So what new features would you like to see added to GW2 (excluding player/guild hosuing)?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 11/03/12 6:49:17 PM
Well... there's an acheivement for weapon mastery, and killing mobs. Example, you get acheivement for killing 1000 ghosts, or you get achievement for having 5000 killing blows with greatsword...
What i'd like to see is if we could unlock some sort of new ability once we reach this milestone or some type of "cape" or "skin" to show that I've killed 5000+ monsters with my greatsword, that I'm truly a greatsword master. |

Difficulty and Class.. what's your thoughts?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/17/12 4:36:58 PM
Yeah I definately agree. Warriors are easy as heck to play. With signets that heal you passively, and heal you actively every 16 seconds, signets that reduce damage, signets that increase presicion and power by the time I was ~35, I had 80%+ critrate. This made PvE really easy for me as hundred blades would take care of most mobs. The warhorn skills gives faster endurance regen + signet that increases passive endurance regen allows for kiting fairly easily. The speed boost from warhorn lasts a decent amount of time and without runes or traits has only a 10 second window when you don't have speed boost.
I think the reason this class is so easy is that A) it's heavy armor class, B) 100 Blade skill C) Reduce incoming damage signet At level 80, I can take on about 5-10 level 80 monsters fairly easily WITHOUT using any immune to damage buffs.
I think the classes like elementalist and mesmer are so difficult is because of their skills. Take the mesmer portals for example, it isn't something you can spam effectively while fighting PvE mobs. |

It just takes some time to master the specific dungeon. Learning when a boss is about to do is AoE, or when to Root that boss so he doesn't charge your elementalist and one shot him. Things like that, you can't expect to get it in the first one, two or even 5 runs. It just takes time.
I remember running CoF explorable first time, took over 40 minutes. Now I'm doing it 20 minutes or under, even with a random PUG group whom don't say a single word thru the whole run.
All that being said, I think AC (the very first dungeon) is insanely difficult for no reason. There's no way you can dodge 3-4 times in a row which you have to do for the flame room and they hit hard. But other than that, I think the dungeons are just fine in difficulty level.
One problem I do have is the balance in the routes in the dungeon. Most dungeon farming runs the group WILL ALMOST ALWAYS follow a specific path which is to be expected... What I didn't expect is that the other routes are VERY very long(almost 3x longer) or just bugged. |

What's the future of this game? Looking for information
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 9/09/12 9:25:32 PM
The way DE is set up its easy for them to innovate or add new things. The devs have said maybe in a zone there's 100 DEs now, years from now it might have 300. They've also said that they will also be tweaking the DEs a bit. So that farmer that you help pick apples for in that giant DE chain might not always need apples. This is to add replayability, so even if you are max level , you can still come and check out the new stuff.
They've also said and I'm parapharsing here : "All content produced by the live team will be free" So I'm not 100% sure if expansions will be free, probably not, because they'll still want to make some income. DLC will probably be free. The hair sticking back is a way to trick the human eye into thinking its waving back while running which is similar to what happens in real life. Of course it isn't perfect but it never bothered me before. It's probably laggy in Queensdale for a number of reasons. The main reason being A) it's one of the starter zones so huge amounts of new players B) It's human zone, which is by far the most populated race. If it's lagging , try playing in the overflow server, or asking in chat if anyone else is lagging. Because if not, it might be just your computer/connection.
Since you haven't been to any "high" leveled areas you won't notice that centuars can actually take over a town. Killing the merchant / armorsmith there so you can't sell/buy armor. They'll also lock out the waypoint. There are numerous DEs like this. And the only way to take back the town/village/whatever is to actually go there and defeat all enemies. |

Originally posted by Jimmydean Not true at all. I'm level 65 in a 30-40 zones and mobs drop gear around level 50, sometimes lower, sometimes higher. As for you thinkin it would be a challenge... well I'm level 65 and hundred blades pretty much takes a level 65 mob down to 20% or lower health. The skill itself is OP. You want a challenge , try rolling another class or another weapon set. |

How the downskill #3 for warrior works is like this: You go downed and when you press that #3 you come back to life for a short time. This is useful for a number of reasons, you can run away from boss so your allies can revive you easier. Now say you don't have this skill traited then there is a big chance that you will be defeated after this timer runs out, although I've had times when I didn't have this skill traited but I still managed to "stay alive". I think this case only works if/when you defeat all monsters attacking you.
Of course if you trait it there is a 100% chance to "staying alive" so long as you defeat your opponent. |
killing a bunch of pirates/centaur/centaur pirates/whatever
From this it seems you are in low leveled zones. Devs have said many times that early zones are all about helping NPCs deal with immediate conflicts in that zone and aren't really "epic" in type. As you get higher leveled the fight becomes more and more about the elder dragons.
A good example of this is the Level 40-50 zone where there is a shatterer boss fight. And I was similar to you in thinking this game lacks direction. What you fail to realize is that you are so used to MMOs hand holding you, telling you to go from location A to B when you reach certain level, that you have lost all the sense of wonder and discovery for yourself.
Go and report to Commander Enpeecee at Generic Hold, they need help with pirates.
This is in game, look at top right corner. Always something like this there, defend, gather, escort etcetcetc. If you still feed that there is no direction talk to the scouts, they give a detailed picture of whats happening in the zone and what NPCs need help where. |

Meele doesn't suck. People are so used to playing Meele in former MMOs that they aren't used to it.
Take for example this boss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NWdjb8xlKI
Now if you've ever fought this boss, you'd think this boss would be impossible to beat with just 2 people. But last night we did just that. With me playing the warrior and "tanking" him. I put quotes around tanking because it wasn't conventional tanking where you just soak damage and keep argo. I was dodging every time he slams his foot down and placing banners. The one other person who was attacking him was safely dpsing him from a distance. Took us a good 40 minutes to kill him.
My point? Meele doesn't suck. If both of us had tried to range him it would've been much more difficult as he would've chased us down/reset (which happened before in another zone!). You just need to learn how to play meele. Not to mention that some bosses you simply can't range them or stay at range distance. *cough* certain branded spider queen in level 50-60 zone*

This game has over 1 million players. Say only 1% of the population needs customer support, that's STILL 10,000 people who need help! You can't expect a company of 200 size to help 10,000 in a matter of hours. Like I said 72 hours is very good. |

The hackers got these combinations from other sites and since you were stupid enough to use same password for everything , they got into your account.
"If you don't want your account hacked, don't use the same email address and password for Guild Wars 2 that you've used for another game or web site. Hackers have big lists of email addresses and passwords that they've harvested from malware and from security vulnerabilities in other games and web sites, and they're systematically testing Guild Wars 2 looking for matching accounts." You think this is bad company? "Ensuring the best possible play experience for our fans is our highest priority. We’ve said before that we would be willing to temporarily disable first-party digital sales if we felt our high player concurrency may compromise player experiences. We have now reached that point.
From their facebook page. They stopped selling games JUST so the players ingame can enjoy it more. |

A) I don't understand the point of this video/post. B) Who is he? C) What do you mean by "DESTROYED"? |

Yeah I'm sorry to hear this. The AN did say some fansites have been targetted and that the "hackers" themselves got lucky with usernames/passwords from those sites. My recommendation is just buy the $80 version. I know it's a lot to pay $220 to play a game but people were spending MUCH MUCH more upgrading their PCs.

The longbow warrior is only 900 range and like someone else pointed out the rifle warrior is only 1200 range.
EDIT: I'm level 53 warrior. I believe you can increase the longbow range to 1200 with traits but you can't increase the rifle. |

Yeah unless you join a role playing guild, your chat will be empty. There's no real reason to talk in guild unless you are doing very organized WvWvW. You need help with a boss in PvE? Just talk in map chat. You want to figure out to get a certain vista? Just talk in map chat or just /say to the person next to you. You want to sell something? Map chat again Dungeon run? Just goto entrance of dungeon and spam map chat. |

The only thing that I've had trouble with is the TRADING POST and the MAIL SYSTEM. Although I did get a little lag, that might have been my fault. Honestly though I've played free MMORPGs that's been out for YEARS with bugs worse than this. And like many people already said, wasn't WoWs launch a bit shaky as well? Just give it time. It's only been out 2-3 days.
And you know the main reason why most of these problems are occuring? THERE'S TOO MANY DAMN PEOPLE ONLINE AT THE SAME TIME. Lag because servers can't handle it, TP closed because servers can't handle it, map queing because too many people. And before you say this was what the stress test was for... They never had 400k players all online in the stress test all at once. |
