One more piece of garbage from FAILCOM

Extremely high density of nerds, pimples and ugly faces :(

I think the last part of that is the important part in this.  Finishing.  MMO are not finished.  There is satisfaction in beating a game that can not be found in an MMO.  MMO's is always about being better.  For some that is pvp and skill, other items, other doing content....it all depends, but it is not about beating it is about being better.

I never said it wasn't. I just meant to say that for me, (eventough others might have a different opinion and I have to respect it) WoW doesn't currently give me so much fun at all, specialy if I compare the experience with some other recent computer games.

I've played WoW for some years. Now when I look back its something like, "' 've been there, done that, not fun anymore".

I had fun some of the 1rst mmorpgs I played like Lineage 1, Legend of Mir,Asheron's Call, etc, but now I would never return and play them again, even if they had hundreds of updates and new content.

I think WoW is at that stage...

From the lasted posts about WoW, it seems the writers are very new to the game.

I am so glad I do not play WOW. What you have been describing sounds like a mental illness where you "have" to have certain things because they are "epic". It is like people who are obsessed by collecting things...

A game should be fun to play, once it turns into trying to get a toon to level 80 then it is no longer fun. What do you do when your toon is level 80? What do you do when you have the most epic items? You realise that those things are actually meaningless and you have wasted your time.

Seriously go do some useful, helpful to others or try to have some fun at least ...

Lol I thought the exact same thing :)

Lol, he feels satisfied because he got a red gragon? lol

I've opened my email link to read this post and I look at the background pictures of mmorpg.com and I see a Dragon Age: Origins pictures. Then... my eyes look left again and I see the pictures of a human warlock and its pet...

And I think to myself, WoWis fken old! Why waste any more time and money with this game?

When I compare it to Dragon Age and all the fun I got playing and finishing it... All I can say is bye bye WoW, you are old news.

Lol!

MMorpg.com announced ages ago the dx10 thing and it will only be availiable now???

I see the sheeps keep feeding money to Failcom's pockets WTG!

I think everyone could see this coming...

A company that defrauds costumer's expectations, selling them a unfinished product (1 million copies sold, they say...), charges them with monthly fees, feeding them with promisses of future great adventures, and other cheap talks...

Trying to sell their costumers an expansion to solve them all their problems and fulfill their dreams... (we all know the buggs and lack of content will still be there)

I just wonder why some people still pay them a monthly fee... are they just kids? are they addicted? don't they feel cheated?

Of course this game as no future (I already said it before in 07/10/2007 here: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/1505908#1505908 , when the game was still in development, and everyone flamed me for making my judgements public) and after all this mess, neither the biggest Producer or Game Director can undo the lack of credibility they managed to achieve.

Wow the ignorance is never ending when comes to bots and lamers that make excuses for them. All i have to say is BS to ANY excuse.Yada yada my girlfriend needs time i need time my dog needs time i have a real life,ya ya whatever. They talk about success, well you can have every bit of success ANY other player can have by playing at your own pace.If ANYTHING you do is outside of the game design then you are NOT playing the game period,no matter what excuses you make up.

I hope that made straight forward sense because really it takes an IQ of about 15 to grasp the concept that NOT playing the design is just that...NOT playing,I have yet to see in all my life ONE single game that puts any time limits on what you can do in there game, there is no race for anything. These games are ALL setup as CASUAL, as you can do anything you want in a game using your own standards and time frame. There is nobody making or forcing you to do anything any other way.Making excuses based on time frames is utter nonsense, they do not exist in any game.

Now onto the bots not being much of a problem, that is a blatant lie.Items in SIlkroad are of ridiculous cost.I am really surprised that bots were not mentioned as game breaking economy wreckers. They do just that by botting huge amounts of gold these RMT re sell the gold at super cheap prices, witch in turn allows the lamers to buy top of the line gear for the game. This is a PVP game so having the best gear in game is a huge advantage. Then once the RMT realizes the lamers who buy gold will pay unreal high prices they start jacking them up even higher for the next one.The whole economy starts jacking way out of proportion ruining the game for all the legit players. You can show support for Silkroad buy purchasing there items ,but you will never beat the cost of buying from the RMT.

What is even worse is that being a F2P game ,they can never get rid of the botters. They can get banned and come right back in 1 minute with a brand new player.Besides that, they have hundreds of already leveled up bots that they can easily move in place of a banned one.

There is another part to botting that makes PVP especially bad. They can be setup to auto do things during battle witch is instantly done ,a lot faster than any human can do it manually. This once again gives an unfair advantage over the legit players.

I feel so sad that your "IQ of about 15" wasn't enough for you to understand the real issue and the main idea I was trying to transmit.

Whats all the Fuzz about bots? Bots are Friend!

Until players and developers understand that the current use of bots is important and needed in some or almost all MMORPGs, all players that want to have a normal and prosper life will have to avoid playing them or will play them illegally(using bots, buying gold, etc).

Today's mmorpgs are not made for persons that want to have success in their family (girls!) life, their jobs, and their academic career. Its impossible for someone with such responsabilities to have success in such a game. The worst fenomena is that those who try to acomplish,  it will get addicted and will feel difficulties to stop playing a game they payed for some months and not achieving their goals. They will also have to leave some friends they made while playing.

Why they keep telling you: "you will own the land", "you will be a king", "you will leave your mark in history", "you will get a distinct and uber weapon or armor", "you will have powerful skills", "you will have a flying mount" and they for get to tell you that you must play 6 hours per day, can't have commitments or time schedules, etc?

Its a social fenoma I know, but until some "gold finger" solves this issue, MMORPGs will be full of addicted, no life players, frustrated both in real life and in game context where their world will turn around a game.

Some might say its impossible to achieve a solution for this issue, some will say that there is no issue and some that some games overcame this issue. I think there is a solution, a complex one... but this is the wrong topic to talk about it... and who am I to talk about it?

They dont get discounted bread and milk etc lol its all relative.  So it simple terms for example if a loaf of bread costs you £1 in the uk and $1 in the us its not cheaper in fact due to corruncy rates it would cost the american twice as much to by is loaf of bread if he was charged £1.

What ? Did you quit school too early? Don't know what currency exchange is? Don't know the price of stuff changes from Country to Country in Europe even if they have the same currency?

Like I said some months before, this game has no future, and one more proof of that is how their finnantial/sales staff is so junior and immature to the point of relasing this information in this way.

Ok lets start over i was trying to point out that the arguement over subscription prices is pointless i mean yes it would be cheaper for me to pay in dolla's but does that mean that Funcom shoud charge americans 18/19 dollas per month? I was trying to point out that 15 dolla's to someone who lives and works in america is the same as 15 pounds to someone who lives and works in the UK now dont go saying but if you convert that 15 pounds into dollas i get double because thats the point someone in the US cant do that!

I am Sorry Kelador, I didn't want to be rude. But I understand that people outside Europe think that because we have the same currency we all share the same economic situation. That is wrong. In Europe there are countries where the minimum wage(salary) is 300 Eur and some other countryes there minimum wage is 2000 Eur. For example, Inside the EU 1 beer in one Country migh cost 0.5 Eur and in another it might cost 2.0 Eur.

For the average person, 15 Eur for a game monthly fee is not too much, since there are other games with similar fees.

But what I think is wrong and will not be well accepted is the difference beteen the 2 prices, since the monthly fee is an electronic service not a material good , is not even subject of importation fees even if they didn't base their services here in the EU.

If they have higher costs to supply their services here, there  were a lot of other ways to solve this question, but thei did it the worst way....

I have a lot of experience with MMORPG's and while bots and private servers are fine for discussion, encouraging their use, or saying you use them is not. This site frowns upon people encouraging use of private servers and bots as do players of these games as well. For example, plenty of people post complaining about the bot situation on Lineage2, but nobody posts saying they use bots and its great etc.

However I still stand by the fact you cannot dismiss games out of hand because they are not the "Latest and Greatest." While I don't doubt Aoin will be a good game, it doesn't mean every other game will fail. Age of Conan and The Chronicles of spellborn are games that revolutionise the general MMORPG playstyle by using FPS style controls. WAR is based on a strong franchise and is being recognised by many as the PvP worlds answer to WoW.

You just seem to dismiss a large number of games and seem to think that because they don't have a huge backing they should close down. A lot of games on your list are stiull turning a large profit and have large playerbases supporting the game. AutoAssault closed because the playersbase was slo low it wasn't profitable. If other games are running and turning a profit, then there is no reason why they should close.

Please Atomicide I ask you to change your flaming childish speech.

1st of all I want you to stop acusing me of encouraging other people to use bots use private servers etc. That subject was and is off of this topic and you are too young and inexperienced to deal with it. You started using those acusations in a public place and off topic after wasting your time searching the forums for my last posts along with the intention of altering and degrading my image towards other people. That is wrong, and its a very poor and under-educated way of argumenting your opinion.

2nd You are not a moderator and your post count doesnt give you the power of being rude and arrogant to other persons and to decide what should or should not be discussed on mmorpg.com

3rd I talked about Bots, hacks etc in the post topic "General: MMOWTF: Lax on the HaXzors " and I said :

"MMM.... this post has an incomplete way of dealing with the subject, in my opinion. Cheating has always been around in mmorpgs. I think that whenever you think about competition in computer games, the big C word comes around. A mmorpg is by definition a BASIC type of entertainment, where personal skills and intelligence won’t make you improve your "status" or "score" in that type of game. Instead and unfortunately, your "score" and "status" is measured by the TIME your spend in game. That notion of TIME, leads to the creation of the term GRIND. That’s when Cheats can save you from suffering. Isn't it great to wake up after a good night sleep, turn on your monitor and discover that your BOT leveled your char 5 levels, got you a full bag of craft materials and a pile of gold? Yes it is.

Let’s be honest, most of the players who play a subscription mmorpg, have a real life job. Its allways hard for children to convince their parents to pay for a subscription mmorpg that will most surely degrade their real life performance specicaly in school, fammily, etc.

I was hoping to find problematic  issues like BOTs, CSH (client side hacking), PE's (Packet Emulators), CE's (Cheat Engines), HS (hack shields) and  AHB (anti-hack bypassing) presented in the context of the actual& modern MMOs.  It might be interesting also to reflect on the impact of the increasing use of hacking&cheating by players and its relation to the exponential increase of  MMO game products.

Currently its observable that unlike a few years ago, some MMO's see their subscriptions increase when new bots and tools appear and decrease when those tools are disabled.

What will the future reserve? Will future game be more oriented to automation like Granado Espada, where you can leave your party of characters leveling in your hunting spot while you go eat your dinner or see an episode of your favourite TV show?

Only time will tell... "

4rd I think it could have been realy interesting to develop this subject even more, regarding the possible future mmorpg growth correction and the its relations with the upcoming titles and the current state of the art in what is now called the 9th Art, the online computer games. But unfortunatly childish attitudes and arrogance and lack of respect can realy castrate the will to continue.

I think the is no room for class B mmorpgs today. Rank AAA MMorpg titles monthly fees are very low compared to the new "free to play&Buy items" titles. Most of the current released MMorpgs should follow AA example before it too late.

Games that sould follow AA example and quit for good:

Anarchy Online
ArchLord
Asheron's Call
City of Heroes
City of Villains
Dark Age of Camelot
Dark and Light
EVE Online
Everquest
Everquest II
Face of Mankind
Horizons
Knight Online
Lineage II (maybe not, but ... most people are leaving...)
MapleStory
The Matrix Online
Phantasy Star Universe
Planetside
RF Online
Ragnarok Online
Roma Victor
The Saga of Ryzom
Second Life (Is it realy a mmorpg? I dont see a bright future for this one, but maybe it won't close the business right now but wont last more than a year or 2 (different reasons too extensive to write here))
Shadowbane
Star Wars Galaxies
Ultima Online

Games in Development that are currently obsolete or without a bright future:

Age of Conan
The Chronicles of Spellborn
Fury
Gods and Heroes
Hero's Journey
Pirates of the Burning Sea

So from this, I assume you are either a fan of free games, or World of Warcraft. Is there any actual factual evidence why you think these games should be pulled or is it based on your opinion? I would be inclined to say that you don't like and havent played almost all those games seeing as your current posts on this site just show you complaining about Lineage2 and AutoAssault, encouraging people to play Private servers, speaking about how you used bots on Lineage2, or asking for Dungeon Runners keys.

Almost all the games on your list are currently well populated and enjoyed by a lot of players, just because you don't like them, it doesn't make them terrible games. This is quite possibly one of the most stupid posts Ive ever read on this site.

Hi m8, thanks for your reply. I am also glad about the hard study you did reading all my last posts...

But you get it all wrong! Maybe you have a problem understanding english, or maybe my english isnt good enough? I am sorry if thats the case).

I  think Lineage2 was a great game, it had its golden moments, it as a real AAA title. But the main mechanics stood still in time and the main engine is now quite old (Unreal Engine Warfare) like the "Chronicles of Spellborn" engine, it wont stand for long after AION opens to public.

As oposed to what you said I am not a fan of free games, I even said class B free games don't stand a chance with the low monthly fees of major AAA Morpg subscription games. One exception is SUN, wich is a great game but I think unfortunatly it might not reach the EU or US market. I am not a fan of WoW but I must say its a great game and it will last for at least more 3 to 5 years.

I find it hard for you to understand some more sensible topics like bots and private servers, cheats, hacks due to your lack of experience in Morpgs maybe, but they are very important subjects. Sword of new world is a game that tryed to solve some of those problems (I think it failed and that is not a game with bright future) due to its importance.

I currently don't play any MMorpg because I don't have time to play, but I tested most of these games and collected  info about them on my free time.

PS - Thanks for reminding me of Dungeon Runners, I think that game has no future either. Played it as a beta player thanks to a mmorpg.com invitation you refered and tested the full membership service for 1 month.
