Guild Wars 2: 'Guesting' Arriving January 28th
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/17/13 10:23:01 AM
I can't say I'm not dissappointed about not being able to guest on NA servers, but I'm happy that guesting is at least being introduced, so that if my own server is emptier than normal I can hop to a busier server

[General Article] Guild Wars 2: The State of PvP
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/01/12 6:29:32 AM
imo PvP in GW2 has two extremes, and no "happy medium".
sPvP is "too" structured. I'm not a big fan of small scale PvP as there's too much reliance on good strategy and organisation, which I don't mind ocassionally, but it's not really my taste.
WvWvW is slightly closer to my taste, but it's too extreme - there's too much freedom, it's basically one zerg capping, then another one capping, and it lasts a week so you don't really feel like you're having an impact on the score.
they should have a CTF type PvP game with up to 100 players per team and each game lasts an hour. that would be cool |

[Column] Guild Wars 2: The Lost Shores
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/20/12 10:55:03 AM
Wasn't online for much of the weekend, and when I was online for the one time event, I was stuck in Overflow, and my low level (scaled to 80) Ele couldn't hold his own against multiple Karka so I kept dying without getting a res. In the end I gave up So all in all, I can't say I enjoyed the weekend, but I don't feel like I missed all that much anyway. I certainly didn't expect anything as elaborate as the halloween event, which I thoroughly enjoyed even at a low level. I hope next month's event will be on the same scale |

If you believe the Forums then Yes. However, I used to be able to get into Lion's Arch on my Server without being transferred to an overflow. Now every time I go there I'm in an overflow I'm not giving a conclusion one way or the other as my Server may not be an accurate representation. |

[Column] Guild Wars 2: The Halloween Bash
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/04/12 8:29:12 AM
I had only been playing GW2 casually prior to halloween, but during halloween I got hooked as the content was just "that" good.
I'll probably revert back to playing casually until November 15th, then I'll see how good that update is |

Looking forward to doing this event. Hoping that it will renew my enthusiasm for the game

Having not progressed particularly far in GW2 (highest character lvl is only 26) I'm hoping that the new updates, starting with next week's events, will renew my enthusiasm for the game.

LoL tops WoW as most played PC game
General Discussion « League of Legends - Clash of Fates 7/12/12 5:30:30 AM
LoL isn't my type of game, but I can see why it is so popular. As for being a wow-killer though, they're not even in the same genre! |

I fully agree about a player run economy. I remember Runescape's golden age died with the introduction of the grand exchange |

In the 10 years that I've played MMOs I wouldn't say I ever forged any what i would call deep friendships or relationships involving sharing personal stories etc, but I've forged many a good friendship through helping others and sharing game related stories etc. Kind of like the football (soccer for you americans) forums where I forge friendships with people who support the same team and enjoy talking about the comings and goings of all things football. |

I still play Jedi Academy multiplayer against bots when I'm really bored. |

One big catacombs under the entire world

I've always felt that this is something that mmos should try |

I'm not gonna be touching GW1 and I'm even hesitant about pre-ordering before the last beta as part of me just wants to start the game completely fresh. Having said that I do need to see whether the game will perform well enough on my laptop (it should do anyway) and I should at least familiarise myself with the basics |

Has to be SWTOR. With the right concepts and development it could have been good enough to seriously challenge WoW. As it is, though, even Runescape seems more popular than it |

I think Guild Wars 2 has made me realise I don't like large scale anything...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/03/12 5:09:26 AM
As others have said, MMOs are clearly not for you. I'm not a big fan of the small scale PvP that the OP is talking about as you can't really be creative with it (well you can, but not without being yelled at by your team mates). You need to follow a set strategy in order to win. I love the idea of Chaos and "On the fly" style battling as it gives you the leg room to be creative about how you battle while still feeling as though you're contributing to a team effort. I think that one of the things I'm gonna love about GW2 are the combination attacks: the idea of me casting a firewall and seeing my team mate fire arrows through it has already whetted my appetite. |
