I've played VG since it released and have played AoC since it released last week and both games are complete opposites of each other. VG is much more of an open ended sandbox game but I'm not sure if it can be called a true sandbox or not. The world is wide open, there are no instances and you can go anywhere pretty much. The level curve is fast but nowhere near as fast as AoC. There are tons of dungeons and they are a lot of fun to crawl through with a group. The community is very good for the most part although you'll find idiotic morons in any game these days but they seem to be rare. There are still plenty of things the devs need to work on however. There is still no free trial for those that want to try it out before they buy it and that is one of the main things keeping people from trying the game. If you do decide to try it, roll on Seradon or Xeth as they are the two most populated servers. BTW, the trolls should be given bells part was great. I love that! |

FD is the reason they are designated pullers. Highest DPS right now is a contest between monk and rogue. Rangers still do great DPS but not on par with a monk or rogue. As for agro issues. Our monks pull massive agro on raids and they always FD out of it. And don't bother waiting for the 'zerker. There has been no announcement on it in a very long time. I doubt it or the inquisitor will ever be put in unless they add them with an expansion, if they ever do one. |

You're dead on about how easy the game has gotten. It's funny that regionchat is filled with people who use the tired and lame "go back to WoW" comment on anyone who complains about pretty much anything anymore considering that VG is about the same difficulty as WoW these days. The only place to find any kind of decent challenge anymore is in APW. They did that area right. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, I just wish they hadn't dumbed it down so much. If you decide to stay, find a good guild that runs regular groups. Grouping is where VG shines. |

I can't say I like any of them but I've never liked helms in any game I've ever played. I'm happy for the people who wanted helms in the game but it was never anything I cared about. I'm just glad there's an option to hide helms. |

I'd hazard a guess that you could hit cap in a month or a little less if you stuck to the quest lines. Search this board, there's a post by Zippy I believe with a rundown of where to go to quest at each level range. 2. Check the links section at vgplayers.com for all the class sites. All of them are listed there. 3. If you harvest while you level you'll have no problem with money and you'll be able to outfit yourself with nice gear from quests. I wouldn't worry about buying much of anything until you reach 40, then you can work on optimizing gear if you're into that. 4. Not sure what you mean by this question. There are plenty of faction grinds that you can do but they are optional. If you mean is it like WoW where you have to farm mats between raids to be able to raid then no, you don't. Hope this info is helpful. |

Nice post but it'll have no effect. This is mmorpg.com and it's been this way since I first visited this site over 4 years ago. I found it funny even back then. WoW and EQ2 had not launched yet but that didn't stop those waiting to play either game from going at it with the other crowd. This isn't the place to come to get any kind of real info about a game. It's the place to come to pointlessly argue. Just sit back and enjoy it. For the most part, the people playing VG now are doing so because they enjoy it. I feel no special obligation to defend the game. I'll continue to play it as long as I continue to enjoy it. |

I play on Seradon and for the most part, people are helpful. Granted, any game is bound to have some asshats playing who generally get off on being a jerk but I haven't seen too much of it on my server in a long time. The community seemed to be far worse at release with the "go back to wow" crap than it is today. Which is really odd, considering the train wreck the game was at release. For the most part however, the community is friendly, and more than willing to help new players with any questions they may have. If you do happen to run into an idiot, just ignore 'em because they aren't representative of the community. They just tend to be the loudest. |

As far as soloing classes go, you have a pretty good selection to choose from. Shaman (Bear, Bird, Wolf. Any totem can solo well) Sorcerer Ranger Bard Dread Knight Cleric Those are the top soloing classes but the other classes can solo as well. Rogues are by far the hardest to solo but they are a lot of fun to play in a group. Not sure how well druids solo so I'll let someone with some experience with that class speak for them.

Regionsay in every game is full of these idiots who could better spend their time by playing in traffic. Every game has these morons in them. Please don't judge the entire community because of a vocal minority. If you don't like the game, that's fine. Just stop playing it. Otherwise make liberal use of the /ignore function. |

All VG accounts will be re-activated on December 18th until January 3rd so that any former VG players can come back and try it out for free if they wish. Good news for any old VG players who want to see what state the game is in now. Try it, play it, hate it or love it, and then come here and post why. You've got nothing to lose but free time. |

It's most likely your card. NVIDIA 7900 and 8800 cards run it very well. If it's in your budget to get one, that would be the best way to go. Also, if you don't already have 2 gigs of RAM, that will help too. |

Lidane is dead on. In the end, those who want to try it will, and those who don't, won't. These boards tend to get a little too dramatic because people from both sides of the fence post less than accurate information about the game. It's not bug filled but neither is it bug free. Other than to continue polishing up the game, the best thing SOE can do for VG is to get the free trial out ASAP so people can try it out before having to pay anything first. For the record, I think VG is a very fun game with the potential to become one of the best MMO's ever made but that's just my opinion. Even when they get everything worked out it still won't be for everyone. No game ever is. |

Ranger. One of the best soloing classes in the game and until the warrior, monk and rogue fixes get put in, the second best in melee dps output behind the rogue. But I've always played rangers in whatever game I play. All of the classes are great in their own way but if you like to solo, stay far far away from the 3 pure melee classes. Especially the rogue. |

If you want to group as soon as possible after you start playing, don't start on Kojan. I only say this because it is not nearly as large or fleshed out like Qalia or Thestra and most players tend to start on one of the main contintents. Kojan is a very nice area, don't get me wrong, but it's not nearly as populated as Thestra or Qalia. Some of the more established sites with VG info are tentonhammer.com and silkyvenom.com. I don't read them so I can't say how good or bad they are but those are the main two I see mentioned most on the official boards. You could try curse-gaming.com as well. |

You can duo pretty much everything in the game with the right 2 classes. Levels come very fast now, too fast to ever see 1/4 of the content in the game. There are still housing plots left on Seradon and they are adding more soon. There's a lot of content from 1-50 but none at 50 until they patch in the first raid zone in the next week or so. As far as being worth it, well, in my opinion it is. If you liked the game when you played it before you'll probably like it more now. I just wish they'd get the free trial out so people could try it risk free. |

If you want a more bow oriented ranger then wood elf or halfling will probably be your best choice. My main is a 50 wood elf ranger and I play with a few long time friends. One of them is also a 50 ranger but he's a Thestran human. He crits way more with melee than I do but I crit way more with the bow than he does. Not sure if it's a fluke or what. We both wear the exact same gear. The summoned pet you get depends on what race you pick. Wood elves get a black panther and Thestran humans get a hawk. They aren't very useful though other than for RP purposes. |
