Today at 20:00 GMT, the Fallen Earth Wikipedia page was edited by the Game's Community Director Ivan Tiggs, he stated that the release date is "July 4th for purposes of dramatic, american irony." (to coincide with independance day.)

To read the information, check out the wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallen_Earth), apparently the game's homepage will be updated within the hour.

Thanks,

Rudiger Siobahn, Fallen Earth Fansite Manager

Beta key

I've managed to obtain 2 beta keys, one from a contest and one from full acceptance into the beta through my application. I'm willing to trade 1 of my keys for another beta key (to a different game) or something similar. My e-mail is Agent_Tart@Hotmail.com MSN me or e-mail me to discuss.

Ok I'd just like to say that the reason I found the two KoTOR games so compelling was because of their deep story, which centralised around you.

This would not be workable in an MMO.

The combat was nothing special, and in fact in an MMO it would be dull and get tiresome fast. There are some systems which may work, if done well i.e. the Feats system, but a KoTOR MMO will have to go far away from its original format to make a fun, popular MMO.

Ryzom is quite a good title. It's certainly a niche game, however a lot of people like it. Also, a hella lotta people on the MMORPG.com ratings just play on the game for an hour go "GREAT"and then rate everything 10/10. So don't loose sleep over the issue. Just let it be and get back to playing whatever...

Haha. Totally. The 'Game description' for Maple story on this webiste is intersting/decieving/load of bollocks:

"At Maple World, hunting and engaging in battles are not the only options you'll have.

You can explore a totally new and unknown world you have never been to, put on beautiful clothes and gorgeous accessories, and even attract other users in the process. You may begin the journey to explore the world of unknown alone, but you may come out on the other end with numerous new friends through hunting and chatting. If you're tired of hunting and competition, how about playing minigames with a friend for a change?"

"You'll become a brave adventurer protecting the Maple World, and if you're exhausted from all the intense battles and competition, you may one day build your own house at a quiet rural village, enjoying the life of a recluse who welcomes visitors At Maple Island..."

"...You'll be playing the game at Victoria Island where all these diverse and unique towns and fields coexist."

I'd say botters and hackers are still a problem, they always will be unless the staff are actually proactive in banning them. As for people starting at level 60, I dunno, never heard of that. But there are certainly bot programs plaguing the servers which can get players there in a short amount of time.

Is it worth coming back? Well if the only thing you didn't like about MS was the hackers then get over it and come back. But there are far more reasons for not coming back to maplestory than just hackers.

What about Ultima ONLINE?

Since there were 9 offline Ultima games before hand, it makes sense that they added an 'Online' to the title so that players would buy the game, knowing it would be played online.

Therefore it fails.

Actually this game title does not fail. On the contrary, it's probably a game with one of the more accurate uses of the word "online" in relation to mmorpg's, because Warhammer's current form is that of a table-top miniatures wargame.  Having originated from a tabletop medium with a limited scope that only a few of your friends can play at a time, it's now expanding to a greater audience by way of the internet. So you have Warhammer offline...and now you have Warhammer Online. Of course the differences are obvious...no miniatures to paint, for one!

The word "online" in game titles has been done to death that's for sure, but in this case it's more appropriate than with most games that have used it; it's accurate, albeit perhap a bit cliche. However, dismissing the game simply for its use of the word "online" is rather lame. No one says you'll have to play it, because you sound like you're not a fan of the Warhammer universe anyhow.

I've heard of people judging games for gameplay, graphics, customer service (or lack thereof)...but never for a game title. This is absurd.

We are talking solely of their titles. I think the games looks fantastic and once upon a time I was a bit of a Warhammer 40K fanboy. I am not judging the game at all. Only it's title. And I agree with you that it's making it clear that the game is online and is changing format blah blah... but you are missing the point of this entire topic. To comment on the game's names:

  • Warhammer        = Franchise done to death in many different game genres
  • Online                  = More often than not, signals an Eastern Grind fest.
  • Age of Reckoning = Ooosing cliche. I mean really.
*Warhammer ONLINE: Age of reckoning.
Therefore it fails.

Of course this would not be the BEST name for a game, but it does have a certain ring to it:

"Korean Grindfest."

Korean Grindfest: online, would be tonnes better. But it sounds like a really interesting game, with a huge amount of depth. It would be clear the developers had put a lot of thought into it and aren't in it for the money at all.. oh no. Fantastic... i'd buy it

[/sarcasm]

Check this thread out

Try some of those out, the ones who's descriptions you like the sound of. It's quite dated now, but a lot of the advertisements on mmorpg.com are for free-to-play games so click on them an try them out. With free-to-play games it's generally hard to find non-biased reviews so it's usually a case of trial and error until you find one you enjoy.

and what would road rash online... consist of?

For me, the best mmo is Dungeon and Dragon Online: Stormreach because it is very Unique- you can  Create a unique individual with millions of different combinations of looks, skills, stats, feats, races, and classes. I simply like the game :-)

I think the title Dungeons and Dragon Online: Stormreach sucks. It's completely unimaginative, just using it's franchises name, plus 'Online' and the name of the city where the game takes place.
Exactly, the website seems very un proffesional, and whilst the screenshots are quite pretty, the graphics are quite inferior to a lot of games. Also, the listed concepts are unoriginal, and, quite frankly, unapealing. I don't want to permenantly die. I don't want player-build crap everywhere. I don't want main cities in ruins.
