Is it just me or does the legacy system sound reallly... boring. I mean it is mostly fluff, race/class combos which does not affect anything functional, just looks and emotes. Skills on 20 min timer and only with companion out which makes it useless in PvP. A complete waste if you ask me.

New warzone and op. does sound interesting and also the new PvP ranking system, but I would have preferred them fixing Illum instead. But atleast these three will add something useful to the game, unlike the legacy system which seems useless to me.

Well, I am bored with the game for different reasons, but I probably have the same sense of "blah" when it comes to this game.  The content progression was too fast and easy, when playing casually, and then the Hard Mode versions of the Flashpoints are still ridiculously easy.  A couple of friends and I ran one with just 3 of us the other day, and it was just so boring and easy I haven't logged in since.  Smashing the spacebar to get through the Flashpoint dialogue, which I've heard too many times already, is tedious in and of itself.  There just isn't enough Flashpoints or other content in the game.  As polished as the game really is, it's missing more than I thought it would be.  Still, the game was fun and new up to that point.  The upcoming patch is too little to interest me in resubscribing.  I'm sure the game will have some longtime subscribers, though.  Espeically with those who are new to the genre and haven't "been there, done that" as much.

I agree with most of what you say but the problem is that once you finish your class story line and hit lvl 50 the game dies. The high level raid content is paper thin and Illum is a ghost town which leaves only repeating Flash Points and instanced PvP Warzones for gear and to me that is just plain dull.

Really can't understand what a long time subscriber would do in this game. Except playing alts I guess but even then, beside the class story lines, you will be repeating alot of quests so after the third or fourth reroll I can imagine it getting really boring.

EA/Bioware need to wake up and realise that they need to add some longetivity to this game because having rerolling alts as the only viable long therm playabibility is just not enough.

Always found it amusing that the whiners complaining about other whiners are constantly making these posts to goad the whiners, which they whine about, to respond and whine.

I believe it is called fanning the flames...

Hey guys,

Just popping in to tell you that you can refer all Game List information to Jim Moreno.  He's culling through the list from A-Z and adding new games as we get them.  Please be patient, as it's not exactly a super-quick undertaking when the list is 600+ titles now.

Thanks!

What about all the locking of threads that criticize advertiser's products and refering them back under one gnereic "catch All" sticky?

I would ask if this site is run from America or somewhere else - I am from the UK and we have issues over Free Speech here whereas I still think the US has the First Amendment ??? (please feel free to correct me if I have the Admendment selection incorrect)

Free speech applies only in a public place.  When you are using this website you are in a private space.  I encourage you to walk into your neighborhood McDonalds and start spouting off political views, hold up signs, etc and see how long until they escort you off their private property.

While we are bound to uphold your civil rights (like allowing people of all ethnic backgrounds, etc) we do not have to grant you freedom of speech...no more that I have freedom of speech at your dining table.

I always found this angle amusing. You have free speech but not in private property. So seeing as in countries like US where private corporations own almost everything then there is no real free speech is there?

Free speech should be absolute, either you have it or you dont. Either you can tell your mind or you cant.

This is why you see picketers and protesters on sidewalks, parks, etc.  It would be pretty unconstitutional to allow these people to protest inside another persons private space that they own or pay rent for.  Are you saying you would not mind it if I walked into your home and started spouting off my views and the law required me to be able to do that and you could not make me leave?

If you want to express your views online you can make your own website and do so - THAT is freedom of speech as is protected by the constituion.

My home and a public internet forum is not the same, not by a long shot. So obviously going to people's homes, without their consent, should not be allowed.

And freedom of speech is not an exclusive US invention. It is mentioned in the UN declarations of human rights and interestingly it does not say that private corporations are exempt. I know that in US you hold private corporations sacred but most other countries hold freedom of speech even more sacred.

Once you go down the road of saying that freedom of speech is a right but not in this place and that place and only in some cases, then you are on a slippery slope.

Ok, alot of answers about what will be in the game some time in the future and I never buy an MMORPG based on something that will be in the game later. I only care what will be in the game at launch and I heard PvP battlegrounds is out and I have not heard anything about territory control being in at launch either.

So I am basically asking what will be in the game at launch, because that is what I will be paying for. PvP servers yes but without territory control and/or rewards I dont see much point in it. FFA PvP needs to have a purpose, like Eve territory control or alike, otherwise it will turn into a ghost town like SW:TOR open world PvP which also has absolutely no point or purpose.

I am contemplating buying this game but the know I hear of it, the more it sounds like this game is almost all PvE. I mean does it have any PvP content beside random open world PvP for no purpose?

I agree. The PvP was much better, the classes more interesting and had cool things like PQs and defensive targets. SW:TOR is just bland and boring and would barely be playable without the single player storylines and of course the SW setting.

If people could actually put up a good argument, no one would have to defend the game.  But I guess you don't have a problem with all the whiners and trolls.  Too bad for you, don't play the game if you're that one-sided.

Not only that, but the MMORPG community is not even a drop in the bucket of people who will be playing the game.  Miss out on a good game because you read a forum, see if anyone cares.

So let me get this straight. Fanboys fanatically defend games because no one can put up a good argument?

Wow, that has to be one of the most far fetched explanations of fanboyism I have ever heard. Good one!

Lore and story is weak and scarse in Tera. And the game does a bad job to expose it
About the tons of upcoming patches...
the "amazing political system" is already out in Korea and it already failed. Guild A will vote for Guild B in region X and Guild B will vote for Guild A in region Y. That's the "amazing" political system.
World invasions? no info about that except there will be in the future.... FAR future. They barely managed to copy the rifts in Korea a month ago and they were laggy as hell. And they were just simplified rifts copies from RIFT. Like this we will have world invasions by 2014....
There will be NO raiding
And there is and won't be territorial control. Especially guild wars for territorial control. At most there is rated battlegrounds to be choosen as a Vanarch. Guild wars are meaningless.
I lol'ed at the 2%

you have less Credibility than a fake Dollar bill.

why am i a fanboy?  because i like the game?  because im not a bitter hater such yourself?  because i don't join the horde of game Bashers that do nothing else than trying to impose their hatred on everyone else who don't think like them?

i guess i most be a fanboy then!    i can think of many things to call you,  and none of them is nice.

He is the one talking about what is in the game where as you are talking about things not even in the game yet. So he has alot more credibility than you, that is for sure.

the haters dwell in MMO forums,  they are in every single game, talking crap and spewing their poisong day and night.

they have 0 credibility  and their main goal is chase away anyone who shows interest in the game.

they hate anyone who speaks positively or like the game.

this is why i never listen nor believe anyone from this forums.     try the game and judge for yourself.   a MMO should be able providing entertainment.  if it manages to do that,  then it's main goal should be acomplished.

Oh please. If I don't like a game, or anything for that matter, I have every right to say so. It is fanboys who have zero credibility because they are incapable to of having any opinions of their own.

Nice little world you have created for your self though. "they hate anyone who speaks positively or like the game" LOL

"I think, therefore I am."

Fanboys and alike cannot think for themselves and can only follow others so this "negativism" you are talking about is simply free thinking individuals who are not afraid to speak up.

My problem with Eve (and Darkfall) wasn't the learning curve, it was the power curve.  After playing Eve for like two days, it became abundantly clear to me that I would never in a thousand years be able to even think about competing with most of the player base that has been there for a long time and has accumulated insane amounts of wealth and skill.

I would always be some stupid pleb miner or errand boy for some corp and well, that gameplay just doesn't appeal to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love progression in games, but at a certain point it gets ridiculous.  When you can just keep getting more powerful and more powerful over years and years of playing a game, it becomes literally impossible for a new person to catch up.

this combined with the full loot pvp without besically no safe zones is why DF is in the state it's in.

the only reason EvE managed to get those 30/40 thousand subscribers is because it has a huge high safety zone, where people can play without getting constantly harrased by those more powerfull.

hopefully DF 2.0 (if it ever comes out) will address those 2 issues.

True. If Eve was all low and null sec then it would not have 1/10 of the subscriber base it currently has. Gotta love the irony in that...

Takes around a month to get your feet wet in pvp (Factional Warfare is great for this: mainly cheap, expendable ship gangs) and do level 3 missions for some initial steady income in my experience.

After half a year I started roaming around in Wormholes blowing up people with much older chars, exploring in lowsec, demanding ransoms, suicide ganking, baiting pirates, blowing up POSses, doing regular wardecs and infiltrating the target corps with an alt account ... also running away from mercenary corps a lot :)

The initial cash I needed for that was made doing mainly level 4 missions. But after some more months the small time piracy and misschief started to pay for itself and I could focus on what was fun.

It does take some time and being in a corp, even if its a small one, helps A LOT. But the time it takes to become efficient and competitive in T1 frigs and battlecruisers and semi-efficient in battleships is very manageable. Also you can of course buy an older character from the bazaar.

In my impression the whole "I'll never be able to compete" idea is kind of a myth. It DOES take some months though, but the scope of the game and your options really grows along with you.

It is not a myth. There is a huge difference between someone who has billions of ISK and 100 million skillpoints compared to someone who has millions of ISK and only 5 million skillpoints. HUGE!

That does not mean that the latter one cannot do stuff but to believe that they are on equal footing is just delusional.

Death penalty will need to be in such a way that you "lose" about 15 minutes of game play, no more, no less. Be it removing death penalties or getting back into combat. There has to be something that gives you the sense of loss and reward, if you win or lose.

So games like Eve is way over the top because it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to weeks of game play to recouperate a death. WoW, WAR, AoC, SW:TOR and all the other ThemeParks are way too small as the death penalty is losing a couple of minutes, if even that, which makes losing and winning, meaningless.

So questing is crap, this is clear. But what is actually good in this game? PvP seems lackluster and I haven't heard much about the end game yet.

So can anyone sell me on this game? Why should I get it, besides the nice GFX and interesting combat system (I can have those in a single player game)?

I really enjoy this game, but to me what might kill it is it being P2P. With two major contenders coming up like GW2 and TSW, I don't think I'll be paying for this one. Especially when GW2 will be F2P. If it was Free I would deffinately be all over it.  If I'm going to be paying for something, my money is going to have to go to TSW, as I can't afford both. I wish TERA lots of success though.

GW2 wont be F2P it will be Buy to Play with a cash shop.

The game lacks severly in the PvP area but the PvE is pretty good. However I can't see myself playing this more than a couple of months.

Leave it to the crowd at MMORPG.com to defend sex offenders.

You all know EXACTLY who they are targeting by doing these bans, it seems like you all want to debate this just for the sake of debating...

Bleh...

Although the one-eyed snake drawings were pretty funny.

This is just plain ignorant to believe that anyone is defending sex offenders. What we, or atleast me, would be defending is the right to keep Internet "Free". So things like this and related, like SOPA, is trying to limit access to Internet either directly or indirectly.

So it starts with sex offenders now, then it will move to any kind of offender (petty crime, you name it) and then to political views and ideas and so on. In any case this is fundamentally wrong in the sense that accessing information on internet, which is otherwise publicably accessable, should not be restricted. If some are concerned that it is being used for illegal actions then it is those illegal actions that needs to be curtailed and not accessing of information.

This whole pre-emptive legal action is just nonsense because it goes completely against presumption of innocence. Yes, even offenders with prior convictions need to have this right.

Well if the developers would put more thought in pvp I think it would be much easier to create content that is longer lasting. But on average they come up with 2 factions zerg fests or omg 2-3 battle grounds with meaningless grind. I'd rather not comment much on PvE since I'm not an avid PvE-er altho I usually do all the content. All in all, gear grind isn't everything if you can figure out other ways of keeping players happy (at which point MMOs mostly fail).

Problem is that ThemePark developers have the same mindset when they create PvP content, i.e. that they need to develop it rather than creating an environment where the players do. They either dont understand the concept of player created content or dont believe in it.
