What's a good MMORPG to play now until EQ Next/ESO/FFXIV?
LFGame « General Discussion 5/31/13 1:52:53 PM
Sadly, I have grown quite tired of Neverwinter faster than I assumed I would, but it will remain on the computer to jump back in and out of, a new class and the Dark Elf race would be a nice release being I was only interested in trickster rogue.......but onto the OP's questions..... I just went back to Age of Conan, I'm not sure how limited the F2P part of it is, but I don't think it's very restrictive. Point being, the game is very fun, I love the setting, for free you might as well give it a shot. |

[General Article] Neverwinter: Open Beta Diary #3

Originally posted by picommander True, but people are spending a fortune on keys, I have nearly 60 of these boxes in my inventory or on the auction house. I had sold a ton of them already , but I can't even seem to sell them on the auction house anymore. I'm not to cheap to buy things from the auction house or the cash shop, though I've made a fortune without paying hardly anything (20 dollars after the 600k I got with Guardian Pack), but the prices are insane, and I don't like to gamble. People seem to be spending money like crazy though. |

Originally posted by Lunarpac This is by far a "worst case scenario", someone just trying to sell this part of the game short. Playing the Zen market(buying/selling with Astral Diamonds/Zen) or selling items on the auction house for astral diamonds (loot is plentiful and Bind on Equip) , can get you a ton of AD in a hurry. I spoke in another thread about me buying the Guardian pack and went through my 600k ad quick, I bought some zen then played the market, between playing the market and auction house sales I have accumulated near 10mil Astral Diamonds. Just so you know, it's really easy to get AD. That thread about 7mos or $160 was referring to only converting "rough" AD to regular AD is a maximum of 24k a day........it was very biased.
The game is very easy, but the most fun I have had in mmo's in years, I just finally got my first 60 , Trickster Rogue, yesterday and still very much having fun. I am typically a very casual player, but admit I have been playing a lot since early access open beta. I'm sure my game time is longer than most at about 3 days to reach 60.........that's a lot of game time in 3-4 weeks for me.
As far as gold being unnecessary as stated in the article, I think it really is until late in the game, then health pot consumption starts adding up quickly. I go through a ton of pots In some areas. Ugh Mindflayers give me a really tough time. |
|
Originally posted by bestever Correct, you can only refine 24k "ROUGH" Ad per day. A little playing with the market will get you far quickly , as well as selling items on the AH. My only toon is a 42 trickster rogue, I purchased the guardian pack, and quickly spent the 600k AD. I bought a 20 dollar pwe card from target and have never spent another dime on the game. 20 dollar pwe card gets you 2000 zen, I play the Zen market a lot and now have 3000zen and 2.4 million AD. So I am missing what all the fuss is all about. For that matter, if you make foundry quests, people very regularly "tip" when reviewing..........these AD can add up quickly also.
I think the cash shop prices are disgusting, but love the game and will be glad to kick them some money here and there. Is the game P2W? It can be if you would rather pay than do a little creative thinking, but really P2W is for folks rushing to the end game, they blow a bunch of cash then typically get bored and the game sucks to them because they didn't earn anything, and have it all, just my opinion.
Why so serious folks? It's a game, it's a hobby..relax and have fun. People these days try to dissect everything. |

Does Neverwinter feel like the game play is similar to WoW?
General Discussion « Neverwinter 2/18/13 8:18:45 AM
Originally posted by evilastro I was thinking the same things about your post? Have you not played it? Being I bought a Guardian pack and played about 10-15 hours on the first beta weekend. It feels very much the same atmosphere, instanced setting as DDO, thought the combat is completely different. My comment was no insult to DDO or NW, it was a compliment, for I very much enjoyed DDO and loved the beta weekend in NW....and will be playing NW . We could also compare NW to other Cryptic titles, STO and champions. I think my opinion is completely valid and no idea where you think i didn't play it. Apparently opinions vary....who would of thought?........ |

Does Neverwinter feel like the game play is similar to WoW?
General Discussion « Neverwinter 2/17/13 7:16:02 AM
Originally posted by Isturi I read through all the posts and I really feel like the best game out there to compare it to is DDO, having played it, it's pretty much copy/paste of DDO and updated with WoW'ish/RIft type of art style. Very simplistic combat, but nothing like WoW, more like any action combat, such as Diablo 3, maybe a bit more complex. On another note, I had a blast on the beta weekend playing it. It will be free, take a look when it comes out. |

Forget this game if you are solo only gamer
General Discussion « Path of Exile 2/17/13 7:12:26 AM
These are the type of complaints that ruined MMO's for me, in another sense it made MMO's huge. Either way companies catered to "solo" complaints and made MMO's single player games.
PoE is not an MMO like many others have stated. Co-op action game...........if somone wants a pure single player experience there are more than one or two of those games tp be found I bet, but seriously, make some friends in game, it's a far better experience in gaming. |

News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/11/13 8:34:41 AM
Originally posted by SBFord I will read up on it, thanks. I certainly agree if over time Cryptic pays attention, this could be an excellent game. I'm sad that i didn't spend more time just exploring the areas, the environment is very lively..........I was hoping in your pros I would have found the things I should have been looking for, I will read up on your Friday Preview. I sure hope they let us toy with the foundry on the next weekend! |

[Preview] Neverwinter: Off to a Good Start
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/11/13 8:20:42 AM
Fair preview, though in parts it seemed a little "attacking" and biased, it is beta still. Comical you started this with a pros and cons line, then stuck to the cons.....is there a pros article coming later? Companions can certainly use some work, alot of it. I haven't scourged the forums, but I didn't even know about alot of "stability" issues, I take it I was lucky for I didn't have a single disconnect or crash, there was a patched memory leak on saturday. I played a rogue to level 21 and cleric/warrior to levels 4 and 5 just to see how their combat felt. I hope all the other classes do make it in the game, but fully expected very few classes at launch. You got to have something to buy in a F2P game, after all. |

It does feel like an updated DDO, a very welcomed update to DDO. I will be happy to continue on in Neverwinter, and hooray for not needing to run a dozen hot bars such as in DDO. On a serious note, yes they feel a bit similiar, but I do feel that Neverwinter is a much more "playable" game, even the first dungeon was alot more FUN they anything I ran in DDO.

Very well written review. I played a trickster rogue to level 22. Played a Cleric and Warrior to 4 and 5, just to get a feel of how they felt to play. I started off feeling kind of "Meh", but quickly became very addicted over the weekend. NW is pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, and I look to play it for a long time.
My system is windows 7 64bit, quad core 965BE, radeon 7870,8gig ram.........I played flawlessly all weekend, was luck enough to run into no bugs or crashes. There was a slight issue with a memory leak, but they did a quick fix on saturday. The leak never affected me, but I was keeping an eye on it for feedback purposes. |

[Interview] EverQuest: 19 Expansions Strong
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/09/13 6:53:31 AM
This MMO still hold my fondest memories, except for hell levels, those were the only levels I really seemed to notice. Retired from the game at the launch of Luclin and was there from about 3 months after launch, something about Luclin turned me off to the game. My pally had 58 real life days played....and several alts........I was very addicted.
I have been conisdering giving all the new content a whirl, this just nudged me a little more. |

Mega servers?....I would like to know my community
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 2/07/13 7:28:48 AM
Sadly I think most MMO's have caught on that most players treat MMO's like single player campaigns. We storm through the content then move on. That sense of community is long gone in MMO's. It used to be nice to log into a game, say hello's to yuor guildmates and know alot people scrolling in the chat box. Heck people used to be well known on servers , people knew who to do raids with and who was the ninja. Now we have dungeon finders and mostly single player questlines.......I guess it's just how things evolved in this genre. I'm lucky enough to belong to a long time guild, with some RL friends, and we game together.
So yes, it's the answer you didn't want, attach yourself to a good guild, one's you have to apply to at their website always seem to be more serious guilds.............not always in the "hardcore" manner. Alot of guilds have been around for a very long time, and I much more enjoy gaming with guilds than solo jumping from game to game.
Happy gaming! |
