Star Wars: The Old Republic: Game Update 1.2 – Legacy Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/10/12 1:26:59 PM
Is it just me or does the legacy system sound reallly... boring. I mean it is mostly fluff, race/class combos which does not affect anything functional, just looks and emotes. Skills on 20 min timer and only with companion out which makes it useless in PvP. A complete waste if you ask me. New warzone and op. does sound interesting and also the new PvP ranking system, but I would have preferred them fixing Illum instead. But atleast these three will add something useful to the game, unlike the legacy system which seems useless to me.

I can't believe how bad it is
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/10/12 6:13:14 AM
Originally posted by Damon I agree with most of what you say but the problem is that once you finish your class story line and hit lvl 50 the game dies. The high level raid content is paper thin and Illum is a ghost town which leaves only repeating Flash Points and instanced PvP Warzones for gear and to me that is just plain dull. Really can't understand what a long time subscriber would do in this game. Except playing alts I guess but even then, beside the class story lines, you will be repeating alot of quests so after the third or fourth reroll I can imagine it getting really boring. EA/Bioware need to wake up and realise that they need to add some longetivity to this game because having rerolling alts as the only viable long therm playabibility is just not enough. |

Who is waiting to see all the flaming in the forums when gw2 is released?
General Gaming « General Discussion 4/10/12 3:22:05 AM
Always found it amusing that the whiners complaining about other whiners are constantly making these posts to goad the whiners, which they whine about, to respond and whine. I believe it is called fanning the flames... |

OMG !!! - Is anyone still running this website or is it just an Ad base?

I know that in US you hold private corporations sacred but most other countries hold freedom of speech even more sacred. Once you go down the road of saying that freedom of speech is a right but not in this place and that place and only in some cases, then you are on a slippery slope. |

Originally posted by Admin I always found this angle amusing. You have free speech but not in private property. So seeing as in countries like US where private corporations own almost everything then there is no real free speech is there? Free speech should be absolute, either you have it or you dont. Either you can tell your mind or you cant. |

Ok, alot of answers about what will be in the game some time in the future and I never buy an MMORPG based on something that will be in the game later. I only care what will be in the game at launch and I heard PvP battlegrounds is out and I have not heard anything about territory control being in at launch either. So I am basically asking what will be in the game at launch, because that is what I will be paying for. PvP servers yes but without territory control and/or rewards I dont see much point in it. FFA PvP needs to have a purpose, like Eve territory control or alike, otherwise it will turn into a ghost town like SW:TOR open world PvP which also has absolutely no point or purpose. |

|
I am contemplating buying this game but the know I hear of it, the more it sounds like this game is almost all PvE. I mean does it have any PvP content beside random open world PvP for no purpose? |

Mythic did a better job with WAR than they did with SWTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/08/12 12:41:26 PM
I agree. The PvP was much better, the classes more interesting and had cool things like PQs and defensive targets. SW:TOR is just bland and boring and would barely be playable without the single player storylines and of course the SW setting. |

fanboyism is actually making me dislike the game
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/08/12 12:37:28 PM
Originally posted by Eir_S So let me get this straight. Fanboys fanatically defend games because no one can put up a good argument? Wow, that has to be one of the most far fetched explanations of fanboyism I have ever heard. Good one! |

Originally posted by Nadya3 He is the one talking about what is in the game where as you are talking about things not even in the game yet. So he has alot more credibility than you, that is for sure. |

Originally posted by Nadya3 Oh please. If I don't like a game, or anything for that matter, I have every right to say so. It is fanboys who have zero credibility because they are incapable to of having any opinions of their own. Nice little world you have created for your self though. "they hate anyone who speaks positively or like the game" LOL |
|
|
"I think, therefore I am." Fanboys and alike cannot think for themselves and can only follow others so this "negativism" you are talking about is simply free thinking individuals who are not afraid to speak up.

Originally posted by Jakdstripper True. If Eve was all low and null sec then it would not have 1/10 of the subscriber base it currently has. Gotta love the irony in that... |

Originally posted by DarkPony It is not a myth. There is a huge difference between someone who has billions of ISK and 100 million skillpoints compared to someone who has millions of ISK and only 5 million skillpoints. HUGE! That does not mean that the latter one cannot do stuff but to believe that they are on equal footing is just delusional. |

Death penalty will need to be in such a way that you "lose" about 15 minutes of game play, no more, no less. Be it removing death penalties or getting back into combat. There has to be something that gives you the sense of loss and reward, if you win or lose. So games like Eve is way over the top because it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to weeks of game play to recouperate a death. WoW, WAR, AoC, SW:TOR and all the other ThemeParks are way too small as the death penalty is losing a couple of minutes, if even that, which makes losing and winning, meaningless. |
|
|
So questing is crap, this is clear. But what is actually good in this game? PvP seems lackluster and I haven't heard much about the end game yet. So can anyone sell me on this game? Why should I get it, besides the nice GFX and interesting combat system (I can have those in a single player game)? |

The game lacks severly in the PvP area but the PvE is pretty good. However I can't see myself playing this more than a couple of months. |

New York State Bans Sex Offenders From Online Gaming
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 4/06/12 10:31:43 AM
Originally posted by Slampig This is just plain ignorant to believe that anyone is defending sex offenders. What we, or atleast me, would be defending is the right to keep Internet "Free". So things like this and related, like SOPA, is trying to limit access to Internet either directly or indirectly. So it starts with sex offenders now, then it will move to any kind of offender (petty crime, you name it) and then to political views and ideas and so on. In any case this is fundamentally wrong in the sense that accessing information on internet, which is otherwise publicably accessable, should not be restricted. If some are concerned that it is being used for illegal actions then it is those illegal actions that needs to be curtailed and not accessing of information. This whole pre-emptive legal action is just nonsense because it goes completely against presumption of innocence. Yes, even offenders with prior convictions need to have this right. |

Long-term game or just another firecracker?
General Discussion « The Secret World 4/06/12 8:53:19 AM
Originally posted by Beowulfsam Problem is that ThemePark developers have the same mindset when they create PvP content, i.e. that they need to develop it rather than creating an environment where the players do.
