As an Eve player myself, this is the first expansion since Aprocypha that I'm really looking forward to. It seems like CCP has finally got the message that few of us care about walking in stations and are finally making the game the players want. The features I've been seeing and testing on SiSi are amazing. The new battlecruisers will look great under my Christmas tree. |

EVE Online: Post-CSM Summit Press Conference Report

Should update the game info, at top it shows retail price of $29.99.. in reality the client is free. First month sub is $19.99 then $14.99/month after. |

I actually was not interested in this game until reading this.. seems like somehow everyone else is of the opposite opinion. These features, if implemented, will be fairly revolutionary. I also give credit to these guys for working hard to get this game into a more polished product before release, I remember quite a while ago the company was having financial woes.. at which point most companies would have tried to push an unfinished product out the door to try to cut their losses. |

I just re-tried the game.. I originally played the day it came out and then for 60 days afterwards. I left the game because it felt clunky, unresponsive and I just did not find it very much fun.

Ultima Online did it.. I know it was only 2d but that was in 1997. I don't think it would be too hard to implement with the technology today. |

Poll: What is the best/your favorite MMoRPG of all time?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/08/10 10:44:39 PM
Ultima Online
I don't know if it was because it was my first experience in an mmo universe, the player housing or the lack of a level system but god i love that game.. if they ever recreated it in 3d (especially the true player housing, not instanced)I would play that game and only that game. |

If you don't feel the price is fair then don't purchase it. If you already have then it is your fault for not doing your research. |

Hey, I know theres a lot of flaming about this game and i understand this.. but really guys, go easy on them. At least they are trying to create the game that we want to play and not just what is easy. They're also trying to do it with a very small crew and limited budget. It must be frustrating for them catching all this flak when all they're trying to do is create a good game, it must be hard not to get discouraged. Anyway, all I'm saying is it's okay to criticize (and easy to do so behind the veil of these interwebs).. just try to do it constructively instead of the 'omg lol sv fail again' posts.
Anyway, that's my 2¢, flame me if you wish. |

Poll: How would you rate the open beta thus far?

That's what he was trying to say... just slightly less eloquently. [Mod Edit] |

I want to disagree that Aion was the best game to come out in 2009 because I played it and hated it, as well as playing most of the new mmo's that came out in '09. Unfortunately when I look at the list of the other games that came out I found nothing great in that bin either. So I guess Aion is basically the best of a group of pretty repetitive unoriginal games. I've been really dissapointed with the genre as a whole, you started with EQ and UO which were completely new and innovative and in the 13 years since that not much has changed.. the graphics got a little better and some nifty systems were added but thats about it. I could rattle off a long list of things that would make an extremely innovative new MMO but it's been done before and no developer will take the time to work on them anyway, it's much cheaper to use the existing systems, put them in a new world and make them shinier. |

im pretty sure you'll be able to play one whatever server you want.. I believe preselection is more about reserving your character's name |

Not funny anymore: Order regularly gets ROLLED... PERIOD
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/27/08 2:51:31 PM
I've got to admit, my guild and I joined order to be the underdog. We chose the bechafen server randomy. The balance there is so absolutely ridiculous, it is 3 destruction for 1 order. If you don't beleive me go here
I don't mind being the underdog but that ratio is absolutely horrible, in scenarios it's pretty balanced. I'd say the win ratio is 50-50... which show's it isn't simply because the destruction are 'better'. In RvR it's horrible. I have literally not once seen a battlekeep owned by order. Whenever we try to take one a large host of destruction comes and squashes our group. What that means is no bonus's and no renown gear at all, and a lot of really pissed off players. We're all getting fed up, myself, my guild, and almost every order I have talked to. Many of us are waiting until our 30-day trial is over and if the balance isn't at least closer to even many of us will not continue to play. I don't know if mythic really understand's how much this is really affecting many of our views towards the game. Yes they have 500,000 players in the first week, but I've got a feeling unless something is done, and done quickly this game may lose a large percent of it's player-base out of frustration.

Also, anyone who voted 'no' to the poll, please explain to me why you are happy sitting here reading this forum instead of testing out WAR. |
|
|
So I've tested many games before and have been waiting to try out WAR for about a year and a half now. I was quite excited about the game... until the 'OPEN' Beta turned out to not be open at all... Only if you preordered the game or decided to check mmorpg.com a few days before the beta was to begin did you even have a chance to get a key. Every game i've tested before has had an open beta stage in which it was open to EVERYONE.. not just a handful of lucky gamers. I am extremely dissapointed in mythic's choice of making a limited number of beta keys available, which leads me to beleive there could only be two reasons for their decision. #1: The game/servers pyhsically cannot handle to client base, which is going to be a big dissapointment to all (not including myself because I now refuse to buy their game) on release day. #2: They are trying to boost their sales before people figure out how unstable/incomplete their game actually is by making it nessecary for one to purchase the game before ever getting the chance to test it, even those of us who have been following the game since it's infancy.
Great job Mythic, you never fail to dissapoint. You've botched DAoC and you are set on the right path to ruin what could be the nex-gen MMO.

I used to play Tanarus, an online tank game and one of Sony's first endeavours.. It was actually created to test the engine of their upcoming game Everquest. At the time you could find 'SonySmed' online most of the day and actually speak with him. From my experience and coversations with him he was an extremely clever man. I am sure he can get out of any mess he gets himself into. And with his position of President (as he did not hold such a title back then) I am sure his pull within SOE makes him untouchable. |

Yeah it's great if you enjoy a terrible UI, combat system, user control, lack of classes, and lack of pvp.. only thing going for is it is that it's set in middle earth. |
|
|
yeah, I gave perfect world a try. Nice concept, but not really feasable for Americans to play. Terrible translations, to the point where I can't figure out what I am supposed to do because of sentences that make no sense. Terrible UI and a whole lot of lag. Maybe with some improvements it will be worthwhile. Also Mortal Online seems like a great concept, the UO of the next generation... but many games have tried this concept before and ended up falling flat on their faces or stripping the game of all the content they promise. However if it sticks to what it's fundamental ideas are and delivers on its concepts, i think it will be the next huge thing. |

Thanks for the tips guys, perfect world seems very good.. especially the flying, epic mounts, and player housing. I guess I am truely an ultima online player at heart... I just wish it was set in a 3d world, I'd never need another game.
