Thanks for the reply, Im gonna start downloading the trial tomorrow.

I am an experianced MMO player and i was wondering if the Guardian class is in demand at all? Or is it like other MMOs where you have to have the connections to tank in raids and other high end PvE stuff?

Hey guys ive been without an MMO for awhile and the current MMOs on the market dont interest me apart from Lotr.

I've got a couple question i'd like to ask before i download the 14day trial.

Firstly whats the population like on the EU servers? Will i be finding it hard to find a guild/group throughout the game from begining to end. Or are the servers going strong?

What classe(s) are in demand? And why are they in demand? if any.

What classe(s) would you recormend to a start out as?

Thanks

ONLY if two things happen...

1, they take your details down as a preorder and, 2, They know what a god damned preorder is...  Which my local HMV didn't, and FFS, even my ex-gf was there (who I gifted with at least a few brain cells to rub together) and no one, even the manager knew it was a preorder so I kicked up a stink

So no, thats not the case and now I and two freinds have preorderboxes that aren;tlinked as preorders

Ouch that sucks, you could try and take the receipt with the pre-order box to HMV at launch but judging from what youve said about your HMV store i guess they couldnt put two and two together.

I know what I am talking about.

A character that flows up a 25 step stairs in two steps is "floating"' movement and is NOT polished at all.

It is called uneasy control btw.

I just compared it with some stairs in SW: the avatar there takes exaclty the same number of steps as there are stairs in Stormwind Keep.

His steps even come out  exactly.

Ok just re wathced it. First it s 17 stairs , Second he s running, Third it s 4 steps so actually you re way off. And finally i asked you if you re in beta simply because i am and can assure you , you don t know what you re talking about just from some videos.

there are 25 steps and he is on top in just 2.5 passes.

I am not lying everyone can control it.

I look at the video footage for 1 year now and the only thing being added are the lightning effects since about 4 months.

Errr what more would you want them to add? Bright colours? Blocky character models? Out of proportion humans? Oh wait wait wait wait... Thats WoW sorry!

Thats because WoW characters all walk like they have a stick rammed up their arse.

All watch that video.

Wind up to 1 minute 10 seconds (until the wiz starts running up the stairs.)

It is about a 25 step stair and he does this in just a 2 step run "floating over it".

Clear isn't it ?

So you would rather him take ten secs to walk on each and every step just because it would look more relaistic? Sorry but i wouldnt be playing WAR so i could get the best and most accurate Stair walking simulator on the market, no i'd like to think i could walk up and down stairs FAST rather than going into an stair walking animation loop as you seem to want so much.

Wow does excaly the same thing, you know why? because it doesnt break the flow of traveling.

One thing you must remember is that FFXI is a unique MMO in the sense that its on 3 different platforms, PC, PS2 and Xbox360. Must be a task and ahalf to run things on their end sometimes, but to answer your question. My time in FFXI (around 2.5/3years) i did notice alot of downtime compaired to other MMOs, Hurts more for the EU/USA players to because FFXI is running off JP peak times.

Hello guys, i just have a question or two about the proformance of AoC on laptops of the same spec as mine. My laptop is as follows:

HP Compaq 8510w:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 cache)

2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics, with up to 256MB dedicated memory (512 MB TurboCache)

Windows XP Pro, SP2

I know its a CAD software laptop but ive been able to play CoD4, Portal and others. I had a Tech beta for AoC but i only got to character creation screen before i alt+F4'd out due to proformance and bugs. I read somewhere that from Open Beta to retail client that the proformance has increased alot.

My question being given my laptops spec, would it be able to run the game at a decent resolution with alot of the eye candy switched on?

Thanks

Badly ported from console.

The Best version of the game is the PC version, All you need is  a Pad and your set.

No UI to speak of, had to macro all your spells.

You dont have to Macro all your spells, it just made things easier. The macro system was pretty easy and intuitive.

Housing sucked.

I'll give you that, at leat it has housing. Also i heard they've updated it so players can invite other into their house.

Crafting sucked.

I'll also agree to a point, I like the fact that it was so fucking hard to level a craft to 100 that a random guy couldnt walk up and power level it in a day.

Fishing got nerfed so badly that it sucked too - so bad Id rather fish in EQ2, and I cant stand fishing in that game.

Theyve worked on fishing so it involes more player input, to try and get one over on botters.

Quests were hard to find... you practically  had to click on everything just to find one.

Agree'd

Zoning... as bad as EQ2.

Agree'd

Cutscenes.

I loved the cutscenes personaly, made YOU feel like a part of the story rather then having a lame scripted NPC that only one person could interact with at a time

Only those tribble things could be mages... loved them, but why? lol

Tarutaru's MADE the best mages, anyone could be a mage but just not as good as them. All classes were open to all races, just makes scense that the little guys would be better mages than a two handed sword wealding Dark Knight.

Those world codes, you had to know someone in a particular world just to get invited in... otherwise you got a random world.

Yea that was lame, theyve updated now thought so you get a world selection option at the start of character creation.

The airship between areas was annoyingly long.

They were fun but after the 100th time of you being in a rush somewhere they did get annoying.

Economy was screwed up.

Yes indeed, but as much as i'd like to talk bad about SE, they steped it up a notch and started doing something about it awhile back.

Graphics looked like they were filtered through a cheesecloth.

On consoles yes, but on the PC if you know what your doing you can break the graphics/res limit and run it higher. Theres even a downloadable tool called Mogs Tools (I think?) that would do it for you.

It tells me that you PERSONALY dont like the game, other then that i dont know, i dont know your taste in games or anything so you quiting a beta doesnt tell me much.

And if your quiting a beta because of bugs rather than lack of content you like, it tells me that you think beta's are the finished game and give up on a beta to easy.

For the people in the UK (and Europe?) Play.com has a good deal on the pre-order, You get the 3days early play, Exclusive In-Game War Rhino Mount and 8 additional inv slots. The picturethey have of the Rhino is pritty generic but it will be cool to see how it turns out.

from 10 years of MMO playing and while im not the biggest wow fan i have to say WoW is pretty polished. Not the most polished MMO but certainly up there.

just curious, what would you say is the most polished?

yeah, i was sort of wondering that as well.  Not many games more polished than WOW and I'd love to hear of some of them.

I agree also but i also have an answer, only one game i can think of that ive played long enough to have a good opinion or not is FFXI. That game throughout the whole time i played it on both PC + XB360 was 99.9% bug free for me. Not played it since its latest expansion but if its past is anything to go by it should be as polished as its always been.

Cant really recommend a PCI card because to be honest your not going to get a good one because there really out of day. I would recommend spending about 70ish pounds and getting a PCI-Express mother board and a PCI-Express Card. If thats totally not an option does your current motherboard have its AGP slot free or have one for that matter?

If so i would go for this www.overclockers.co.uk

Hello.

I play Vanguard in late Beta and launch for about a month. I dropped the game due to a number of reasons mainly being; Lag, proformance and general gameplay bugs. I told myself not to play the game till they sort it out some, checked back a couple of months later and the game was still in a bad state (or so i was told).

Now after doing alittle research i hear the game is at the level where it would of been reasonable to launch. First of all is this true? I love to hear your thoughts on this.

Just a few general questions like;

Whats the population like? - am i going to be lvling 1-20 not seeing anyone or will guilds be hard to come by?

Proformance - at launch i could run it -ok- on medium in towns, just wondering do people notice a massive proformance boost?

Leveling / Class balance - I noticed at launch some classes couldn't solo for beans i.e Warriors. Also leveling was boring from time to time (mainly due to lack of population) but is it easyer to lvl and solo now?

Those are the only ones i can think of atm, I would love to hear any input you may have to add.

Thank you.

Zul'Aman is coming up very soon.

There will also be another 25man raid introduced a few months before WoTLK is released. Rumor is it will be 'The Sunwell'.

They have not been very frequent because..

  • They are working on WoTLK
  • They were working on Starcraft 2
  • They have been and are still working on another MMO

Collect your resources before posting something like that.

If im not mistakend most of that stuff you listed was content that people were sold on TBC for and now they are just releasing them in content patches in other words that stuff was penciled down for TBC as an expansion not free content. Only stuff on that list thats wasn't is the new Factions (Ogri'la and Skyguards) easy to get netherdrakes (Netherdrakes were ment to be arena champion mounts only) Sunwell, voice chat and guild banks.

Im not saying the stuff they did give people isn't good, i'm glad that they are adding content (even tho its not that much) its just that Black Temple and the Eye ect are not free content patches because they are just slowly released content from TBC Expansion from launch. I can see why they do this tho, if you release with every bit of content you had planed people would burn out too quickly and progression would be all over the place. But its back firering alittle, alot of Vets are leaving because of this.

To the OP, you say LOTRs is release new content?

LOTRs at launch had so little content the stuff they are releasing now seems huge in comparason to what they had at launch. They are doing the same as Blizz and to be honest almost every other MMO out there, releasing unfinished stuff and then release content that was planed for the begining and porning it off as new stuff.

Im not sticking up for WoW or LOTR Online, there both as bad as one another content wise.
