Obee is correct - I'm pretty sure they're just going to give Force Unleashed some attention and that's about it. Too bad... I really wouldn't mind an announcement from them about the information in my original post in this thread hehe |

http://www.play-earthrise.com/ ^ The only Sci-Fi MMORPG that appeals to me at this time. Tabula Rasa was a pretty big flop in my opinion. I played through the beta and it was just horribly weak. HUXLEY is a glorified UT3 full of emptiness until you get in a match. EVE is cool and all but in my opinion it's overcomplicated controls and very steep learning curve keeps a lot of players away from it - as well I agree if they added planetary missins where your avatar can get out of the ship to conduct business, get into some fights etc it would be a much bigger hit [at least avatar/space station gameplay is coming to EVE in the future a la social hubs, not missions.] Stargate Worlds.... What can I say, I loved the Stargate movie, a can't stand the show and have no idea how such a poorly written, produced and acted series can stay around so long and be so popular while something like FIREFLY gets snuffed out by the a$$holes who run FOX. The game is almost as uninteresting to me as the television shows. Jumpgate Evolution looks very boring as well... Earthrise is the only thing on the horizon atm that gives me any hope for a good Sci Fi MMORPG. BEYOND that horizon however, I'm hoping to see an incredible BioWare Sci-Fi epic MMORPG, possibly STAR WARS. |

I could see PVPers care about something like this, but personally I like to enjoy the stories of my 'adventures' in an MMORPG and I'm never in a rush for the final level. In LOTRO, I RP'd SO MUCH and was constantly helping others resulting in my Captain still being level 49. In Age of Conan, I have a level 40 Conqueror, a level 36 Assassin and a 29 Ranger, all of which I really enjoy. Taking my sweet time for sure. |

I'd say VANGUARD by far sadly, BUT it's promises were much more lofty too. Age of Conan had a fairly smooth launch for me but Vanguard was nearly unplayable apparently. |

http://age-of-conanlevelingguide.blogspot.com/ STEP BY STEP AGE OF CONAN LEVELING GUIDE FROM LONG TIME CLOSED BETA and RELEASE PROFESSIONAL PLAYER! Detailed step-by-step leveling path, not available ANYWHERE ELSE!
So... how long you guys think before someone TORRENTS this thing? lol The creator went through a lot of hard work hoping to make some good $ but you know someone will eventually just put the file up on piratebay or something. I'm surprised someone actually went to all this trouble but it almost feels like it might as well be an online resource database. |

Though, the 'restricted' feel in the cities kind of tick me off, where they'll have an area that bends all the way around something just to be a dead end or they'll close a path off when it would've made much better sense to allow little alleyways to access through the city. From what I've seen of videows for WARHAMMER and heard from friends, the game is basically running mostly on hype. I'm not trying to troll someone's anticipated title, I'm just saying it's not in great shape considering how 'next gen' mmo's ought to be by now. If it has a huge success, I have feeling it will be due to hype and impulse buys rather than informed customers who purchase knowing how thoroughly quality the game is or isn't. I don't know... right now I'm feeling like MMO's are kind of meh but we're due for something 'revolutionary' and awesome. |

Sorry guys I haven't been paying much attention to the thread since I'm not into WARHAMMER but it's a sad thing for all it's fans... on a quick scan I didn't notice anyone had posted this so here you go an article about the matter: To all looking forward to WARHAMMER: "Warhammer Online Loses 66% of Capital Cities, Multiple Character Classes" |

Speaking of BioWare's Dragon Age, it's been renamed to "Dragon Age: Origins" and has it's first teaser trailer [just out last night] : http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36033.html The new title would suggest it's some sort of backstory to a larger tale... which makes me wonder what if it were the single player stand alone introduction to BioWare's MMORPG? Wouldn't that be crazy? Dragon Age Online It was just a wacky thought hehe. The trailer for DA:Origins is honestly pretty unimpressive in my opinion but it's just a cinematic teaser so far. |

You realize of course that this could be nothing more than a formality in case they ever decide to do something with any of these games. It's nice to speculate, but it's nothing more than speculation.
-- Of course. Fully realized. Could be nothing, could be something. I did think it was an interesting bit of news so I thought I'd share with the community :) Good lord. LET. STAR WARS. DIE. Seriously, the IP is old, worn out, now very trite and just flat out dull. TIme to create a new universe, a new world to explore and write books about and film movies about. Let Star Wars die. It was fun while it lasted, now let it RIP.
-- That's your opinion, you're very welcome to it, but you sales figures would suggest differently and thus Star Wars continues so long as there's stories to tell and money to make. a "legacy system" such as that would blow. CoX already has that for an "end game". You hit the level cap and start over. Its one of the biggest complaints the players have about the game. Its funny to think that any serious game developer would actually consider such a thing......oh wait, StarGateWorlds is
-- Yeah a system like this could ONLY work if there isn't one storyline which you must repeat with every character -but- I can see it working if the MMORPG is advanced enough to allow a completely different story experience on a second play through via choices you make in the game. As far as I know, there was never any romance between the aforementioned "companions".
-- I don't think the person who wrote that meant any of those mentioned companion characters had romantic relationships but rather that in a game, your companion/sidekick COULD become a romantic interest. Haven't you figured it out yet? Bioware's new game is a fantasy theme with dragons. Nothing to do with star wars whatsoever. So much for you hot rumor lol.
-- I haven't figured much out about BioWare's game since they haven't really released anything. I don't know where you get 'fantasy theme with dragons' from either because as I said, they've released nothing. Perhaps you're talking about Dragon Age which is a single player RPG which BioWare Austin has been keeping well underwraps for years now and hope to release fairly soon so I wouldn't be surprised to hear about it at E3. Unless of course you know something about the MMORPG of theirs being developed in Austin, TX that I completely missed... |

Who knows if any of this info is really worth a damn, but here's another update from 'Jawars' on the BioWare forums: "AN UPDATE from the EUcantina post about the Trademarks: The post on that site reads: " YOU HEARD ME!
I recently took a Survey about a game on SurveySpot. I usually delete this crap but was bored. I tried to copy/paste the description but naturally it was blocked. Here is the information I can recall even though I had to agree NOT to share said information. Screw that. Next-Gen was in the article about 1000 times along with mentioning SWG all over the place. Setting: 3500 years before Vader Title: Star Wars: The Old Republic (no not that crap one you'll find with google) Features I remember: 8 professions-smuggler and BH stick out immediately Functional Light side/ Dark side- npcs and others remember what you do and their reactions change accordingly. Legacy system. When you reach top level, apparently you have the option of producing an offspring with special bonus traits and starting over...or something to that effect. Companion: Han had Chewy, Luke had R2...blah blah....someone to accompany you. Potential for romance sticks out as something oddly unique Fully customizable ship. Can be bought or stolen!! No more miles of reading text. Events happen in game with full voice overs. Sounds damn impossible if you ask me. Full grouping ala any damn MMO Some sort of minigame that is used to influence others?? Not many details on that one. well, there were 10 major points we had to vote on and classify in order of what we liked the best. These are the only ones I remember. So, could we have something here?? It sounds cool to me!! 1/2 of it was "would you pay 39.99 for game and 12.95 for sub?" and stuff. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!WOOOOT!!! anyone else take the survey? It may still be up at surveyspot -New video game survey was title. Any thoughts???" Again, take everything on the internet with a scoop of salt but hey just in case anyone's interested, here it is :) |

I originally posted it in my BioWare MMO thread which is in the Rumor section, thus is rarely noticed.. so I thought I'd post it here as well. I'm glad it's now 'Knights of the Old Republic' so it's not saying that the Jedi Knights are the focus - and why should they be? Yes Jedi/Sith are cool and awesome and they are the popular kids of Star Wars, but there's just SO MUCH MORE in the universe to be and play as - The Old Republic is a rich setting full of turbulant wars which echo throughout the entire galaxy allowing for a LOT of creative freedom. Go Go BioWare MMO |

I don't mind multiple servers when the game has a huge population. What drives me nuts - especially right now is Age of Conan's instancing. I can chat with people in other instances to group up at a certain location BUT they could be in another instance. IF that is the case, we all have to choose one instance and someone's gotta port there. But you can't JUST port there from wherever you are, you have to trek across the friggin map to find a Resurrection spot and transfer there. THEN you have to trek back to wherever the quest is to meet the people there who have been waiting patiently [usually] for like 5-10 minutes for you to get your arse over there so you can all do your thing. Very annoyingly stupid game design choices. There's sadly many of them in Age of Conan currently. I do enjoy the game, but a LOT of things tick me right off about it and the way the populace is set up is definitely up there. |

http://www.eucantina.net/archives/834 LucasFilm Registers Trademark for “Star Wars The Old Republic” Online Game !!! On July 3rd, 2008, LucasFilm filed for trademarks for the following:
The trademarks have been registered for “Entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks, namely, providing interactive computer game software, interactive video game software and interactive computer games and interactive video games, all on-line by means of global and local area networks” You can view a screenshot of the trademark for “Star Wars the Old Republic” here. It is important to note that these trademarks were registered in the same way as the trademark for “Star Wars Galaxies”. These are officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It appears that at least one of these titles may be used to create a new online Star Wars game. “The Old Republic” title makes me think about that KOTOR MMO everyone’s been talking about. Credit for the screenshot and discovery of “The Old Republic” title goes to the website StarWarsUniverse.com |
