama!
General Gaming « General Discussion 5/26/13 7:37:25 AM
I agree with the OP. The bird and the Llama are buck naked. At least the SB models had clothes.

Here are the issues I have with personal story: 1. When you finish it, well - it's finished. I honestly can't remember much about mine except that I didn't enjoy it much after Traherne joined the picture. This was months ago and unless there is an expansion, I feel like I beat the game already. Sure, I could get better gear but why? Nobody is running a damage meter and I'm already a fricken killing machine. (Warriors FTW). 2. As you level up, the next steps are way too spread out. At higher levels, the next steps are sometimes 5 levels above you and you have to grind your way up to do the next one - even though the danger is imminent and the story says they need you right away. "Yeah, I know that there is a giant dragon attacking, but uh, I need to go help some Hylek defend their food supply first and clear weeds out of a farmer's field." 3. The culmination of a solo story ending in a forced dungeon ... terrible design choice. Don't get me wrong, I had no trouble getting people to run story mode with me. I was able to complete the dungeon right away. Even worse, the story elements that begin to show up in the final dungeon only make sense for a player that completed all of the other dungeons (which many players do not). Personal story should be 'personal'. It's solo content, so they should have left it solo. I love GW2 and still play it, but as far as I'm concerned, Personal Story is one of the weakest elements of the game. |

WildStar: Payment Model is a 'Hybrid' Model

Be careful, Troy Hewett said that despite of what we heard, they haven't made any announcements. This is still subject to change so nobody should dig in quite yet.
