Interested in darkfall, where do I buy this game?
General Discussion « Darkfall 3/04/09 12:18:28 AM
I am surprised you haven't googled it by now. Just look at the first letters to see what word it spells, then look at the last letters to see what it spells. -good night |

I think you are right in this statement. Alot of the old accounts are inactive and some have more than two accounts including myself. My hope is that Darkfall gets enough customers to keep the game going. If they get 100k they`ll have more than AoC and 150k will be the same as Lotr.
I wish to play Darkfall, but I don`t panic if I have to wait a month or two. The reason is simple, I know I will play this game for a long time and I don`t have to put up with the messy start. Sure some players will have citys, more skillgain and better armor, but that`s no problem. The softcap on skills will let me be able to catch up fairly quick, I can loot their armor and join a guild with a city or a guild who wants to conquer a city.
Good luck in EVE. It`s an awesome game if you like a space mmo.
There really is no rush to get it, let them beta test it for us then get in when its been patched and a new server opens. I just don't like how it has been handled and how Aventurine really shows how young of a company they are. Can you trust them to manage the game well after they had a horrible launch. I know when the time comes I will be playing this game, I just hope it's around for as long as I want to play it. |

Yea I have been pretty disappointed with Aventurine as well. At this point I think the company has completely failed at launching this game. They have recently gone from failure to failure. Terrible communication, seemingly an inability to stop hacking, they seem much too small to even handle 2-3 servers with 10k per, let alone able to support 100-200k players. I think the game has potential, but if the company managing it is as much of a failure as they currently appear to be it could be a rough ride. I keep telling myself, this is their first game, they are small, they are dedicated to the game so it should get better, once they make some money they will hire more staff and invest more into it. Sadly, I have been following the game for years and almost feel like I owe it to myself to try it out. On a side note: They do have 350K forum members and I did see 6000k+ on the forums earlier today which is pretty good for a company that hasn't advertised much and has just released their first game. |

All out of trial keys, saving one for the OP, @ OP pm me with a valid email and I will set it up. It goes through the Warhammer webpage. If anyone else is looking for a key just ask a friend that has an account. Each active paying account holder has 3 keys to hand out per month that last for 30 days. Just log into your Warhammer account here: https://accounts.eamythic.com/ and click on Recruit-A-Friend. |

I have played many PvP games and specifically tried WAR for its hyped PvP aspects. I just let my account expire mostly because of the lack in PvP quality; it is not what I was anticipating. Basically you have two options for PvP. Scenarios, similar to what WoW offers, and Open/Lake RvR, while the concept is similar to DAoC it "feels" totally different. Scenario PvP If you like scenario style 12 vs 12 PvP etc you will have some fun working your way up through the tiers and many different PVP scenario maps. Unfortunately they can be very unbalanced and a lot of the time you get in with random people and if the other side is even somewhat organized they usually will win. While Mythic/EA has tried to fix the level gap issue, it still doesn't even come close to balancing out the level differences. From my experiences on the server Magnus it seldom was a close fight, maybe 10-15% of the time, it usually was one side dominating the other and pushing them back up to the guards/spawn point. Typically if an organized guild or group of guys got in they would dominate. Not that much fun for a single person just jumping in. I played 90% of my time with a guild and we would win quite a bit but it was generic PvP to me. Open/Lake RvR The "open" RvR doesn't feel all that open since you are basically reduced to a few select zones to combat in if you want to benefit the greater cause. The system in itself is somewhat creative and could work when more people have an idea what is going on. The real reason I am dissatisfied with it is because I was expecting more DAoC-ish combat which it totally isn't. I don't call swapping keeps and BOs PvP; it's more like PvE with a chance PvP encounter. Granted when and if more people get to max level and the servers populate there would be a better chance for PvP in both of these situations. But even if that happens and it does even now on occasion, it still feels very generic and stale to me.
Honestly if you like free feeling, more hardcore PvP I would just wait 5 days and give Darkfall a trial run. If you like playing a role, fitting the part, i.e. (healer, tank, dps) you may very well enjoy WAR. From what I have read PvP in Darkfall should have elements from some of my favorite games like: DAoC, UO, AC and M59. They bumped the release date till later in Feb. but you can trial it in less then a week. Provided they figure it out and get the servers up and are able to support the demand. I have been shocked by how some companies fail in releasing their games; millions have been lost because of it. |

When MMORPGs first came out there was not that great of an interest in them and open betas were open to the public just to get the game tested. Over the last 10 years the MMORPG crowd has dramatically grown in size and it's not hard to find people to beta test your products. It's totally up to the developer who they want to invite into open beta, there is nothing that says it has to be fair and that each person should have an equal chance to get in. Open Beta has been used for marketing as well, to get people in to see how it works and get excited about it. Now with how marketing is ran and website/fansites for games they don't need to market their games nearly as much. Open Beta is quickly becoming a thing of the past, Soon I think there will be closed beta to the select few fanbois and friends of the developers and to get into the game early you will have to preorder like a lot of games do now. Do I agree with it? I don't really care. In fact, I would almost rather wait for the game be released in a stable condition so that I do not get a negative opinion about it because of bugs, lag and lack of content.. etc.. Vangaurd SOH comes to mind.

I tried it but wasn't too impressed when comparing it to pc games. It is real basic, but for a cellphone or something small like a PDA or something I can see it being very good. So if you were going to play on a PC I would deffinetly look for a more graphic and content oriented game. But if all you can play on is a PDA or cell, this is a viable option. |

If you are not on a pvp server and like to level with friends etc pve style this game is one of the best ones out there. There is so much content and lore you will be sucked in for a long time. If you like to pvp and like a balanced pvp system don't waste your time. This game is far from balanced and you will get ganked by twinked out players that locked there exp and got AAs so that by the time they are 17 they really are a 23+ so anyone within 4 levels is toast. It is one of the reasons I no longer play Eq2. I am a casual player and I do not have the time to craft and twink out a char so I can compete in pvp. |

Maybe it's just me... is Fury really "innovative"?
General Discussion « Fury 9/04/07 10:39:50 PM
I have played both and would have to say there is actually very little to compare between Fury and WoW. The game play is totally different: Fury is fast paced class support oriented like GW, play style more like Unreal or Gunz. The lore is totally different: There are no elves/dwarves/cows/orcs, etc all i have seen so far in beta is humans. The look is totally different: Granted this is just beta but this game looks more like GW with some Lineage style movements. In fact there is very little in common to WoW other than it is a video game with some fantasy elements.. if you wanted to be remotely accurate in comparing it to something I would say its a cross between RYL and GW. I have played over 30 mmorpgs, this game is no where near like WoW. There is not a whole lot innovative about it in my mind. |

You might try RYL - Risk Your Life, if you can find the right server and get on at busy times it can be a real fun game. There are different versions, I would recommend - http://www.ryl2.com.my

That would never fly. Like any other monthly subscription you pay a monthly fee for the product/service, typically not for how much of it you use. 720 hours would last me an entire year of gaming. Thats 60 hours a month, approximetly 2 hours a day but since I don't play everyday I can play for 4-5 hours at a time on the weekends. Anyways, that would be ~15$ for a years service for me, and undoubtedly there are many others like this. I can't see how any developer could afford to hold a staff and keep the game updated and supported for that. And don't give me an example of an Asian grindfest F2P game as an example, they don't have much or any support and the updates are far and few inbetween if any. F2P = Poor service at best. I know there are some games that you can buy hours and time for and actually do go by per played basis. A fun thought but hardly feasible for the "Top 10" developers. |

I would imagine that most of these guys that posted have played many more than 3 mmorpgs. Probably as many as you have but they were just following the threads instructions.. which were.. List "Your Personal" Top 3 MMOGS of all time.. apparently you missed that. Edit : Also he said to mention your most anticipated MMOG coming out.

My top 3: 1. DAoC - Best pve/pvp combination I have ever experienced in a game, period. 2. AC - Best solo pvp I ever had. 3. WoW - Not sure why, nothing really stands out, it was easy and new. The pvp was okay.
Anticipating: AoC and WO |

Personally the more I read and hear I am starting to lean towards AoC over WO. I have a lot of friends that think WO will be the next great mmorpg. AoC to me seems like it will offer new cutting edge game play and combat style. Of course it is not in a genre of its own, but it does seem like the devs have really tried to make things different and have tried new things. With WO it seems like they have taken what has worked in the more modern mmorpgs and are trying to implement them into one game. Mythic has an excellent team. This is totally a hype call though, I have not beta'd etiher of these. My HYPE, they both will do good. AoC - 9 Looks solid and offers some ground breaking ideas with a "newish" theme. WO - 8.5 Looks solid and offers the best of what we have now with the same old theme.

Would it have done better if there was PVP?
General Discussion « Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted 6/22/07 11:59:14 AM
When this game first came out I played it for about 3 weeks and thought it was a "decent" game. This was before all the financial problems were occuring and such. I usually only play games that have a decent pvp system intact. I have looked at this game a few times in the past year or so but I can not get myself to play it simply because there is no real PVP involved.. Now, can I raise this notion without getting flamed by the pro pve/ anti pvp crowd? I think this game would have had a much better chance at survival and would have piqued more curiousity had it instituted PVP from the start. |

Anyone notice when you click on a link to review a game it shows the right one, but then you go to rate it and it trys to rate a completely different game? Just 1 minute ago I clicked on Guild Wars and when I hit the rate this game button Cabal popped up. I have previoulsy rated both of these games. Also I have had problems with My Profile retaining the selections I make (yes i do select the save changes button at the bottom and do not hit the back arrow), and it has just recently started logging me in when I logon to the website, before I would have to manually login each time and it would not save my changes at all. |

The whole built in pizza button in mmorpgs is a mastermind scheme of weight loss agencies all over the globe. ... need i say more? |
